Why WassupBlog Now Hosted On A VPS Host

You certainly don’t have to be Tom Cruise to ‘have a need’ for speed! Nope, because even a blogger, who wants to supply his readers with the ultimate experience, requires speed! Sure, we all know that content is king, but, people may not hang around long enough to see how good your content is if your blog takes too long to load. That’s bad and what’s worse is that if your blog is all about making money, then having a slow blog may be costing you sales.

I’ve done a couple of posts on how to increase your blog speed, the last one being Taking The Time To Increase Your Blog’s Speed, but this one is going to show you ways that won’t just make your blog faster it will also make Google happier, and we all want to do that don’t we?

I’ve put up with this blog loading too slowly for way too long, and because I didn’t want to get rid of any of my plugins to increase its speed, there was only one thing for me to do. It was to say to goodbye to BlueHost and move this blog away from shared hosting to InMotion hosting. I probably would have made a move a lot sooner if it wasn’t for BlueHost’s CPU throttling, but in the end, I outgrew even that.

Because We’re Now Hosted On A VPS Host Speed Is Great

Although there was a remarkable improvement in speed after moving the blog to InmotionHosting, I was a little miffed when Google’s Page Speed Insight. It only gave me a score of 64/100. Nope, I wasn’t going to stand for that, and so I did some tweaking, and I got the score up to 89/100. However, before taking their result as gospel, I decided to give WebPageTest a go to see what sort of result they would provide.

Long story short, I managed to tweek the speed to an acceptable level.

Your post jumped from “I was able to get the following result” to “You have to agree that looks a lot better” without showing any numbers or images. Instead, there’s an ad for Grammerly. I’m sure the numbers probably look great; it’s be nice if I could see them. lol

I’m so sorry Mitch, this is one of the posts I lost when database got corrupted, and although I managed to get the original post back up, I wasn’t able to find the images. I’ve edited the post so others won’t go looking for the results čśÄ

You know a lot of blogs that write on “how to blog” promote BlueHost because of it’s affiliate program. Now, whenever I see it recommended on a site I immediately think the person will sell their soul to the devil. Bluehost is the worst of the worst and you’ll never get the speed you need to rank. I started on GoDaddy (terrible) and now I am with BigScoots who have been fantastic xxx Glad you got off BlueHost….Nikki

Hey Nikola, I reckon most shared hosting sites would be slower than a VPS hosted one because you don’t know if those sharing with are hogging all the resources.

Hi, do you have any experience on Hostinger hosting service?
I am paying about $10 per month for hosting, but I am still not satisfied with their service.
I am using their VPS service for my website, and my website is Gatsby static website, and I also have optimized all images – but the Google page speed is 65 mobile / 74 desktop.
Is it Hostinger server problem? Can I increase my website speed by using InMotion VPS?
    Thank you.

I’m sorry but I’ve never heard of Hostinger and so I can’t vouch that Inmotion Hosting is better than their VPS. Have you tried optimizing your website to improve its speed?

    Thanks for your reply.
    Of course I have tried.
I have used Gatsby static site generator, so my pages are merely static html files and they say it will be blazing fast.
I also optimized website image files, reducing their sizes to be fit for mobile, and optimized image file sizes using facebook image processor.
But still my website is slow.
And your website, built on wordpress, is faster than my Gatsby website :(.
What should I do? What is your recommendation on optimizing the website? Is InMotion VPS expensive?
    Thanks again.

I pay $430 a year for my hosting. Have you approached Gatsby for help?
