When I first started this blog I spent a long time trying to find a great WordPress Theme because I wanted it to be just right, and truth be told I love the theme that I finally settled on. I later found out that Andy Baily’s CommentLuv Plugin wouldn’t work, and I really wanted to reward my readers for leaving a comment. For those of you who don’t know, Andy’s plugin rewards you by displaying a link to your blog’s last post and I know how bloggers like to promote their blogs.
Anyway, no matter what I tried I couldn’t get it to work. Then I remembered that Brian’s Threaded Comments plugin used its own comments.php and viola it worked a charm. So now, not only can you get a little link love, you can also reply to a particular comment as this blog now supports nested comments. Also don’t forget that I use the dofollow plugin so comments will be picked up by the search engines.
I think after all that I deserve a martini or something.

That’s great that you got it to work! Plugins can be tricky, especially trying to mix them in with versins of wordpress & themes :) This is a great theme, I am waiting for them to release the “light” version :)

I particularly like this dark one. Will be great for photos. I was lucky with getting it all to work, but it did cause a few extra grey hairs.

Good deal, Sire. And any time someone can find a picture of Brian holding a martini, well, it’s a good day. lol
Mitchs last blog post..What Kind Of Car Do You Drive?
Yeah, getting that picture is one of the advantages of the Zemanta plugin

I haven’t yet used KeywordLuv, but I’ve been hearing CommentLuv is a pretty great plugin!
Well, just don’t sit there twiddling your thumbs alex, get into it mate.
I really like your theme! I’m just starting out with wordpress customization and I hope I’ll achieve your level of wordpress knowledge some day ;)
I installed this CommentLuv plugin recently, I hope it will help me with attracting more quality comments.
Are there more plugins like CommentLuv?
Gigi, I think that it is great that you have decided to join the blogging world and I wish you every success. You may consider the dofollow plugin and becoming a member of the F Group. You may also consider the Platinum SEO Pack for SEO reasons.
I will buy you a martini if you could help me get CommentLuv working on my site. I installed it last night, it seemed to be working then, now it is not showing up. Any suggestions?
Hey Zrii Guy, your best bet is to put the question to Andy, the guy who developed the plugin. He has a support section and he is always willing to help.
If you are using the Thesis theme you may find this link of help.
I’ve not tried KeywordLuv, but I’m trying it out here to see whether or not it’s a good fit. I’m having some initial development issues combining CommentLuv with Threaded Comments, but with any luck, it’ll figure itself out!
Zack Katz´s Last blog post..Colorado Holiday Party!
Hey Zack, I actually found that commentluv worked fine with Brian’s threaded comments if you use the latest commentluv available.
Sometimes comment luv can have problems i think it depends on template and other pluggins you use. I seen some sites with other plugins have hard time getting it to work.
Hey Matt, luckily it works fine with this theme. Thanks for your comment mate.
