Good Friday And What It Means To Me

In reverence to Good Friday I have made an executive decision and decided to forgo the Friday Funnies for this week. Instead I’m going to write about what Good Friday means to me. I know a lot of you will probably skip this because you’re not religious but please don’t because I honestly believe that the story behind Good Friday can hold special significance even to those who don’t believe in a divine being, a God who loves us so much that He gave his only begotten Son up for sacrifice, a choice Jesus made willingly.

However, before I get to that I want to state to all who read this post that I do believe.

I Believe In God

I believe in God, a God who loves us and is so powerful that He created all that weflower have and see around us. No matter how great man’s achievements are they pale to insignificance when held up to the beauty and magnificence of even God’s smallest creation.

God to me is the Almighty, He is the Father of all and as a Father He wants all his children to enjoy His creation, to learn, to grow and to prosper and all He asks in return is that we believe in Him and in all that He has done for us. I also believe that alone is not enough as He also wants us to live a life that is pure, full of love for Him and those others who are also his children and therefore are also our brothers and Sisters.

I Believe In Jesus

I believe in Jesus! I believe that he is the Son of God. I believe that He walked amongst usJesus On A Cross as a man, that he suffered all the things that we suffer and that He did this in order to know everything that we go through. I believe that although He went through all the temptations He did not succumb to one of them.

I believe that as the Son of God and because of his great faith He performed many miracles while amongst us from the changing of water to wine to the raising of the dead.

I believe that he suffered the ultimate sacrifice by dying on the cross for us so that all who believe in Him and all that He did for us can be saved.

I believe that He arose on the third day, that he ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, our God.

What Jesus Went Through

There are many who have made the ultimate sacrifice and of those many are reckoned as heroes. One that comes to mind is the brave and gallant soldier who steps in front of a comrade to save him from a bullet or even throws himself on a grenade sacrificing himself so that others can live. As brave as those actions are they are usually instinctive and done on the spur of the moment. One has to wonder how many of those brave and gallant people would go through with that brave act if they had the time, hours, days or even weeks, to reflect on what they were about to do.

I think of how stressed I get when thinking of the upcoming dentist appointment, or even when having to go to the doctors knowing that I could possible get an injection,,,,I hate needles  :no_way: I can’t even imagine what Jesus willingly went through knowing full well all the suffering that was in his path.

There was one movie that gave me an inkling of what Jesus had to go through and that was Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ (Widescreen Edition) I try to put aside viewing time every Easter to watch that movie so that it highlights just a little what Jesus went through for us.

If I have any regrets in life its that I’m not as good a Christian as I good be. I know I am far from perfect but I do know that all those times when I do the right thing it’s because I took the time to reflect on all that Jesus went through, asking myself what Jesus would have done if he was in my position.

I love reading the bible because it teaches me so much. Every time I take it up I learn something new. If people would only take the time to follow it’s teaching the world would be a better place. I know it’s helped me in my blogging career because I was able to take the time to reflect on it’s teaching. That’s why I don’t let people’s personal preference affect the way I feel or think and why I am able to offer them a polite discourse rather than attacking them angrily through the comments.

If nothing else, the way that Jesus carried Himself while He was on this earth is something that everyone should aspire to.

Happy Easter everybody. May the love of Jesus guide you in all that you do.

Easter, It’s More Than Just A Public Holiday

Today is Good Friday and for those who believe in the religious meaning of Easter it is the day that Jesus died for us. He died so that our sins could be forgiven and so that all who believe in Him would be saved. What I find remarkable is not that he died for us, but that He endured so much for us. He was literally on death row but unlike criminals who have it forced on them He did it by choice. Even though He could have walked away from it anytime He wanted to, He chose not to.

Although they spat on Him, ridiculed Him, tormented Him and told all manner of lies just so He could be falsely accused, He bore it all, silently and with great humility. Surely His words while on the cross, “My God, My God, Why Hast Thou Forsaken Me!” must show the desperation He must have felt, and yet He never strayed from making the ultimate sacrifice.

Jesus On A Cross

There are many forms of self sacrifice
Most of them coming at a price
There is nothing a mother won’t give
So a better life her children would live

A soldier in the middle of a fight
Sees his comrade in a dire plight
Without a moments thought, a decision made
He throws himself onto a hand grenade

What better sacrifice in this world exists
Than to give ones life so another isn’t missed
There was a time when a man with a choice
Chose not to defend himself with his voice

One of his own, with a kiss was he betrayed
Though His soul tortured, His path was not swayed
To the high priest was He taken
Denied three time, ones faith was shaken

Upon a cross was He crucified
Suffering for all had this man died
What greater sacrifice can a man give
So that those who believe in Him may live

On the third day Jesus rose from the dead
Some did not believe until they saw where He bled
The Holy Spirit upon them he bestowed
To give them strength so that seeds may be sewed

So those who believe know their sins are forgiven
So to pass on the Word they are driven
So everyone learns of God’s gift of grace
And upon the strength of the Word they build their base

A Happy Easter To All.

Of Easter, PR Updates And Other Things

First off I would like to wish everybody a Happy Easter. I’ve been listening to the radio a lot, as I am wont to do, and I’ve noticed a lot of people complaining how they are tired of us Christians forcing our ways onto them, how they are going to eat meat on Good Friday and they hope the smell coming from their barbies are going to make us jealous. :lol_tb:

Firstly, as a Christian I’m not at all fussed whether you eat meat on Good Friday or not. I decide not to and as it’s a choice that I’ve made, so the whiff of steak sizzling on a barbie has no effect whatsoever. I also don’t push my ideals onto others so if you choose to not believe in Jesus and all that he’s done for us, that being that He died on the cross so that those who believed could be saved, then that is fine also.

I know that nothing I can say can make a person a believer, only God can do that, and so I don’t try. I remember Saul of Tarsus who hated Christians, doing all that he could to persecute them, who one day became the strongest of believers. I reckon when God finds someone who has it in them to be a good Christian He will send them a sign, but then it’s up to that person to do with it as he will.

So, if you don’t believe in God, that’s fine, at least use the Easter period to spend some time with your family.

As to PR updates it seems that once again I’ve been given the Google Nod as Google has lifted this evil dofollow blog to a PR 4, once again reaffirming my post The Myth That DoFollow Leaches Your PR! Having said that it could be that it also has a lot to do that I heavily moderate my comments deleting those that I feel do not add something to the post. Yes it’s more work, and yes some people may not like it, especially those that get deleted, but then all they have to do is try a little harder and their comment will be accepted to the benefit of all.

I would also like to thank Jannie for selecting me as one of the 18 reasons why people should subscribe to her blog :devil_tb:   If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like spending a whole lifetime of chasing hogs, ropin’ wild turkeys and jumpin’ nekkid into the cement-pond at night you will want to read her blog.

Anyway, the family is starting to wake up, the wife’s made me a coffee and once I’ve had that we’re off to Church to celebrate Easter and then off to some family get togethers to celebrate our the closeness of our family and our faith in our Saviour, Jesus the Son of God.

Hey guys, changing my blog theme to represent the different holiday season, whether it be Christmas, Halloween, Easter or whatever is something that I always wanted to do but never did because it was all too damn hard. Not with the FlexSqueeze Theme, once I had picked the banner and background images it only took me five minutes.

The best thing is that I know I can restore the blog to it’s previous setup with the click of the mouse. The reason it is so simple is because the FlexSqueeze Theme admin page allows me to save my previous setup as a CSV file, which I called Wassupblog.csv, so when Easter is over I just import that file and the blog is restored to it’s original setting. Pretty neat huh? I can have a separate CSV file for absolutely any occasion, that I can tweak to my hearts content and incorporate as simple as 1,2,3.

Anyway, while I’ve got your attention, I may as well write about something that bloggers do when the need arises. Bloggers as a whole stick together and when we see a mate who is promoting something worthwhile, whether its a service or perhaps an easier more profitable way of doing things, we help them by letting others know what that service or need is. We do this by linking to their blog.

I know that there are many bloggers who for one reason or another are finding it hard to keep up with their posting regime. When you’ve worked hard to build up a decent readership base the last thing that you want is to lose it just because of some unsuspected circumstance that have taken you away from maintaining your normal posting routine.

It’s important to keep your blogs updated because the moment you start to slack off people become disappointed and begin to unsubscribe and you start to lose your hard fought for readership. Once lost it can become difficult to get them back.

Now I will get to the part on how I am going to help my mate Mitch who is offering a very important and useful service that will help bloggers in this situation. Mitch, for a very reasonable price will write original articles for anyone in need. Just by reading Mitch’s blog you will see what a proficient writer he is, and not making use of  his talent and letting your blog lose traction would be a terrible shame.
