Skysa Could be The Coolest Add On For Any Blog

I know how observant all of you are and so I reckon you’ve all noticed that cool looking bar at the bottom of my blog and have probably been wondering what it was all about. Well I’m here to put your mind at ease by telling you a little about my latest addition to WassupBlog, my Skysa App Bar!

The first thing you should know is that it’s free. The next thing is that it’s really easy to install, just one line of code, and from what I can see it doesn’t seem to slow the page load at all, and that is very important.

Once installed on your blog you can change the settings from the main website, adding Apps as you see fit, and any changes you make will automatically show on your Skysa Bar.  I’ve gone for the chat room, sorry members only; a simple text ticker; a bar that will translate the blog into other languages, although this tends to take awhile; a comment app that funny enough allows people to leave comments; an announcement app that allows you to make announcements to your readers; my twitter link and a few apps that allow users to share content using popular social sites such as Twitter, Digg and the like. These are only a few of the many apps available and apparently there are a lot more to come.

Once you’ve installed the app I would suggest you promote it because as an affiliate you get paid a dollar for every person who installs it, and 25 cents for everyone that signs up under them. Now that’s not a bad deal at all, and it all get’s paid into your PayPal account.

As I’m writing this I’ve noticed the language app doesn’t seem to be doing anything so I left a post on their forum and I reckon it will be interesting to see how long before they come to my aid.

Language app aside I am pretty impressed with it and I must thank John of PotPolitics fame for bringing it to my attention.

  1. Twitter:
I had been wondering where that sucker came from. I’m gonna let you have that one, but I did find out how to shut it down. lol
    .-= Mitch´s last blog ..Pink – Three Videos =-.

    1. Yep, like all good apps people should be able to turn them off if they don’t like them. I do believe it’s your move too Mitch.

      1. Definitely like being able to hide the thing! That’s a nice little feature that some tools lack.
.-= Kimberly Castleberry@wordpress help´s last blog ..Hubze Cards: Your New Internet Business Card =-.

        1. I’m always aiming to please Kimberly :innocent1_tb:

  2. Yes, I was actually wondering what that thing was. For the translation button, I suppose one can choose the target languages? I hope that’s the case because I didn’t see one of the top languages that I would pick- Spanish.
.-= Chuck Edwards@Weight Loss Tips´s last blog ..Acupuncture For Weight Loss =-.

    1. Sure can Chuck, and I can sure add Spanish to that list.

Just as a matter of interest, why would Spanish be at the top of your list?

      1. That’s good to know-thanks. I would place Spanish at the top of the list simply because it’s the third or fourth most spoken language in the world with anywhere from 300 to 500 million speakers.
.-= Chuck Edwards@Weight Loss Tips´s last blog ..Acupuncture For Weight Loss =-.

        1. See, even at my age I’m always learning something new. Thanks for the update Chuck

  3. I think it is actually quite a handy little tool, but I am not a fan of the little popup attached to it. Would be a much better app without that.
.-= Tom@geoarbitrage´s last blog ..What Is Geoarbitrage? =-.

    1. What popup is that Tom, I don’t see any? Is it the one when you hover the mouse over a selection?

      1. Maybe it is something that only shows the first time someone visits after the bar has been installed cause it didn’t happen this time.

It was a small popup that said something about the skysa toolbar.
.-= Tom@geoarbitrage´s last blog ..What Is Geoarbitrage? =-.

      2. When you fist hit the blog as a visitor.

It’s the “announcements” on the bar…you can fill it with anything and have it pop up.
.-= Dennis Edell @ Direct Sales Marketing´s last blog ..Comment Contest: 5 Days Left! =-.

        1. Well that’s not that bad, it probably only pops up when there’s a new announcement.

          1. I believe so; it hasn’t when I hit the blog this time.
.-= Dennis Edell @ Direct Sales Marketing´s last blog ..Comment Contest: 5 Days Left! =-.

  4. All f a sudden I am see it on other blogs. Frankly it’s a little annoying. Next thing you’ll be adding Disqus :laugh_tb:

If it is free, how can they pay you an affiliate fee?
.-= Ned Carey´s last blog ..Charles County Md Tax Sale 2010 =-.

    1. How is it annoying Ned, it’s sitting there at the bottom quietly out of the way? :tongue_rolleye_ee: Anyway, if it bothers you simple turn it off by clicking on the tab on the far right.

And there is no way I’m ever installing Disqus. :guns_tb: :laugh_tb:

As to earning money John has just confirmed that he got paid for me signing up. Although it’s free there is a paid version and I reckon a buck a pop is pretty cheap advertising.

        1. Just click on any of the above Skysa links Ned, or better still, just to make it easier, click on this one.

  5. This is the first time I’ve seen this bottom bar. I like the scrolling message feature. I don’t mind these things unless they slow things down for people.
.-= Sara@Snuggie Pattern´s last blog ..Snuggie Pattern for Adults – SHOCKING Photos =-.

    1. Well Sara, so far so good, things appear to load up normally. BTW, I like that feature as well.

  6. As I commented on Johns, it simply seems to be Wibya with a $1 kick-back…unoriginal, but worth a look.
.-= Dennis Edell @ Direct Sales Marketing´s last blog ..Comment Contest: 5 Days Left! =-.

    1. Never heard of Wibya, but if I had to choose between the two I’d pick the one with the $1 kickback.

      1. Absolutely. :-)
.-= Dennis Edell @ Direct Sales Marketing´s last blog ..Comment Contest: 5 Days Left! =-.

    1. haha! It even translated my name into Arabic
.-= Steve Youngs´s last blog ..But It Was Just One Comment =-.

      1. That’s pretty cool Steve, did it take long to translate the page?

        1. No, not at all. Just a few seconds longer than the page normally takes to load for me.

Interestingly, there’s no “English” in the translate menu. But refreshing the page brings you back to the default language.
.-= Steve Youngs´s last blog ..But It Was Just One Comment =-.

          1. I didn’t think to put that in as the blog was already in English. :doh_tb:

  7. This is a great review of Skysa. I am new to it but it seems really useful.
.-= Julius´s last blog ..Blogging Against Disablism Day 2010 =-.

    1. Thanks Julius, so far I think it’s a great add on to the blog.

  8. I saw this on John’s site too. However, I did not see the “affiliate” part when I signed up or added the bar….which is still in progress.

Secondly, re: today’s poll….why would a Disqus blog app discourage or stop someone from commenting?

I’ll revisit the Skysa page to see what I missed, I don’t want to lose any bucks! :rasberry_ee:

    Thanks and good luck!
.-= Kissie´s last blog ..In Record Time =-.

    1. It’s in the footer Kissie, and you have to sign up for it.

As to Disqus, it’s because it put’s another step in the way of commentators and what with everyone’s busy schedule there are quite a few not willing to take it.

  9. Interesting, although I’m going to wait and see quite a little more from your experience and see how it goes:) Is this similar to the Wibiya toolbar?

And BTW, I did not pay too much attention but when first landing on your page, there was a pop up that mentioned something about the Skysa. Sorry I do not remember what it said but it was there. It is not something you hover on. It is similar to those sites that pops up something in the middle of the screen telling you to sign up for a free ebook or the likes. I hope you know about this.
.-= DiTesco´s last blog ..Google Releases Best SEO Tips Ever =-.

    1. According to Dennis it’s the announcement bar and so should only pop up when there’s a new announcement. I have mine advertising the Bar as I get a back for everyone that installs it.

  10. Hi Sire, I’m on vacation but I just had to drop by to wish you a Happy Anzac Day! I’ll catch up whehn I return:)
    .-= louise´s last blog ..April Food Celebrations 25th-May 1st =-.

    1. Thanks Loise, say, how did you know about Anzac Day?

      1. You see, Sire, I have this blog that is unbiased when it comes to celebrations which involve food. Now, would you mind sending me a few of those fabulous Anzac Biscuits of yours:)

        1. I would Louise but I ate them all. :devil_tb: :tongue_laugh_ee:

  11. Honestly i didn’t notice the bar until now, but now that i do, i don’t think it’s a bad idea, and i must say the $1 makes it a little more attractive. I’ll definitely check it out

    1. Cool, and after checking the affiliate report I can say with great satisfaction that people are signing up under me and the dollars are adding up. :thumbup_tb:

      1. That’s cool Sire, I signed up yesterday from your link too and i’m promoting it so let’s hope i’ll add more dollar to it. You deserve all the cash that you get.

Just to quickly mention that i’m really finding your site difficult to load now. Please check it out, maybe too many images and it seems there’s pop up at the header

        1. It could be just a temporary thing Karo because apart from the bar I haven’t added anything new.

  12. Hey Sire ! This is a great review of Skysa.!! Is it same tool like wibiya? :D
looking forward to hear more about skysa.. :0

    Cheers
    Dev

  13. I gotta say, I still like the Wibiya toolbar better. They have more applications there you can add and their design is fun.

    1. That’s probably true for now, but them Skysa looks relatively new and they offer a good affiliate program where you can make money. Does Wibiya offer you that?

  14. I’m not a super big fan of it now, but I’ve been seeing it on more and more blogs so I’m pretty sure the majority will have it soon.

    1. Why not Aaron, it’s not like it’s in the way or anything?

  15. Good for you. I switched from the Wibiya Tool Bar to Skysa the other day on my Blogger account and I’m loving it. I’ll need to blog about it soon too.
.-= Ileane | The Podcast Blog´s last blog ..HootSuite Tutorial Video =-.

    1. What I like about it is that it sits on the bottom out of the way, unlike some that are in your face.

  16. Hi Sire :) :)
I really like this application , but as per my blog , I am also concentrating on the loading speed of the blog, so I can’t use it ;).
And it’s overlapped by the Amazon widget when I scroll down the page through that widget. Just have a look , what’s going on ?? :) :)

    1. Yeah, I noticed that with the amazon widget, I suppose it’s because the two scripts are incompatible. Still it’s not that bad, at least it doesn’t cover any of my content and just sits there on the bottom right out of the way.

I also don’t think it’s slowing the loading of the blog at all so I’m completely happy with it.

  17. I wondered about it when I arrived at your blog and got a popup message about it. Hopefully it remembers I’ve been here and doesn’t pop up every time.

Is the affiliate incentive why you chose it over other similar bars?
.-= Kimberly Castleberry@wordpress help´s last blog ..Hubze Cards: Your New Internet Business Card =-.

    1. Nope, it’s actually the first time I came across one of these bars, but the affiliate part did appeal to me.

As to it popping up it won’t do that again unless I put up a new announcement and I won’t be doing that anytime soon.

  18. I don’t see how this toolbar is going to help me @ all as most of my readers are yet to even get used to retweeting ad stumbling with the simple links on my blog not to talk of imposing a toolbar that aids that on them.
.-= Udegbunam Chukwudi´s last blog ..StrictlyOnlineBiz’s Top Blog Posts Of The Week 10 =-.

    1. And yet some people have used it to either Digg or Tweet some of my posts. In a way it saves them from scrolling back up to click the Tweet button so it is a time save for them. It also allows them to leave comments which may be off topic so it’s another way to communicate with me.

One other thing, I’ve tried to leave some comments on your blog and every time I get a 403 error message.

      1. Thanks for the alert. Justin Germino of dragonblogger warned me bout this yesterday and I actually witnessed the error. After a while comments started going through again and now the error is back. All this started after the last upgrade of Secure WordPress plug-in.

I’ve deactivated the plug-in and comments are going through at my end now. Could you PLEASE try again and let me know if you get the same error?

        Thanks a million
.-= Udegbunam Chukwudi´s last blog ..StrictlyOnlineBiz’s Top Blog Posts Of The Week 10 =-.

        1. Yep, it worked fine that time.
