WassupBlog’s Milestone 300th Post

I’m pretty sure I’ve never done one of these posts before but I’m sure that if there’s one floating around somewhere someone out there will remind me of the fact. :tongue_laugh_ee: My first ever post, Wassup Blog Is Here To Entrance And Enthrall The Reader, and I dearly hope that in that time there have been one or two posts that have managed to do just that. That particular post was was posted on August the 9th 2008 and only received two comments, one of which was mine the other belonged to my good blogging mate Mitch, who out of all the possible super powers would love longevity.

Since that first post went live I think I’ve managed to acquire a respectful readership and I think a lot of that has been due to the fact that I tell people how it is and I don’t try to gain their To Elland 3.5 milesrespect only to try and sell them something at a later date. Sure I promote many affiliates but unless I’ve actually tried them I don’t try to fool people into assuming that I have when I haven’t.

What I find really amazing is that in that time this blog has received over 11500 comments. I reckon that’s pretty good when you consider that all my other blogs, which you can read about in my About page, have received 3951 comments out of the 2866 posts That I’ve written on them.

So, why has this blog out performed all those other blogs? Basically it’s because there is one thing that I do on this blog that I do not do on all those others. I try to follow all commentators to their blogs and after finding a post that I like I leave as good a comment as time allows me. More often that not those bloggers appreciate the time I’ve taken to do that and in turn they become loyal readers. Sure it doesn’t always work out that way but then I’ve never expected to win over every single person. I’ve always looked at it being a long term issue and over time it’s proved that it pays to have patience rather than to give up.

Another reason this blog does a lot better is that I use such plugins as commentluv, keywordluv and top commentators to reward my commentators. Sure that leads to some spam but that’s cool because I enjoy sending those comments to Akismet’s spam filter so that Akismet can deal with them in future saving myself and others time.

I think it also helps that I take the time to reply to as many commentators as possible which I find enjoyable rather than a chore. There are many A Listers out there that will tell you doing so is a waste of time as your time may be better spent making money but they won’t tell you how to do that unless you pay them for the privilege.  Me, I think it’s a great way to have a meaningful dialogue with people and to me those people are more than just an avenue for making money.

So, this is my 300th post and it will be interesting to see where Wassup Blog is in the scheme of things when I do my 600th post.

For now I would like to provide you guys a little light entertainment by posting the following commercial which advertisers the Wienerschnitzel, a hot dog which really looks quite tasty :innocent1_tb:

“I think it also helps that I take the time to reply to as many commentators as possible which I find enjoyable rather than a chore.”

…and you do that well! It’s uncanny how you can stay on top of all the comments like you do. Nice! :)

    1. Thanks Colleen, and it’s not all that hard when you love doing it. Sort of like not minding the odd tap on the shoulder while asleep when the wife wants sex. Hang on a sec, that’s never happened, reckon I must have been dreaming again. :devil_tb:

  2. 300 articles! That’s awesome, mate. Congrats for the milestone.

  4. Congrats on the success. I just recently converted to DoFollow and I know what you mean about the spam. Just turn on akismet too so hopefully it will do the job.

  5. That’s awesome dude! Seriously impressed, and I LOVE the domain name mate! I wandered over from Matthew Needhams site am glad I did, some great stuff here, and your attitude toward blog commenting and building relationships is spot on!
I know this is my first comment on your site so this is pushing my luck, but I just had to share this youtube video of my son (filmed before he could really talk at all)

Congratulations on your 300th post! Do you feel old and gray yet? ;) That’s an awful lot of candles, we may need the fire department to help you put them all out!

You’re right about what you do here that works. I’ve been so impressed with the things that are working so well for you that I’ve begun using many of them myself. I’ve learned so much from you. This blog is an example of relationship building done right.

  8. 300 is a great milestone. When do you think you’ll reach 500? Any plans?

    Andrew
.-= Andrew @ Blogging Guide´s last blog ..Premium WordPress Themes For Free… =-.

    1. I’m not one to plan that far ahead Andrew, I prefer to take things as they come, on a day to day basis. As to plans, that’s something else I’m not all that hot on.

      1. Sire,

I thought you would have been!

        Andrew

        1. Nope, I’ve found that plans lead to disappointment and stress. Life for me is better without it.

          1. Nice approach, Sire. I like it!

            Andrew

  9. Thats a great achievement Sire. I have achieved 150 post within one year, but your achievement is better than me.Keep up mate.

  10. Congrats on the milestone, it’s an achievement that makes all webmasters smile when reached. All you have to do is carry on the same path and you will reach even more milestones and you will be recognised by many out there on the web.

My blog is standing at over 760 posts, but there are a few guest posts which has helped me along. I have been getting more response for guest posts after creating a revenue sharing program.

    1. I’m cutting in right here :)
Yo talk about scrolling down some comments :) George hope all is well :)
Sire first it is a sure sign of a good person to see so many good people commenting on your blog many of them I do consider my friends :) 300 well I would of thought it was more but unlike me I know you don’t just write and take 3 mins to do a post like me :) Congrats it’s nice and exciting to watch :clap_tb:
      to all your success
PS I am tempted to go see who the Goddess is :)
      Thanks for all your realness
I did originally think the whole blogger field would be filled with guys like you but as I go I know it’s important to cherish ones like you Sire
      Thanks for being YOU

      1. Check her out John, she’s one of those video bloggers.

    2. Hey George, good to hear that your revenue sharing program is working for you and that you’re getting a good response for guests posts. Keep it up mate.

  11. Hello Sire,

I haven’t been here for a while but then again, what are (online) friends for if I don’t check them out when I have the time.

Congratulations on your 300th post! It was really a milestone and your increasing number of comments is just marvelous. I hope to even get half past that.

You’re genuine and supportive nature attracts people to this blog that’s why. Kudos for a job well done and keep being cool.:smile_wp:

    1. Thanks for the kind words Mathdelane, but really I couldn’t have done it without the help of others such as yourself for you guys provide the inspiration for me to write the posts that you see here.

  12. Congrats Peter

I was just thinking about this the other day as I noticed I had 300 post (since aug.09) up on one of my blogs, now 301 and if I’m energetic maybe by the end of the morning I’ll add another.

I do like your style but it’s only recently I’ve been turned on to your blog via bloggerluv. I will take some time and look back at some of your earlier post. I’m always curious to see if folks where as lost and scattered as I was when I first started blogging. And sometimes still am. I tend to turn others off by my brute honesty at times but ‘hey that’s me’ and I won’t change that it’s in my blood! I lost a lot of comments when I added commentluv, due to changing the theme at the same time they got lost in the mix somehow, a lot. :(

    Peace
    Lee
.-= Lee ´s last blog ..It’s not the size of the fingers but the balls ~ Bowling =-.

    1. Yeah, that’s the problem you get when a plugin may not agree with your theme or clashes with another plugin. Couldn’t you restore your backup thereby retrieving those lost comments?

  13. Congrats Sire :) :D

  14. Lets not forget who informed you of the do follow/luv plugins in the first place, many moons ago (over on the BS blog). ;)

Congrats on the 300! I can totally vouch for the reasons why. We really need to continue to teach the value of comments, coming and going…like you, this is why DSWM had 8000+ comments on 200 posts. :)

      1. And no, I haven’t been waiting all this time to do that. LOL. I just remembered.

  15. Twitter:
Man, that was funny! As for the 300th, congrats, and I’m glad to have been here every step of the way, fixing you up and making you look better as I go along. I won’t even point out the two errors I saw, so you get a break from me.

And one other thing this blog has that makes it special; the smileys! :drunk_tb: :devil_tb:

Congratulations Sire for the milestone 300th post. Keep ’em coming. :) I think you’re the closest I’ve seen of an ideal blogger.

Just remember who had which blog first, Bucko! Okay, you had other blogs, and I had another blog way back when, but IJS is older than Wassup, so respect your elders. :cool1_tb:

          1. That may be true but I do believe I am older than you so perhaps you should respect yours :rasberry_ee: :lol_ee:

            1. Twitter:
That’s right, you’re older than dirt, which means I do need to at least listen to all that “old man” stuff first. :smoke_tb:

    3. Shit Mitch, don’t let that stop you :innocent1_tb: :laugh_tb: Anyway, you knew that would make me check through the post, I found and fixed a couple, hopefully they were the right ones.

Kimberly, you don’t really have to egg him on you know :wink_ee:

  16. Oh that video was GOOD!!! LMAO!!! I needed that today so a big thank you! I also want to say a BIG CONGRATS!!! 300 Posts that is flippin amazing!

.-= Cheryl´s last blog ..My Blog is Carbon Neutral =-.

    1. Thanks Cheryl, welcome to the blogging world, I wish you all the best in your blogging career.

  18. Congratulations on that milestone, and I hope more people would find your blog and become its frequent readers. I totally agree with giving much attention to those who comment as they help a lot in making blogging more worthwhile

    1. Thanks Julius, and I hope in time I get to reach out to more people partly to share my posts but also to grow the community as I visit them.

  19. And this goddess was all excited to see you in full King Lionides gear ~ all bare chest, sword, shield emblazoned with the symbol of League of Extraordinary Bloggers ~ or something like that, anyway. (Is there an icon for a disappointed sigh?)

But still, 300 blog posts is most impressive but what is most admirable (and inspiring!) is the number of comments, readers and genuine relationships you have built using simple conversations.

And for a newbie blogger without the resources to purchase every traffic building, opt-in inducing, blog enhancing gizmo out there, your simple strategy has been the best lesson I’ve learned.
.-= Jacqueline Gates@inner goddess´s last blog ..How I became a Goddess, working for Starbucks for $7 an hour =-.

    1. Unbelievable. I only just mentioned royalty in my last comment and who walks in but The Goddess Jacqueline Gates herself. Lucky for me I was properly attired and remembered to suck in my gut when you walked in. I hope my bare chest and knightly attire stirred made the right impression. :devil_tb: :laugh_tb:

I never thought you were a newbie, you do things so well over there.

  20. congrats on 300!!!

  21. Sire,
That is alot of typing my friend! Talk about a hand cramp. You deserve a break. Pop open a Fosters and throw one back for me!

    1. Lucky there was a lot of gaps in between TAM. As to the Fosters I don’t have any of those in the fridge so I may have to throw back Scotch and Coke or something for now.

  22. Congrats sire.Enjoyed the video.

  23. Good job on 300! how does Google approach CommentLuv blogs? Does installing this plugin effect Page Rank?

    1. I don’t think it affects it either way, but it does help building your comment count. It’s up to you to deal with any extra spam that may result, but as long as you have akismet I’ve found this to be minimal.

      1. Thanks for the response Sire. My blog is a subpage of a my main sight that is a online store. So I am really concerned about getting any penalty from Google. I have about 60 post on my blog now, and would like to get more comments.

        1. No worries. If you were to use this blog as an example not only do I use commentluv, keywordluv, I am also dofollow and I’ve still managed to have a PR4 rating.

PR aside I think SERPs are way more important and that is what you should be aiming for.

  24. Congrats on the 300 posts!

  25. @Jenny Scott and Lakhyajyoti, Thanks guys.

  26. Good work, that is quite a few posts. Here’s to 300 more!

    :clap_tb:

  27. my congratz ;) no 600 – get 1000! :)

  28. Congrats on 300. Now you just have to make 830 more to get caught up with me. ;-)

    1. I’m in no rush to catch up to anyone Rose. It’s not a competition for me, if it was I don’t think I would enjoy it as much.

      1. I was not trying to apply it was a competition.

        1. And I wasn’t trying to imply that you were implying that you wanted to make it a competition, though I admit some people may see it that way. Sorry Rose.

  29. Well if they saw it that way then they would dearly be mistaken. Sorry sire! :)

  30. Woooot. Congragulations Sire!
    That’s excellent news. :)
I’m happy that you made it to your 300th post milestone, something as special to you as all the users that make this site what it is, filled with life and sincerity.
Hope you are well and having the start of a good week.

    1. Thanks Ana, I really owe it to all you guys that keep coming back with words of encouragement.

  31. Amazing! 300 posts? That’s got to be some sort of record. Thanks for being so committed to your audience. I look forward to reading more from you in the future!!

  32. To be honest I found your blog because of Kimberly’s post about dofollow keyword luv blogs. So yea I am sure a lot of people first came here for that reason too. So keyword luv is one of your main things that makes this blog succeed.

I also have to mention that I didn’t know you had top commentor’s. And I’m number 2 :)
