Making Money With Amazon

The reason many people join Amazon as an affiliate is because of the range of products they have available for sale. My tool of choice as an Amazon affiliate would have to be WPZon Builder!

The post Why I Love WP Zon Builder gives you a sample of what this exceptional plugin is capable of. In short the main positives would have to be the ease of use and the ability to import the customer reviews into your post.

Perception Is Important To Your Blogging Career

I feel this to be a very accurate statement and it’s because of that I try to maintain an online presence where I am known for my honesty and integrity. Everything that you do online is being judged by others and may very well give them a false perception of who you really are. You want to make sure that perception of you is as accurate as possible because if it isn’t it could hurting your online career, whether it’s blogging or affiliate marketing.

The problem is magnified because of all the social sites the majority of us are members of. Let’s just take Twitter as an example. How many times have you chosen to follow someone and their very first tweet was one where they tried to sell you something? I know I get it quite a lot, and there are times when I’ve even stopped following them. They may have been a really down to earth person but that tweet led me to perceive that all they were interested in was trying to sell me something.

Let’s study the following picture for a minute.

These women all have one thing in common. Now I know when I first saw this photo I thought that every one of them was on the verge of having a mind blowing orgasm, and I was starting to get a little excited, when it turns out that the photo was taken just as they were about to sneeze.

The thing is that if I was to write something on this photo about what was turning all these women on, you can just imagine my embarrassment when someone pointed out what actually was going on.

The question is how to improve peoples perception of you.

  1. Don’t bullshit: This one is the most important rule that you should follow. You may get away with it for a little while but once you get caught out your credibility will be shot and it’s almost impossible to get it back, unless your Tiger Woods that is.
  2. Only promote things you believe in: Honestly, if you don’t believe in a product don’t go promoting it. By far the product I’ve had most success with is FlexSqueeze and that’s only because people can see how much I love it because of the emotion I display when I’m talking about it.
  3. Don’t say it’s so when you don’t know it truly is: Some people will read the hype on a particular affiliate and they then do a post telling everybody how fantastic it is, without even trying it! If that affiliate turns out to be shit then their perception of you and everything you say from now on turns to shit with it.
  4. Be COOL!: This applies to everything you do online, from interacting with those commenting on your blog to every other interaction you have with others online. If they’re abusive to you, show them your the better person by not retaliating. State your case in a diplomatic way and if they’re not willing to listen drop it! You win more points by letting it go than by losing your cool.
  5. Be Honest!: Different from #1 in that this is referring to those who have the tendency to steal content from others claiming it as their own. It’s only a matter of time before you get caught and when you do your name will be mud from now own. Better to do your own unique post linking to the one that supplied the idea for the post.
  6. Be Humble!: I have to admit I’m getting a little tired of those posts where bloggers claim to know everything about affiliate marketing and other stuff when it’s obvious they don’t . They may fool the newbies but everyone else can see them for what they really are, jerks!
  7. Accept Criticism!: Learn to listen to others when they criticize something about your post, your blog or about something you said. Don’t get on the defensive, it’s quite possible they know what they are talking about. Better to thank them for their opinion and to voice your reasons as to why you think they may be wrong without going on the attack.
  8. Your Input!:

I know that there are lot’s of other ways that we can give people a false perception of who we really are, but I want to leave that open so that you can voice your opinion.

Blog Stats For August Up For Display

As another month goes by it’s time to post the stats for the previous month. I must admit that for the first week or two Adsense wasn’t producing anything at all for the first week or two, but fortunately it kicked in later on in the month. As you can see it’s down from last month but, at least it managed to get over the $20 mark.

Overall my earnings was down, but that’s not at all surprising as I didn’t expect to earn another $100 from Commission Junction. Unfortunately those commission rates are few and far between.

Paid posts are also down, but I’ve decided to wind down the amount of paid posts I take on as I just don’t have the time to pump out as much as I would like to.

  • Adsense: $22.64
  • Voxsant: $0.21
  • Kontera: $0.16
  • Clix Galore: $0.35
  • Chitika: $1.48
  • Infolinks: $1.67
  • Advertisers: $10
  • Commission Junction: $0.00
  • E-Junkie: $72.15
  • Jumbo Affiliates: $11.37
  • RegNow $0.00
  • Paid Posts $62.50

TOTAL: $182.53

Overall I am satisfied with the results, especially as I haven’t gone out of my way to increase the blogging for money potential of my blogs.

July Stats Up Thanks To Commission Junction

As the months keep rolling on by it seems that at least one thing remains consistant on WassupBlog and that is the monthly statistics report. This month’s stats are a bit better than usual because Commission Junction netted me a nice little commission from one of the advertisers I’m affiliated to.

Please take note that I haven’t done anything different this month from any other month that would affect the stats at all. As you can see from the results the main difference is because of the performance of Commission Junction which is the second time they netted me $100 from one sale. Now if only the rest of the affiliates would pull their finger out I could be making some serious cash. :laugh_tb:

[eminimall]

  • Adsense: $29.80
  • Voxsant: $0.20
  • Kontera: $0.37
  • Clix Galore: $0.16
  • Chitika: $2.75
  • Infolinks: $1.80
  • Advertisers: $4
  • Commission Junction: $100.00
  • E-Junkie: $21
  • Jumbo Affiliates: $15.72
  • RegNow $9.13
  • Paid Posts $110.50

TOTAL: $295.43

That’s not too shabby at all I reckon. With a bit of luck next month might be a little better if my latest blog Top Sexual Aids takes off, but then again it may take more than a month before it actually starts to earn some money

It’s not that I usually spend a lot of time checking my stats, but I figured that just for the hell of it I would take a look at a couple of my more active affiliates to see how they were tracking. I chose Commission Junction and ClixGalore and what I found wasn’t really all that surprising. So far this month Commission Junction reported 27,280 impressions which resulted in 55 clicks and ClixGalore reported 10,456 which resulted in 172 clicks.

It wasn’t the fact that ClixGalore resulted in more clicks per impression that intrigued me as much as not one of those clicks resulted in a sale. While I don’t spend a whole lot of time marketing my affiliates I know that there are a lot of bloggers out there that do and I was wondering what their conversion rates were. I figured that I could expect at least a 10% conversion rate which should have resulted in at least 22 sales or leads but to come up with an empty slate lead me to wondering why.

You would think that a person would only click on a link that was of some interest to them and that by doing so the person that sent them there virtually had their foot in the door. So, all the hard work has been done to lead the prospective buyer to a product and yet no sale is made. There seems to be one of three reasons for the lack of a sale.

  1. He hasn’t quite made up his mind to a purchase so he may actually do so at a later date.
  2. He was never really interested and only clicked out of curiosity.
  3. The landing page was not good enough to convert to a sale.

I know when I choose an affiliate I usually pick one that I find interesting or one that I believe would be of interest to others. I usually don’t actively promote them unless, like the FlexSqueeze Theme, it’s one that I truly believe in. The thing is, should we, as part of our marketing regime, also be looking at the landing page of the affiliate? After all, what is the point of doing all that work if it’s going to be wasted because the landing page is of such poor quality that no-one in their right mind would buy from it? I suppose it’s akin to a shopper that walks into a dark, dingy dirty shop and then turns right around and walks out.

Anyway, I was wondering what you guys think. Do you ever look at the landing page to see if it’s worth the effort of all that hard work?

The Real Dos And Don’t Of Affiliate Marketing

If you want to find out all about affiliate marketing there is no better place than the net. The only problem is how to sift through all the garbage in order to find the hidden gem that will lead you to your millions. I can tell you one thing, it’s not an easy task and if you come across any site that tells you it is and promises to show you how to make it big time in affiliate marketing, give it a wide berth because it’s total BS.

That is your first lesson, nothing in life is easy when it comes to making money and that includes affiliate marketing so DON’T get sucked in.

You will get as much out of Affiliate marketing as you put into it so the more effort on your part the better the results.

Do not make the mistake of signing up for every single affiliate you come across as this will only diminish the amount of effort that you can focus on each individually.

Pick ones that you are passionate about as you will find those easier to promote.

Check the landing pages of your affiliate links because if they don’t ‘grab’ your attention how do you expect them to encourage those you send there to actually make a purchase or to sign up to whatever they are offering. After all, you can do all the hard work to get people to your site and click on a link but if the landing page absolutely sucks you have just wasted all that effort. So, before you begin promoting any affiliate check to see exactly where you are sending your prospective customers.

Don’t always join the biggest affiliates thinking they will lead to greater profits. Sometimes the smaller affiliates provide better customer service with a higher level of affiliate paraphernalia.

Don’t bullshit your prospective customers. Be honest with them and you will have a greater chance of converting their visit to a prospective click.

Truth be told, I can by no means be called an affiliate marketer. I am a simple Aussie blogger who’s main aim is to blog for fame and fortune. However, I have in my travels stumbled upon a blog that does seem to have a handle on affiliate marketing and this particular post, JR’s Internet Marketing Strategies, is a good place for those who want to get started in this facet of internet marketing.
