Testing Market Samurai’s Keyword Research Tool

There has been a particular product that I’ve seen a lot of reviews about all over the net, and I wouldn’t be in the least surprised if you’ve seen them as well. I’m talking about Market Samurai and yes that is an affiliate link that will allow you to download a free copy so you can test it for yourself.

So, even though I’ve been hearing for ages about how all ‘these first-time internet marketing “newbies” who have been using this TOP SECRET Market Samurai software to easily capture front-page rankings, traffic and sales in their first few weeks online’, why have I waited until now to purchase the software?

Well you see things are finally starting to change around here. By the end of next week I will be out of work, after being self employed for some thirty odd years. While I’m not going into details, let’s just say that the payout figure was nowhere near what I needed to retire, and while I will be taking some time off for a long deserved rest I will need to find another source of income, and I figured why not blogging?

You guys all know how, although I’ve always known about the importance of keyword research I’ve never really applied it because I believed it would spoil my blogging experience. Well what if Market Samurai can do all the hard work for me, then I would have the best of both worlds.

You may be wondering why I purchased it rather than just trialling it for seven days. Well for one thing I’m still working and I knew I didn’t have time to run it through it’s paces and the other thing is that I didn’t want to miss out on the 35% savings for getting in early. If I let the trial expire I would have paid $149 instead of $97. The other reason is that to be an affiliate you have to own the software first, and I figured why take the chance of lost sales just for the sake of a few lousy bucks.

In case you haven’t heard of Market Samurai, it’s a keyword research tool that promises the following.

  • TOP RANKINGS in Search Engines
  • Finds the most PROFITABLE KEYWORDS
  • It will show you what it will take to DOMINATE YOUR COMPETITORS…

And believe me the Internet being the size that it is there’s a whole lot of competition out there so it’s a good idea to get the edge on them whenever you can. If you’re interested in future updates you may want to subscribe to the blog. Better still why not take the free trial and join me in the journey to what I hope will be financial freedom.

Try Market Samurai now for free!

  1. Hi Pete, I never have used a keyword researching tools in my blogs. I’m trying to use google keyword tool but I don’t understand how it works.

    1. I would not trust any of Google keyword tools unless it’s Google Trends. Most of them have vastly overestimated search predictions. Stick with Google trends because it’s the only one that’s even close to being correct.

    2. Hi Jhong, I think that is part of marketing Samurai’s success, that they are able to harness Google’s tools to help their members. I will find out more once I get more involved. Don’t worry, there will be follow up posts.

  2. Hi Sire

Firstly all the best in the next venture you embark on. I remember when Market Samurai was first released. I trialled it for 7 days and it was great. As I only have one blog at the moment and it’s in a small niche, haven’t needed to buy it. But I will say that nearly all the bloggers I respect who are doing well; all mention it when they are setting up new sites. I’m sure you will do well and here’s to your success.

    1. Thanks Patricia, I’m sure I’ll do well, once I got all the wife’s chore out of the way. :doh_tb: :laugh_tb:

It’s one thing when your talking to an affiliate, because you never know if their being honest or just trying to make a sale. It’s another when someone you know tells you it’s a good thing because you know they’re not getting anything out of bullshitting to you. Sorry about the language, but it went well with what I was trying to say. :tongue_wink_ee:

  3. Well to start, I wish you all success to your journey. I am sure that if you keep doing what you are doing (nice things), then you should have no problem getting there. In particular with the help of Market Samurai, hopefully things would be much easier :). I participated on Ed Dale’s 3o day Challenge and one of the main tools we used was the Market Samurai. I guess I can safely say that I am sort of an expert with it. Does it deliver? No doubt. It is very good and all you have to do is play around with for a while before you fully take advantage of it. You are wise investing on this product, this is good.

    1. What impressed me about it is the professionalism behind the product. It’s not some backyard job that people sell you and then you never hear from them again. From what I can see, the short while I’ve been with them, is that their support is phenomenal. I can’t wait to sit down and absorb all they have to teach me.

    2. I agree. I know the software and the people behind it are very professional. No wonder they have managed to create a great product that has helped 1000s of internet marketers…

  4. I am always a little dubious about programs like this. There are a lot of programs that offer a lot and then don’t deliver. I would be interested in hearing an update in a couple of months when you have used it more. I have tried to find a non affiliate review of the product but I have failed. Has anyone had a bad experience of this product or is it as good as it seems?

    1. As am I Tom. I honestly believe though that most people who buy Market Samurai do so for it’s keyword research capabilities. The affiliate sales are just a bonus.

You may note that some of the commentators have nothing but praise for it, and there doesn’t seem to be any reason for them to lie because there’s nothing in it for them to do so.

      1. Thanks Sire for the feedback. The blogs I have seen have all been affilliates but like you said the commentators here are obviously not. Could you do a full review of it sometime? Screenshots etc. I have just started my own business so I have to warrant any spending. How does the keyword research capabilities differ from Google Adwords/keyword tool?

        1. I’ll be reviewing it in sections as I go along Tom. It will be more about results rather than comparing it to Google Adwords/keyword tool as I’ve never used it.

  5. Market samurai is a nice tool that gets you a large amount of keywords but the google search term suggestion tool currently gives me all the keyword information I need.

  6. Tried and Tested. I always use market samurai and it works superbly. I suggest others to use this too.

    1. Due to some success I had with MNF, I have focused on it only for some time and almost forgotten to use my market samurai. Now that MNF is no longer working for me, I think it’s time to get myself acquainted with MS again. When I purchased MS, there was no affiliate program for it yet. It’s cool that they have it now.

  7. Hey Pete, this is Eric. Visiting your blog for the first time and thought to say hello. I just need more informations and feedback on Market Samurai. Because I have a company blog, I would definitely want to promote it doing some thorough keyword research. Looking for your future posts on this topic. Thanks.

    1. Well Eric, welcome to WassupBlog and I hope you’ve liked what you’ve seen so far.

Perhaps you best bet is to take it for a spin yourself by using the trial offer. I certainly will be doing updates but that will take time and you know the old saying “Time is money”. :wink_ee:

I think the SEO competition and ranktracker features are the best parts of the program and i use them every day

    1. Thanks Alan, I’ve just started reading some of the tutorials about it and they explain everything so will. I figured I should read it all so that I use it the right way.

  10. Ok here is my 2 cents.
I have been using Market Samurai for over 2 years. I used it when it only had 2 mods and 1st came out for general public testing.

It is NOT just for checking numbers on key words or phrases.

It gives you suggestions for similar key phrases that can all be checked with 1 click. It will show you how many searches locally, trends, competition, Adwords traffic, Phrase to broad…..for all the phrases you have chosen in that search.

You can do an SEO competition for the top 10 ranking sites for that phrase. To see the following – Domain Age, PR, Indexed pages, Page & domain backlinks, # of EDU links, Yahoo or DMOZ listings, Does the site have the keyphrase in the domain, URL, Title, head tag, or description and last cache date.
You can also analyze backlink PR and anchor text of competing sites.

Once you have a site you can also set up the Rank Tracker to track where your site is listed in Yahoo, Bing, and Google. This will give you Broad match and exact match SERP listing.

Does it do Much Much more? YES! But, I Don’t have time to tell you all of it. So, I suggest you follow Sires link and test it for yourself.

You buy this product 1 time and that is it! All the updates and upgrades are delivered as they come out with NO extra cost.

The Market Samurai team is awesome and their Customer support is outstanding!

I just wanted to let everyone know that you could spend masses of time trying to do all of this with just the free tools. I have done it the old way & will never have to waste that much time again thanks to MS!

    1. Sheryl, this comment has a lot more value than 2 cents. Like I said in the post I haven’t tried it yet but I’ve high hopes for it.

Sure many people who are reviewing it have an ulterior motive in that they’re trying to increase their sales, but when someone like you comes in and gives an honest appraisal with absolutely nothing to gain from it, well that really speaks volumes.

Thanks so much for leaving this well constructed and informative comment.
Sire recently posted…Creating Headlines That Have A Truly Emotional Impact On Your ReadersMy Profile

    2. Sheryl and Sire,
I’ve had a website for a long time, but it seems to be less effective now than it was five years ago. Part of the problem is that I got off the technology train one day for a brief rest, and it left the station without me. I’ve been trying to catch up ever since. There’s a whole new language that has developed (that I don’t understand), so when I try to educate myself, I get lost very quickly. Does a product like Market Samurai take the user by the hand, or does it assume a high level of knowledge? Sheryl’s enthusiasm for the product is obvious, but even her comment here addresses many issues that are foreign to me. Can you recommend a way to get myself up to speed, if necessary, before buying Market Samurai? Thanks!

      1. Hi Charles, I would suggest that you follow Sires link to Market Samurai & click on the DOJO tab. There you will find MANY video’s that may help you not only understand how the product works but, also many of the terms. They also have PDF’s.

If you click the SUPPORT tab, they have a forum with users Q&A’s.

For another resource on SEO, you may want to check out SEO Fast Start by Dan Thies. It is a Free PDF download (no email required). This may also help you get a start on SEO. It is not a replacement for a good tool like MS, it is just an seo basic guide to help you get a good grip on what to do with those precious key words.

Otherwise, you are left with the option of tapping into my brain to get info…although there isn’t really much in there. LOL!

@Sire, hope you don’t mind that I jumped in and gave my 2 cents again. If you do mind…you have to come to Vegas to slap me.

        1. Thank you, Sheryl. I appreciate the information, as well as the offer to tap into your brain. First I’ll follow your advice and then try to figure out where to go from there.

          1. Sire, in order for me to get ahead of you, I think you’d have to slip into a coma for two or three years. Or four.

            1. :laugh_tb: Now don’t you go selling yourself short Charles I’m not the smartest tool in the toolbox as far as SEO is concerned.

        2. Are you kidding Sheryl, you know a lot more about Market Samurai than I do, seeing as how I’ve only just bought it and you’ve been using it for a couple of years, so feel free to jump in at any time.

@Charles, the Dojo is where I’m at this very moment and so far it seems as good as Sheryl says. I, like you, can be pretty overwhelmed by this stuff but the keep it very simple. There are videos explaining everything as well as transcripts, which I much prefer because then I can digest it at my own speed.

You don’t have to buy MS to have access so I suggest getting the trial offer so that way you can go through the steps as they explain it to you.
Sire recently posted…FlexSqueeze Latest Update Can Make Your Posts RockMy Profile

          1. Thanks, Sire. I’m definitely going to give this a try.

  11. I’m very apprehensive about trying any marketing claim that’s put in front of me after getting burned in the past, but if they give you a free trial where you can maybe make enough money off of it during that trial to actually pay for the software, then it seems like a win-win situation. This might be worth a shot if it’ll do that.

    1. The trial is for only a week or so, and I’m not sure if everyone could make it earn money in that short amount of time. I think though it is long enough to show you what it can do, and it’s once people see how it works that they decide to buy it.

I’ve been in business for over 30 years and the one thing I have found is that you have to be willing to spend money in order to make it.

  12. Thanks for the post. This is the first time that I have come across Market Samurai, but I see the value from a customer acquisition standpoint. I do a lot online in regards to increasing search engine rankings and I am curious to see exactly how this works and if it crosses over into ‘black hat’ territory.

  13. Hi, I’ve found this much better than googles keyword tool, it’s a lot more accurate and i would reccommend it to anyone else.

I like the idea of being able to set up the rank tracker too. Kathleen

  14. I’m thinking about getting Market Samurai myself. I’m currently using micro niche finder but the search results do not seem very accurate at the moment.

  15. You have definitely made a wise investment with the market samurai keyword tool. I was first introduced to this tool by Steve at commission blueprint and I have been using it ever since.

Once you learn how to use all the different features it provides it will dramatically reduce the time you spend on keyword research. It can analyze the competition on the first page and let you know if it’s worth trying to rank for your chosen keyword term.

It’s definitely worth every penny and you won’t be disappointed with it, as you will find out for yourself. Also, good luck on your new journey.

  18. Great post. I’m a newbie internet marketer, just started for almost a year now. I’ve heard about Market Samurai’s Keyword Research Tool so many times now but have no idea it’s capabilities. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Such an informative post. I’m thinking of using it as well. Thanks again.

    1. I’ve hardly touched on it’s capabilities yet James, as I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet. This post was merely to tell others how exited I am to finally take the plunge to purchase it. Once I know more about it I will be posting updates.

  19. Hi there Sire,
Like you I too have never been quite a person who has never been quite into keyword researching before writing a post but as I read and recapitulate the benefits of Keyword Research, Market Samurai certainly seems one of the best tools to go with. I will certainly try out the trail. Thanks a lot mate

  20. Hi Sire,
I have downloaded the free copy for 12 days and I’m going to test it to see if it better than Google and the other programs on the market. But it look really interesting the first test I did. Thanks for the program.

      1. Unfortunately, I discovered a small problem with Market Samurai during the test days, they send mail every day of the invitation to purchase, a little annoying, let me try one first before I make a decision. Too much pushing for buy there program.

        1. I didn’t know about that because I bought mine on the first day.

Honestly though Lennart, one email a day isn’t too much of an inconvenience. I’m pretty sure that it’s completely automated and the only reason they do it is because it has proven results.

It would be much worse if they didn’t send you reminders and you missed out on the discount they’ve offered.
Sire recently posted…Learning How To Use Market SamuraiMy Profile

  21. I also tried out the free demo of M.S. after seeing it recommended in several highly respected places. After using it extensively for one day I knew I would have to buy it (which I did, hours before the price deadline). I find it especially useful for measuring the competition for a given key phrase. But, I had trouble getting it to generate key phrases that did not have too much competition. After playing with the default filter settings to allow more possible key phrases, I was able to find something with good potential.
Now, I must really sign up to be an affiliate for M.S. as well!

  22. Hi Sire, good post.I recently downloaded the trial version of Market Samurai after watching different reviews on YouTube and other video sites. However, I found it very difficult to use and the results I got were quite hard to understand.(The results varied a lot from those I got from Google´s keyword tool)

So, I got a refund and purchased Micro Niche Finder instead. It has worked great for me.Sire, have you tried MNF?

    1. Hi Tom, nope I haven’t used MNF, actually until now I’ve never heard of it. I reckon I’ll give MS a shot first. There is one thing though, I don’t think it will confuse me as much for one very good reason.

  23. I’ve never actually used this plugin, but i’ve heard all the good reviews, so i bet it does do its job quite well.
I think i’ll give the seven day trial a run to see how things go.
Great post and best of luck.

      1. That means it must have even more potential. I thought all it was, was a plugin that optimized things. Seems like i had no idea what i was thinking :P

  24. Right now, I am using Google keyword tools for finding keywords. Does it make a difference if I am going to use Marketing samurai?

    1. As I said in the post Paul, I’ve only just bought it and so as yet I haven’t had time to test it. I would say though that by the comments left and by what I’ve read elsewhere Market Samurai should be a whole lot better than Google’s keyword tools.

    1. Hey Joel, looks like you’re in luck, I just copied this from their site.

Market Samurai is software for your Mac or PC that streamlines all critical search engine marketing tasks, puts complete market intelligence at your finger-tips, takes away uncertainty, and gives you focus, direction and confidence in your internet marketing.

  37. I personally feel that Market Samurai is currently the best keyword research tool out there. It is the Swiss Army Knife of keyword research. Although it has its limitations you can do everything you need to do to research about a profitable niche using Market Samurai. All hail Eugene Ware and his gang of geniuses!

      1. Actually, I heard that phrase first from Anthony Fernando himself, one of the great guys working at Noble Samurai :)

    1. I’ve had a quick play with it Fernando and I can say I am impressed.

I’ve been using it on my sexual aids blog and it’s given me several ideas. It’s helped me to see that some of the keywords I was using was actually a waste of space.

I’ve still got so much to learn though, but I can say that before MS that blog was showing up on the 5th page of Yahoo for that keyword and now it’s on the first. No such luck for Google, though I have to admit I haven’t done any work on the backlinks yet.

  40. I personally have used both the Adwords Tool from Google, a number of other keyword tools that are free, and the one MS KRT. I don’t personally think that it’s worth it, but one advantage is that you’ll have a whole different set of keyword data to work with that ISN’T necessarily found in AdWords tool. Can potentially be worth it if you’re in an uber competitive niche.

    1. Hey Bobby, I reckon it may not be for everybody, but so far most seem to approve of it.

Your comment is a little conflicting though because in one breath you say it’s not worth it and in the other you say

Can potentially be worth it if you’re in an uber competitive niche.

  44. I think market samurai uses yahoo api, so when you have a doubt you should click on the backlinks number which will open yahoo’s page and see what it returns.

    1. I’m not too sure about that. From what I’ve seen so far it has more to do with Google than Yahoo.

  45. I always try to find new useful plugins to my blog. It’s looking very useful and i will try this.

    1. It’s not a plugin Rakesh, It’s a comprehensive piece of software that you download onto your computer.

  46. I have read a lot about such products, but I doubt whether they actually work. I will be waiting for your future articles about your personal experiences with this Samurai Keyword research tool. No doubt, keyword research is one of the most important factors when it comes to ranking well in SEs.
    Thanks for your article, Sire.

    1. No worries Rajesh, I assure you there will be followup posts and when that happens I won’t be embellishing anything, you’ll get an honest evaluation.

  47. Keyword plays a very important role in internet, it helps you to promote your site. Now a days people use new new techniques to promote sites which in turn brings a lot of traffic to your website and helps your business to grow a lot.

  48. This product is geting a lot of buzz on the net. From your title, I thought you were going to do a review of it, but that’s ok.

All the comments hit on the value enough to make me want to test it out.

Thanks and I’ll use your affiliate link should I purchase it. And good luck in your new venture.

I’ve been self employed about 15 years now, but don’t make any money from blogging.

    1. Hey Rob, that’s pretty well the reason why I bought it. I’ve seen a lot of write ups on it and I’ve been thinking about it for some time. I didn’t think that I could do it justice in the trial period so I just bit the bullet and bought it.

So far I’ve only done 1 tutorial, but the information they’ve given is easy to understand and the program, so far, a breeze to use.

  49. Market Samurai is a lot of things but basically it is a fully equipped market research tool. With Market Samurai you can go into any market and quickly assess that keywords you should use in your campaign. With Market Samurai you can find not only learn about any chosen keyword but you can learn about any chosen keywords competition. When I say learn about your competition I mean know things about them they probably don’t even know about. Imagine not only knowing about your competition’s back links but also the anchor text for those back links!. Market Samurai is definitely the ultimate market research tool.

  50. Wow… it boggles my mind the number of comments you’ve got going here; Great Job!
Doing keyword research has for me always rated about the same as having a root canal performed. Mostly because the tools I could find were written for techno geeks or SEO experts who know the terminology.
From what I’ve read here Samauri would be well worth looking into once I’ve got a few sheckels laid aside.
I will keep watching for updates on your experiences with this. Thanks!

    1. No worries Allan, always happy to inform my readers and there will be updates I can assure you of that.

As to there being so many comments, I think that may have been helped along by the fact that I’ve made this post sticky, speaking of which it’s probably time for it to become unstuck. :smile2_ee:

      1. I have seen that option in the post editor, but have no clue what it means. Would you be so kind as to ‘splain that?

  51. I have been using Market Samurai for over a year now and I still have NOT found any thing else that comes near it! If you are going into the IM business, I suggest you get Market Samurai. You be glad you did…trust me ;) Market Samurai RULES!!

    1. Thanks Victoria, that makes me all the more glad that I actually did buy it.

  52. Hi Sire,

I have been following the video blogs of Eugene from Noble Samurai since before they released the tool. Eugene knows his stuff and Market Samurai is a great tool. Although everything you do in MS you could do “by hand” MS will save you a ton of time, allowing you to research many more niches per day. Here in Calgary using Market Samurai is almost as cool as going to the stampede.

  53. I mostly use it for finding how many backlinks my competition has and who links to them. I find it hard to use for finding keywords because every keyword I search seems to have so much competition it’s just depressing. I figure if I start getting comparable numbers to my competition I may have a chance.

    1. In that case it’s doing it’s job. Imagine if you didn’t use it and ended up sing the wrong keywords, what a waste that would have been. At least you know that there’s too much competition for those ones you’ve researched so far. Don’t give up, just keep trying.

I’ve found that those times when the keywords I’m researching has too much competition MS has come up with alternatives that I never thought of which worked pretty well.

  54. MS is great for finding keywords and ranking information but man, is it ever slow…… I used to think it was due to the time it takes to retrieve this kind of info from google etc. but after using other tools such as ranktracker for checking my rankings and scrapebox’s keyword generation tool, there really is no discernible explanation to my mind as to why MS takes so long to return basic search information!

    1. Hey Andy, I’m not sure what you mean by slow mate. I can’t compare it to other programs as it’s the only one I use, what I can say though is that I’m quite happy with it. It seems to do most calculations in a relatively short time.

      1. Yeah, it maybe more my setup up as i’ve never heard anyone else compain about the speed MS collates data. In comparison though, ranktracker takes approx 5 seconds to fetch my google positions from around 200 keywords, MS generally takes about 2-3 minutes to fetch the same data. Although i think MS looks great and has a nice UI, i think being built upon the Adobe AIR platform, which although great for cross compatability (its nice to have some SEO software running native on a mac), it’s slightly sluggish. Maybe i’m just an impatient bugger though who demand instant 0.0001 second screen updates whenever i click a button. Don’t think i’m bashing MS too much though, its is a great piece of kit and the amount of mileage you can get from it for the RRP is great, the guys also do an excellent job of releasing updates and support on pretty much a daily basis. I am starting to wonder if the Adwords module will ever get released as this would be great for my business.

        1. Hey Andy, you hit the nail on the head mate, you’re just an impatient bugger :lol_ee:

Seriously though, it could be almost anything that is slowing it down. Computers are funny that way, it could be working great on one system and be bloody slow on another.

At the moment I’m working on the PC and the page is loading pretty slowly, but if I load the same page on my MacBook Air it loads a lot quicker. Same internet provider and everything so by all rights there shouldn’t be a difference.

  55. Ive been using the market samurai tool for around 6 months now and its been fantastic. One thing i have noticed though is a possible flaw with the rank tracking feature. About 2 weeks ago one of my targeted keywords shot up in the 10 on google, but when i go to rank tracker now, it still shows position 26!? Is anyone else having this problem?

  56. I tested the “market samurai” during the free trial period
I think it’s a good software, one of the best around for price/quality ratio
MS will not make you get rich with your blog in a few days
MS is a tool that must be used wisely and you must know how to use
If a program was enough to become a professional, now we would all be specialists

    1. Yep, like any good tool you have to learn how to use it to get the best out of it.
