Update On Buy Online Lottery Tickets

As it’s been just under three months since the birth of Buy Online Lottery Tickets I thought it would be a good time to do an update on how things are going. To date I’ve pretty well kept to the strategies outlined in my How I Am Marketing My Online Lottery Niche and I’m sure that those of you who have read that post would be interested in hearing how things are tracking so far.

Naturally an important part of any successful site is traffic and the cheapest way to get traffic to your site is to rank highly for your selected keywords. I used Market Samurai to help me choose the domain name buyonlinelottotickets.com so it shouldn’t be too hard to figure out what keywords I was aiming at….Buy Online Lotto Tickets :drunk_tb:  OK, let’s see how I’m ranking for these, and other closely related keywords.

SERPs For Buy Online Lotto Tickets

For those of you who don’t know, SERPS stands for Search Engine Results Page and getting a good result in the SERPs means getting on the first page the search engine results.

  • Buy Online Lotto Tickets: I still don’t rank for Google but I’m #1 on Yahoo and Bing
  • Buy Online Lottery Tickets: Again, zip for Google but #1 on Yahoo and Bing
  • Buy Lotto Tickets Online: Google is such an arse because they still won’t rank me :annoyed_tb: At least Bing and Yahoo are more generous as I’m #2 with them
  • Buy Lottery Tickets Online: Yeah, you guessed it, nothing on Google but #2 on Bing and Yahoo.

Sort of makes you wonder what Google’s problem is doesn’t it? :smile2_ee: What is really weird is although they don’t recognise it as far as SERPs go, they’ve see fit to grace it with a ranking of PR3! :lol_ee: Even some of the internal pages have received a PR1 ranking. That alone would make some bloggers a little green with envy. :sick_ee:

Analytic For Buy Online Lotto Tickets

Google Analytic

While it appears to have flatlined there for several days, that’s only because I forgot to transfer the Google Analytic code after updating the theme. Even so, you can still get a rough idea on how the site is tracking and while traffic is still relatively low it’s to be expected considering the age of the site.

As for the traffic sources, 33% have been sent from search engines, a number that will increase once it starts ranking highly in Google.

traffic source overview

The only thing left to tell you is how much income the site is actually producing. So far, it’s only made a couple of conversions but at least they are producing a small but steady income. I still have high hopes for the site and I’m sure that over time as I continue to grow my member base it  will provide me with a nice steady income.

How I Am Marketing My Online Lottery Niche

The trouble with most sites out there is they’re so quick to tell you how easy it is to make money online, usually because they’re trying to sell you something, but they fail to tell you how hard it is to drive traffic to those sites which is so important because if you don’t have traffic you won’t make money. If you’ve been following my posts you know about my latest niche, Buy Online Lotto Tickets, and you know how I came up with the idea for this latest niche. Don’t worry if you haven’t read them yet as I will leave some related links at the end of this post.

Well, coming up with the idea and setting up the niche was by far the easiest part of this latest venture, now comes the hard part, getting the site noticed by the search engines and the myriad of potential online lottery customers. That’s where this post comes into play, I’m going to tell you what I’ve done so far in my marketing plan.

Backlink Strategy.

Getting backlinks is probably the most important thing, apart from providing good content, in marketing because if done correctly it will increase your search engine ranking thereby increasing potential traffic. While I could go out and purchase the links I know most people can’t afford that route so I’m taking the popular free route. :thumbup_tb:

  • Blog commenting: Commenting on other peoples blogs, especially if they use commentluv and keyword love, is the best way I know of getting backlinks. If you leave good quality comments, ones that stir the readers emotions, you will do more than just get a valuable backlink, you’re also likely to drive traffic from the post you left the comment on.
  • Leaving a comment in forums is also another way of getting backlinks, it’s the first way I used to do it but it’s taken a back seat to blog commenting. The last comment I left on a forum was this one, another one of my sites.
  • You could ask to exchange links with other bloggers. I’ve never gone that route because I don’t really like to ask for favours, even though it’s not really a favour, it’s more of a business proposition. Even so I have been getting my links on other blogs but that’s just because I own them.

Zaparena

I’ve done a few posts about Zaparena and before you go telling me how Google frowns on traffic exchange sites I think you should read this post, Will Google Penalise You For Using Zaparena? Still, you never know with Google :ponder_tb: The beauty about the way I’m utilising Zaparena is I don’t  have to have it’s ads on my lotto site and I do this by incorporating it’s ‘teaser’ feature. You see as soon as you send 20 people to Zaparena you’re allowed to post a teaser on their site which to all accounts is an ad. As I have several teasers on offer I decided to use them to promote my online lottery site.

As you can see from my teaser ad there’s no naked ladies and that’s just the way I want it because I am looking for targeted traffic. I’ve also used an accurate description of what I’m promoting so that anyone who clicks on it gets exactly what they are looking for. That ad will take them to How To Create A Online Passive Income which promotes my new lottery niche as well as the MyLotto affiliate. This is important because it may encourage others to try the niche and when they make money so will I.

Squidoo

I thought this a great time to create a new Squidoo lens, one called Picking The Right Affiliate. I’ve used Squidoo before with a modicum of success so I thought it would a great way to promote my newest venture. If you’re a Squidoo member I would really appreciate you giving that post a ‘thumbs up’, you know, clicking on that little thumb icon at the bottom of the screen :wink_ee: Do that for me and I will return the favour. Leave a comment and I will leave a comment on one of your lenses. In other words you scratch my back and I will scratch yours.

If you haven’t joined Squidoo yet I urge that you consider taking the plunge. You can create your first lens by clicking on this link. Apart from gaining those important backlinks it’s a great way to build your brand and show people how knowledgeable you really are. Once you have joined don’t forget to fill in your bio as it allows you to insert some important links, links that will point others to your sites. Try it and I’m sure you will like it.

Apart from a couple of Tweets thats all I’ve done for the moment. Other tactics I have planned include:

  • Starting a FaceBook Fan Page
  • Updating MySpace
  • Updating Linkedin
  • A possible YouTube video, if I can work out the right angle
  • Some new articles for article directories

That’s about it for now but I’m sure that in my excitement to get this post published I’ve missed a hell of a lot out. I’m not worried thought because that’s what I have you guys for and what the comment section is all about. What things would you do to market a new niche and how would you go about it?

In my last post, The Secret To Online Success Is Passive Income, I told you all about how the secret to making money online is to pick those products that offered you a good source of passive income. I also told you, because of my past success in promoting lotteries, how I intended to boost my income by starting yet another blog, this one being a niche blog that is all about offering people ways of buying lottery tickets online. While I purchased several domains for this purpose I decided on Buy Online Lotto Tickets as the one best suited for the purpose.

Once I decided on the domain I needed to work out who was going to host my latest blog. At first I thought I would use BlueHost and I was part way through signing up a new account when I noticed they didn’t accept PayPal and I really wanted to start using up some of my PayPal funds. I could have used the add on domains feature which would have been free but I really wanted it to have it’s own IP address so the traffic wouldn’t slow down my other blogs.

I then checked out HostGator who I use for three of my blogs, and yes they did accept PayPal. As I had no intention at using add on domains I went for their $3.96/month plan, although I did have to sign on for three years to get that great price I was fine with that because this blog was going to supply money for me well into my old age. :smile2_ee: Once the account was open I set up my latest WordPress using their auto feature, so much easier than doing it all yourself. It even came with a plugin that I’ve never seen before but is loaded with cool features. More on that in another post. :smile1_ee:

To cut a long story short, in a matter of a few days my latest blog is now live. My first post lists The Top 5 Reasons For Buying Your Lottery Tickets Online. It’s even got it’s first comment, although once I’ve finished this I’m going to delete it because the commentator did not adhere to the blog’s comment policy. Even though the blog only went live two days ago I’ve already been asked by major lottery site to become an affiliate for them. I’m talking about MyLotto.com and as an affiliate I can now promote lotteries from all over the load. As an affiliate you would also be able to tap into this lucrative market.

Click Now!

As an affiliate I was able to use their links on my theLotter.com page. Although I’ve used this page to highlight the benefits of joining with a spattering of links to all the most opportune landing pages I plan on refining it even more adding even more value to it.

I’m so glad that I bought the FlexSqueeze theme because it’s made setting up the new blog, giving it a real professional feel about it, so easy. I have no plans for using Adsense, Infolinks or any other revenue earning network as I don’t want to distract the attention of my visitors from the sites main purpose, that of providing them with the means of purchasing lottery tickets online.

$20 Million Dollar Halloween Superdraw

The last week or so I’ve been getting emails reminding me of the $20 Million Super Draw. There is nothing unusual about this apart from the fact that they have been advertising it as some sort of Halloween lottery draw as it is drawn on 31st of October. Perhaps Halloween is bigger in Australia than I’ve given it credit for.

Regardless of that I’m going to have a go at this weeks, partly because it’s worth 20 Million Dollars and partly because I may need the cash to pay for my BMW repairs.

Seeing as how they were advertising it as a Halloween special, I thought that perhaps they had some ‘Halloween Banners” celebrating the fact. After checking out their site I could only find their run of the mill Superdraw banners.

Like I’ve said in previous posts, this is a reputable, fully licensed and accredited Australian lottery site site, who aren’t too fussed whose money they take. They’re even running a special where their giving away 2 free games with your first purchase.

Keeping with the Halloween theme I’ve found two videos that I thought you would like. The first is of a skeleton that has a misbehaving penis.

This next one is a Halloween prank gone wrong.

Aussie Powerball Jackpots To $80 Million

It looks like once again we have a major Jackpot on our hands as there wasn’t any winners in last nights $50 million jackpot. This means that next Thursday, 30/07/09 winnings has now jack potted to $80 million. That is unbelievable as it was only a couple of weeks ago that we had the $90 million super draw, and while this is a tad smaller, it’s still pretty good, so don’t miss out, get your PowerBall tickets  online!

Anyway, here are the winning numbers for those of you who missed last nights draw. I hope that even though you missed out on the big one you still managed to pocket some winnings.

Draw Date Draw No Numbers Supps
23/07/2009 688 12,2,17,18,7 43

The rules to the game is really quite simple. There are forty-five balls numbered 1 to 45 from which five winning numbers are randomly selected. A sixth ball, the “Powerball”, is then drawn from a separate machine containing another forty-five balls numbered 1 to 45.

The minimum number of games you must play in your Powerball entry is 2. You can play any number of standard game panels up to 12 plus up to 36 games if you choose a quickpick entry.

Powerball game prizes are split into divisional prize pools just as with the other lotto games. These run from Division 1 which is the top prize through to Division 5 which is the bottom prize. The divisions work as below:

  • Division 1: Get all 5 winning numbers from the first machine draw plus the 1 Powerball number from the second machine draw.
  • Division 2: Get all 5 winning numbers from the first machine draw.
  • Division 3: Get any 4 winning numbers from the first machine draw plus the 1 Powerball number from the second machine draw.
  • Division 4: Get any 3 winning numbers from the first machine draw plus the 1 Powerball number from the second machine draw.
  • Division 5: Get any 3 winning numbers from the first machine draw.

That’s pretty well all there is to it.

Luckily for me I don’t have to fight the crowds to buy a ticket, and believe me it’s going to get pretty bad out there, especially as everybody leaves it to the las minute. I’m taking the easy route by buying it my tickets online. This also gives me the added bonus of being able to check my tickets online as well. No more having to worry about making a mistake and throwing a good ticket away.

If you are not yet a member of Oz Lotteries, the mob I buy tickets online from, now would be a great time to join. The beauty about it is that it’s not limited just to Aussies, you Yanks and Poms can play as well. :) Oh, and last time I bought a ticket I was actually able to use PayPal to make the purchase.

In case you are wondering about the validity of this site you needn’t worry, as a member I can personally vouch for them, even though all my winnings so far have been relatively small. You may find this quote from their about page of interest…

Oz Lotteries is the exclusive distributor of lottery products via the Internet on behalf of leading Australian lottery exporters, TMS Global Services Pty Ltd and TMS New South Wales.

As I’ve already mentioned, I’ve been a member for a couple of years and though my winnings have been small, I’ve been paid on every one of them.

EDIT: Lottery Results for Thursday 30/07/09. Hope you were lucky.
