Underage Sex Consequences

I have a very good reason for writing this post on underage sex consequences. The reason I feel compelled to write about underage sex consequences is because of this article that I read yesterday. It’s about a judge, District Court Judge Rosemary Davey who refused to jail a 21 year old man who had sex with a 13 year old girl.  :naughty:

Can you believe that? It seems she feels the 13 year old has a lot to answer for as she “was looking for” a sexual encounter. HELLO! She’s only 13 years old! That’s why we have these laws. To protect those who have not yet developed the mental capacity to make sound judgement calls.

Underage Sex Should Have Consequences

The man on the other hand was 21 years old and knew exactly what he was getting in to. Sure she told him she was 14 years old, goes to show just how much she doesn’t know, but even that is well below the age of sexual consent. He is definitely old enough to realise that. Shit, he even pleaded guilty to having unlawful sexual intercourse with a 13 year old girl.

So, how does the judge believe we can resolve this problem? By teaching them in school that underage sex is unlawful. That there are consequences to having underage sex. What about the asshole who had sex with that girl. Shouldn’t he get more than a slap on the wrist.

So what if the girl dressed as if she was a 23 year old. He thought she was 14. And yet he took her home and had sex with her. She may not be old enough to understand what she was doing but he sure as hell was.

All I can do is quote something that Derryn Hinch would say,  Shame on you Judge Rosemary Davey. I’m not a judge or anything but even I know by not giving him some sort of penalty you’re sending out the wrong sort of message.

What about you my avid readers, what do you think?

    1. I know. I’m still at a loss at how she could could come up with that decision. Especially being a woman and all.

  1. I’m not sure in what universe anyone would think this is a crime that shouldn’t be punished. You mentioned that there are laws to protect those too young to make smart decisions however, it sounds like both the 21 year old and the judge are incapable of making an intelligent decision and they should both be locked up to protect everyone else.

    1. I know. I just don’t understand how she could get this so wrong. She is supposed to be protecting young girls from these morons.

I think her parents should be spoken to as well. What the hell are they thinking letting her go out like that and staying out as late as she obviously does.

  2. It really angers me when I hear stories like this. It sure doesn’t sound like the judge is thinking clearly. It doesn’t matter if she was looking for a sexual encounter or not, she is only 13. It seems that the judge needs to learn the difference between a minor (13) and an adult (21).

    1. I’m with you Ed. It’s not like she didn’t have the time to think about it either. It’s not like she has to make a ruling on the spot or anything.

  3. Well yeah, there comes the point, the person with age 13 doesn’t need to be taught, the person with age 21 needs to be.
It’s simple. If the elder one doesn’t have skills to notice or get estimate of the opposite, he/she should be punished.

    1. The thing is the guy was old enough to know better and the judge has the experience to realise that. Why she decided to take the course she did is beyond me.
