Choose A Professional Theme

When blogging for money the most important item on your list should be a professional theme because like it or not they're going to judge you on how your blog looks. If you're like me you will want a theme that not only looks good it has to be easy to use as well.

I use the FlexSqueeze theme because I found it can do all the things I wanted it to do. This post gives you a sample of what FlexSqueeze is capable of.

Making Money With Amazon

The reason many people join Amazon as an affiliate is because of the range of products they have available for sale. My tool of choice as an Amazon affiliate would have to be WPZon Builder!

The post Why I Love WP Zon Builder gives you a sample of what this exceptional plugin is capable of. In short the main positives would have to be the ease of use and the ability to import the customer reviews into your post.

Choosing The Right Affiliate

Most people who make money online have hit on the right affiliate to promote. This particular Post will direct you to other posts that highlight some of the ways that I have made money online!

They also say the secret to making money online is choosing the right niche. One of the niches I've chosen to add to my online income has to do with the growing Online Lottery industry.

Monetize Your Blog With LinkShare

A couple of posts back I wrote about Products You Can Promote On your Blog and I thought it only fitting that this post should offer you a way to promote other products other than just your hosting package, theme or even your favourite WordPress plugins. Even though I’ve only just joined LinkShare I thought I’d share it with you and yes that is an affiliate link so as a LinkShare affiliate you can also promote it to your readers.

What Is LinkShare

I am so glad you asked, but honestly, you didn’t have to shout. :laugh_tb:   If I was to put it in a nutshell LinkShare is an affiliate network that allows it’s publisher to promote a whole range of products. If I was to compare it to a similar network it would have to be Commission Junction. Something that sets it apart from Commission Junction is that LinkShare was recently named the #1 Affiliate Network in the world by mthink. They didn’t just pull their name out of a hat either as over 5,000 people participated in the survey including Advertisers, Publishers and Agencies.

All in all 20 Affiliate Networks were included in the survey so coming in #1was quite an achievement. Commission Junction came in second and ClickBank came in sixth. Other affiliates in the survey include ShareASale, Amazon, Pepperjam and even the Google Affiliate Network. Here’s a little bit about LinkShare from their about page.

LinkShare Corporation provides e-commerce businesses with a wide range of online marketing services including Search Marketing (SEM), Lead Generation and Affiliate Marketing. Advertisers can increase their online sales by leveraging LinkShare’s massive performance marketing network, along with expert consultative services and patented technology. Superior service combined with technology innovation allows Advertisers and Publishers to acquire and retain new customers, increase revenue and drive results.

LinkShare clients include Fortune 500 and other prominent and emerging companies doing business online, including J.C. Penney, 1-800-Flowers.com, American Express, and Avon Products. LinkShare was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in New York City, with offices in San Francisco, Chicago, Tampa, London and Tokyo.

That’s only the tip of the iceberg as you can also promote companies such as AT&T, Barnes & Nobles, Buy.com, Florsheim, Fujitsu, Macy’s and the list goes on. Honestly, if you can’t find a product to promote on LinkShare then you may as well give affiliate marketing up.

Another good reason for joining is unlike a lot of other networks, when signing up, you can select the payment threshold for when you get paid. This is great for those blogs that don’t have as much traffic as it means they don’t have to wait an unreasonable time to reach those high thresholds in order to trigger their payment.

I know there will be people thinking that there’s no need to join because they’re already a member of Commission Junction or some other affiliate network and that’s fine but have you ever thought of the old saying about putting all your eggs in one basket? That’s a very dangerous thing to do. Drop that basket and all you’re left with is a sorry mess.

The Products You Can Promote On Your Blogs

Out of all the emails I get from my readers the one question that comes up the most is a variation of the following; “Sire, everywhere I go I read that if I want to make money on my blog I really need a product of my own to promote. The problem is I don’t have one and so I really need some advice as to what products I actually can promote.”

Naturally, all the emails were different but that quote portrays the general gist of the emails. Its safe to say that this problem is one that many bloggers struggle with and it is in fact one that I struggled with for a few years myself. The obvious reason is that bloggers, like myself, don’t have our own product to promote and probably never will have. That being the case we join sites like Commission Junction, Clickbank and the like to promote their products by placing links in our post or somewhere else on our blogs. They may get the occasional click but rarely generate a sale and the main reason for this is because there’s usually no relation between the product and what we’re writing about. Even when there is there’s nothing to substantiate our reference to the product unless we’ve shown in some way that we’re actually using the product in question.

The Right Product Will Create Sales

Even though I was making quite a bit of money from doing paid posts it wasn’t until I actually started to invest in my blog that they started to produce income on a more regular basis. How does one invest in their blog? Read the rest of this entry

Final Stats For 2009 December Was A Surprise

Isn’t it funny that although we are into the new year, one of my first posts is about something that happened last year. It is in fact the statistics for December 2009. I’m actually quite surprised by them because I thought, seeing as how it was leading up to Christmas and all, that they would be quite low.

As you can see Adsense was up a fraction and although I would like it to be a lot higher I’m pretty stoked with anything that comes my way considering I don’t bother all that much with SEO and keywords etc.

Voxsant went up to two cents which is 100% increase :lol_tb: and before anyone goes telling me it’s not worth keeping I use them for the content they provide rather than the monetary value.

TOTAL: $291.98

Looking through those I notice that E-Junkie is pretty consistent and that Jumbo Affiliates performed rather well, probably because of all the jackpots this month. Even though Amazon didn’t make any sales it generated a lot more clicks because of ad placements and I reckon they may perform better this year.

I also did a lot better with advertisers, so perhaps they’re starting to realize the benefits of advertising on WassupBlog. Paid posts were also up and that’s cool considering the few I took were the pick of the bunch as I knocked back over $200 worth of tasks.

So, that’s probably the last stats report that I’ll be doing as I don’t expect to be doing these posts this year.

Wassup’s With The November’s Statistics

Ho, Ho, Ho….as we enter the festive month of December, it’s time to post November’s statistics. As I expected, it didn’t come anywhere near to October’s total of $193.22, but then I wasn’t at all surprised as it was unreasonable to think that Commission Junction would be able to pull out another magical sale from the magician’s hat.

Still, it wasn’t all that bad as Google was up nearly $9 which is roughly a 40% increase. Let’s have a look at the stats shall we.

TOTAL : $95.87

As you can see, while there were some poor performers, or even non performers, others maintained or even improved on previous results. E-Junkie has been the most consistent performer, other than Adsense, and it can be attributed to all those people who see the sense in having a professional theme such as FlexSqueeze.

What was really surprising was that about half of my Adsense earnings was attributed to this blog. Surprising because Wassup Blog is normally a poor performer. Good to see that it’s finally starting to pull a bit of it’s weight.

Shocking October Stats Not So Shocking

As time flies by so quickly that it’s almost imperceivable to the average person, one comes upon that special time of the month where those of us post our stats for the month that’s left us in it’s wake.

That month just happens to be October and I really expected to have a pretty dismal earning report to post. This is because October turned out to be so busy in my personal/business life that I didn’t do all that much blogging, or even commenting.

And yet, once I checked all the stats, although it was less than the previous month, I was very pleasantly surprised.

TOTAL: $193.22

Just shy of $200 by a few bucks, but considering that my Adsense earnings was up I was pretty rapped with the month’s takings. I’ve decided to give Kontera the flick as it really isn’t performing all that well, and give it’s spot to Infolinks.

The biggest earner, once again was Commission Junction, and I reckon it has a lot to do with my ‘Pop Quiz’ that I have below my header, so even though I’ve had a couple of people tell me that I should change it, I reckon I’ll leave it be awhile longer.
