I am very fortunate to have two Heathers in my life, I’ll call them Heather I and Heather II. Naturally Heather I was the first, a most delectable woman who has a wonderful blog called Happymaking, her last post Fiction Or Bust, all about her aspirations of writing her first novel. This post is partly due to her as she once commented on one of my posts;

Sire, it was wonderful to read more about you. I love finding out what makes people tick, why they do the things they do. Especially people I know.

Then there is Heather II. I must be totally honest here in admitting that at first I thought that Heather II was Heather I, I just thought that she had changed her avatar. :doh_tb: Being the dumb ox that I am it took me quite awhile before I realized that I wasn’t talking to Heather I at all and that another totally new, and much younger Heather II had come into my life. Nothing like a change of pace, wouldn’t you say? :devil_tb:

But I digress. You see, whilst leaving a comment oh Heather II’s blog The 3D Student I mentioned how I failed art and had a self portrait that I once painted, and she said how she would like to see it. She also graciously included me in a meme called Sunshine Awards and as I don’t partake in them I’m hoping that this link will suffice.

So you see, this post aims to please both Heather I and heather II, Heather I because she will learn a little more about me and Heather II because she will finally get to see some of my artwork.

One thing you must all know is that I am not the same person that I was when I was much younger. I was always trying to find the path of least resistance. During PE when we were supposed to run a mile around the school, Malcolm, my best friend, and I found a short cut so that we could walk most of the way.

Actually thinking of Malcolm I remember a time when our PE teacher, Bazza, got Malcolm to swim out to the center of the pool and I was supposed to swim out and saved him.I tried to tell Bazza that I couldn’t swim but he made me go out anyway and as it turned out I started drowning and my mate saved me instead. Stupid dumb Bazza, you should have seen the look on his face.

But once again I digress. You see, to save time I used to borrow ideas from other sources, usually novels, for my school artwork. That one of the skull you see above was adapted from a John Wyndham novel, and happens to be my favorite piece.

This next one had pretty well the same background but the subject matter, as you can see was a city in flask. I reckon I must of thought that was what the world was heading for, and it was way before global warming and probably had more to do with Russians and nukes.

This background for this next painting was pinched from another novel, yeah I know I was a bad boy, but you have to remember that at that particular time I had shit for brains. Anyway, it was supposed to depict the fight of good over evil.

One of the artists that I admired was Wassily Kadinski, a Russian painter, and this next one was a painting that I tried painting in his style. Nope, this time it was part of the Art course as we had to do something in the style of a famous artist.

Next we have a painting of the Stonehenge, don’t know how this one came about but it did.

That was pretty well it for school. Some years later I decided to do another painting and seeing as how I liked Wassily Kadinski so much I decided to do another one using his style, only this time I used oil paint as a medium.

That same year, 1984, I decided to do my final painting, a self portrait and  once again in oil. I found working in oil was a whole lot better than acrylic.

And so my dear Heather I, Heather II and readers, I hope you enjoyed learning a little more of what lies behind Sire the blogger.

Blog Me This You Blogging Fools

OK my blogging mates, I think it’s time that I tempt fate by writing another of my poems, and seeing as how What Bloggers Do was so popular I thought that I would use this one to pass on a little link love, that and a very important message! In case you didn’t get it, if you haven’t got the ‘Subscribe To Comments‘ plugin I seriously suggest you put it on the ‘To Do’ list. OK, enough with the commentary, it’s time to read the poetry.

Blog me this you blogging fool
Are you using the right blogging tools
Subscribe To Comments you need for sure
This plugin should be part of your plugin core

Why this plugin I hear you ask?
For your commenter’s it’s less of a task
To remind them when someone replies
They will love it, I tell you no lies

There’s many a blogger wise and true
Who’ve made this plugin part of their crew
They know that those who left a comment
Would love to know of added content

There’s many a blog I will read
And Leaving a comment is part of my creed
But unless I’m reminded of what I’ve left
That post of further comments will be bereft

There are many blogs I love to read
And of these blogs I must concede
They see me more than the rest
Because in this plugin they did invest

TycoonBlogger, he’s no fool
Using this plugin makes him cool
He loves to hand out blogging tips
And this ones about adding a video clip.

Stratos I’ve know for quite awhile
There’s more than one post that I’ve found worthwhile
If you can’t find a plugin to get the job done
Stratos is the man that can make you one

Embracing Home, I have only just found
Her blog is based on very firm ground
More than just letting God’s light shining
Learn also how to lose weight while dining

Bunny Got Blog is not about bunnies
Nor is it about how to make money
Oriented around business you will find it hot
But careful you must be or she’ll kick your bots

Not been to iblogZone, well your missing out
This blogging man has without a doubt
Many a post that does more than instruct you
He even posts on how to increase Adsense revenue

More in common than the plugin they use
These bloggers on this blog to comment they choose
If you wish to feature in a poem one day
Perhaps more than reading you should have your say

If this poem you did enjoy
Then I’d love if you did employ
To give it a stumble, tweet or a digg
Or perhaps another of your social gigs :wink_ee:

Wassup Blogs You Beaut Huge Link Love Fest

I haven’t been spreading any link love of late so I thought that I should make up for it by doing an extra big one.

  • The first on the list goes to Meg Tsiamis who out of the kindness of her heart maintains the Top 100 Australian Blogs of which I am listed as #41, Darren Rowse, more commonly known as the ProBlogger sits on #1. Sorry that it took so long Meg, but you know what they say mate, better late than never. Meg also has co-founded the successful Aussie Bloggers site that has a very popular forum.
  • The next link goes to Nicolas Prudhon who is a wealth of information on anything Seo related. He can even show you how to pick Google’s brain to your best advantage. And all this time I thought Google to be a heartless conglomerate; I never even imagined it to have a brain.
  • Now what would a link love fest be without including the lovely Kristi of Kikolani fame who has diligently maintained her weekly Fetching Friday series which is really popular with the folks. Kristi is only recently married so head on over and offer your congratulations, and while there be amazed at her poetry, photos and many other blogging entries.
  • Now, I’d better not forget Mitch of I’m Just Sharing, who seems a little preoccupied with Google’s Health. I would not be the blogger I am today if Mitch was not constantly on my back picking up on spelling and grammatical errors. I’m sure he just reads the blog to see if he can catch me out on something.
  • Kim Woodbridge is the owner of another blog I like to frequent. She has just taken a big step in her life and decided to go freelance full time. She’s just posted a nice article called Freelancing During a Recession, and I must admit this sheila has balls for taking such a big step in such a difficult time. I mean that in the nicest way possible Kim.
  • The next blog belongs to another sheila who may have seen around the traps as ‘Gromap’ or ‘Internet Strategist’.  She’s just started a new series How to Create a Successful Blog Based Business Part 1, which I think many of you will find interesting.
  • ThouShallBlog sounds a lot like one of the Commandments, but in reality it is a blog that is visited by a whole heap of people and all because they are very interested in what Yan has to say. If you are not making any money blogging, perhaps it has something to do with the kind of traffic you are getting. Lest You Make This SEO Mistake Too can be a bit of an eyeopener.
  • One of the things that I love about blogging is that you meet people from all around the globe, and one of those talented bloggers I met is a Stratos from the lovely land of Greece. I’ve learned a lot from him and he has helped me more than once. There are two posts you may be interested in; The big one: TweetScribe.me, (and honestly I don’t know why more people have signed up fro this) and another great PR Checker plugin which can be really useful for those blog lists.
  • Of course there is always Sheryl Loch, who has a great gift of the gab, and an unique way with words, especially when leaving comments. I especially loved her It’s Not You, It’s Your Domain post, which is really a great plug for hosting your own blog. There is one thing that I wish Sheryl would do, and that is to get a ‘subscribe to comment’ plugin so that I can keep track of when someone replies to a witty comment I left.

Well that’s it for today. You may have noticed that I haven’t included any Pro Blogger type blogs, because frankly, apart from not needing any extra juice, I find that many of them just aren’t up to scratch. That and the fact that a lot of the comments left on those blogs are by people who are just trying to suck up to the bloggers, telling them what a great post it was and other dribble that I would normally delete.
