What Do Customers Want?

I’m currently working for a major retail company and they are very customer orientated. They know how important customers are and they do everything they can to give them a positive customer experience when they are in the store. To be able to do this though you really need to know what a customer wants to ensure they leave having a positive experience while in the store. What do customers want is a very important question and one that every business owner should ask themselves if they want to be successful.

I’ve been with these guys now for a couple of years now and as good as they are there is something that really baffles me and that is the importance the place on presentation. While I understand how important presentation is I personally believe having the stock on show for the customer to buy is so much more important. Unfortunately this is true for our competition as well which I find astounding.

Here is how it works. No matter what, I have to stop whatever I am doing to present my department before I clock off. This takes about an hour and in that time I could process a cage and a half of extra stock which could easily include a dozen or so out of stock lines. Keep in mind that the presentation for the most part is only superficial and it doesn’t take long before customers rip into it and things are looking a little worse for wear.

Knowing that one of the most common complaints we get from customers is not being able to find the item they’re looking for you have to wonder why they don’t do something about it. Actually, I know exactly why, its because of their wage budget. They just don’t want to spend the money to ensure everything gets done. A shame really because I feel their return from spending the extra money will more than pay for itself.

Zoho Free Invoicing

I am constantly amazed at the services that you can find online. After only just posting my quality header package the other day I came across a site called Zoho which is offering Free Invoice Software. The fact that they’re offering free invoicing isn’t at all apparent from their home page. What is apparent is they’re targeting the drudgery of handling a company’s invoicing by offering ‘hassle-free invoicing’ Having run a company some years back I fully understand what a pain it was having to invoice all my customers every single week.  :hairout_tb:

The Zoho free invoicing offer would have looked pretty good then, I can tell you. If you
click on the pricing link you”ll find that the free invoicing only applies to businesses with 5 customers and a single user base. Way, way too small for the business I was running. I looked at the next pricing bracket and found it would have fit me perfectly. It was only $15 per month for a customer base of 500.

Success How Many Factors Lead To Success

Success Secrets?

I read a post today from my mate Mitch titled The Secret To Success Is….. in which he posted a great video naming one specific thing that you need to be successful. While I agree with him that the reason he named can be very important I don’t believe it to be the sole factor. I don’t believe that any one factor can lead to success. Nope, in my humble opinion a person’s success is usually attributed to several factors. Over the weekend I went to the Australian Grand Prix and whilst I wanted Alonso to win in his Ferrari the person who actually achieved success was Kimi Raikkonen in his Lotus. While his successful win can be attributed to a team effort a lot of it due to the Kimi’s personal attributes. Had someone else been driving the car it could well have been a different result.
