It’s Time To Go Halloween…..Again

As Halloween is just around the corner, October 31st, I thought it was time to put on the Halloween theme for WassupBlog. I do this every year but only because FlexSqueeze makes it so easy change the blogs appearance using the import feature. I did a video of it and you can see it on YouTube but keep in mind that video is over two years old and there have been a lot of improvements since then. Naturally I had to design the Halloween theme but then again FlexSqueeze makes that an easy task as well. I’ve also got one for Easter and Christmas and when I have time I will work on some others, like a Valentine one for example.

But enough about how good this theme is, I want to entertain you with some juice Halloween Videos. I would say most of the videos you see online are American and this is because they take Halloween really seriously. Take this first one for example. The house that put this show together really went all out. Read the rest of this entry

Googles Latest PR Update In Time For Halloween

Yep, Halloween is just around the corner, and Google has chosen this hallowed time to play around with everybody’s PR. Some would have gone up, some down, and those that Google considers unsavory have probably had it stripped from them.

Personally, this blog has done fairly well as it went from PR3 to PR4. Not bad considering that I haven’t really been trying to improve on my ranking at all.

Being the last days of Halloween and all, and seeing how this post’s been mainly about Google, I put a little poem together to commemorate the occasion.

Googlebots, the terror of the Net
Striking fear into Webmasters and yet
Webmasters and bloggers, all of like mind
In using keywords for Googlebot to find

Keywords, the spider food these poor sods use
Hoping the Spiderbots will follow and not abuse
With luck they hope to obtain position number one
For anything else would certainly be no fun

They will try anything to obtain a Page Rank
From spamming bloggers and going to the bank
To pay for links on high ranking sites
But if Google found out, it would simply bite

For the venom of the Google Bomb is well known
Because if you piss Google off your PR is blown
So, how does Google know if you’ve been bad or good?
It’s those bloody Googlebots spidering the web for food

[eminimall]

Those damn Googlebots, they have no heart or soul
They don’t give a shit if your blog falls down a hole
Do what you can to better your position
Especially if improving your PR is your ambition

Personally I don’t give a crap
I’m not falling for that trap
I’m more for enjoying my blogging
And that’s best without a Google flogging

So, I hope you enjoyed that, and perhaps you could leave a comment as to how Google has ranked your blog with this last update.

$20 Million Dollar Halloween Superdraw

The last week or so I’ve been getting emails reminding me of the $20 Million Super Draw. There is nothing unusual about this apart from the fact that they have been advertising it as some sort of Halloween lottery draw as it is drawn on 31st of October. Perhaps Halloween is bigger in Australia than I’ve given it credit for.

Regardless of that I’m going to have a go at this weeks, partly because it’s worth 20 Million Dollars and partly because I may need the cash to pay for my BMW repairs.

Seeing as how they were advertising it as a Halloween special, I thought that perhaps they had some ‘Halloween Banners” celebrating the fact. After checking out their site I could only find their run of the mill Superdraw banners.

Like I’ve said in previous posts, this is a reputable, fully licensed and accredited Australian lottery site site, who aren’t too fussed whose money they take. They’re even running a special where their giving away 2 free games with your first purchase.

Keeping with the Halloween theme I’ve found two videos that I thought you would like. The first is of a skeleton that has a misbehaving penis.

This next one is a Halloween prank gone wrong.

A Poem For Halloween The Night Of Frights

Keeping in line with the Halloween theme I thought I would post a poem about a scary night when you’re home alone. It may well fall on the night of Halloween itself, when all the trick or treating is done and it’s time to watch a spooky movie. I have to admit though that this time I just had to end the poem with a bit of a twist.

Home alone on a dark windy night
Gonna watch horror movies to get a fright
Stick a movie in the DVD player
Got some chips and a dip for flavour

Turned the lights out and settled down
Sitting on the lounge in my night gown
The movie’s scary I’m crouching low
When’s the scary part coming, I don’t know

A screeching sound scares me out of my mindSpiritHalloween I jump right up leaving my skin behind
Its only a moment before my skin comes back
Hitting my body with a blood curdling crack
I go into the kitchen for the carving knife
I need a weapon in case I meet some strife
I creep into the lounge, the movie still playing
When suddenly there’s some screeching baying

All of a sudden my heart’s in my throat
I can’t breathe I’m starting to choke
With some effort I push it down
I must find out what’s making that sound

I creep into the master bedroom
It’s dark and scary, will I meet my doom
A sound of water from the bathroom I hear
Is there a ghoulish fiend lurking near

The screeching starts, I can not bear it
I must stop it before my mind it splits
I raise the knife its blade a gleaming
I must stop that damn awful screaming

I open the door just a crack
To see the fiend I must attack
My jaw drops, eyes open wide in shock
My wife is back she beat the clock

That awful sound was her singing
That grating sound my ears a ringing
A horror movie that I had found
Would be much better if it used that sound.

Wassup With Halloween And Making Money

The beauty about comments and commentluv is that it can lead you to some very interesting blog articles, and if you’re not one to reciprocate comments, or at least check out who is leaving comments on your blog you’re possibly missing out on some really great reads.

Just the other day Trey of Swollen Thumb Entertainment left a comment on one of my posts that linked to his Treat Your Blog Like A Living Thing post and I’m here to tell you it is one of the best reads I’ve had in a long time, entertaining as well as informative. Just in case you are missing the point, I am suggesting that you go and have a read :wink_ee:

Scary Crow Adult CostumeThat post galvanized me into changing the look of the blog to coincide with the up and coming Halloween festive season. Luckily for me, FlexSqueeze, this blogs theme, makes it extremely easy to change the look and feel of a blog, as I demonstrated in my Flexsqueeze & The Total Screen Recorder post. I simply installed a new header, changed the overall color of the theme including some lovely blood red links etc. to give it what I believe to be a nice Halloween feel.

I’ve even changed a couple of banners in the ‘feature’ section of the header to offer the readers a great selection of Halloween costumes and paraphernalia. For those of you who have been following my earning stats over the last few months, you may well have noticed an increase ever since changing to the Flexsqueeze theme, and it’s my opinion that it’s directly related to that ‘feature’ section of the blog. We all know that when it comes to making money on a blog, sales is largely dependent on your ad placement, and I’ve found that area to be the best performer for my blogs.

Don’t be surprised if over the coming weeks some form of horrible, scary header appears as it’s all to do with getting in the spirit of Halloween.
