Well, it seems that after such a long time I have finally been sucked into doing another meme. Memes are something I normally steer away from, but unfortunately for me I can’t say no to a pretty woman, so I couldn’t refuse when Kristi of Kikolani decided to tag me. As with most memes there are a few rules you have to abide by and this one is no exception, so without further ado, the rules to this meme:
- Link to your original tagger(s) and list these rules in your post.
- Share seven facts about yourself in the post.
- Tag seven people at the end of your post by leaving their names and the links to their blogs.
- Let them know they’ve been tagged.
Now comes the hard part, finding 7 things that you don’t know about me. Now let me see, you all know I’m an Aussie so that doesn’t count, and it’s proabably also apparent that I am an male……gee, what new stuff about me can I reveal that you don’t already know.
- I was three months away from becoming a fully qualified teacher before I chucked it in and decided to work for myself instead.
- The police came to my store and took away a gun that I used to play jokes on my customers. Gee, sounds like I may have a topic for another post.
- I make my own wine and sauce.
- My fist computer was a Commodore Vic20, yep, I am that old.
- I love Science Fiction and Fantasy books, my favorite author being Robert Heinlein
- I have the bad habit of cracking my knuckles, sometimes even while I am asleep.
- I don’t wear pajamas while I am asleep.
OK, now what other saps bloggers can I tag to take part in this screwy fun meme.
The first has to be Mitch of I’m Just Sharing, Giovanna of Imperfect Action, Kim of (anti) Social Development, April of Cranial Soup, Evita of Evolving Wellness, Brian of That’s Right I Said It, and he usually has, and finally and finally Brandon of The Almost Millionaire.
As an added benefit to those of you who I have tagged, you will be happy to know that I have subscribed to all your feeds, so now it’s over to you to tag another 7 suckers willing participants. ![]()

Hi Sire – Thanks for including me. I participated in a 7 things meme in December and I think it’s much too soon to reveal anymore info about myself ;-)
Kim Woodbridge´s Last blog post..12 WordPress Food Themes
Hey no worries Kim, I reckon 14 things about anyone would probably be 7 too many anyway.
Oddly enough, 6 would have been plenty from you.
Dennis Edell´s Last blog post..798 Views & 5 Comments – Are You Doing All You Can To Engage Them?
Whatsa matter Dennis, which one doncha like?

Hmm which one was it now
oh right now I remember – I’m thinkin’ knowing what you do or DON’T wear to slumber is really not a concern to most….perhaps even scary for some.
Dennis Edell´s Last blog post..798 Views & 5 Comments – Are You Doing All You Can To Engage Them?
I didn’t realize it had to be a ‘concern’ as such, only that it had to be something they didn’t necessarily know about me and that sure fit the bill.
Nit-picker, ya know what I meant. LOL
Dennis Edell´s Last blog post..Do You Charge For Blog Reviews?
Oh, I know, but where is the fun if I refrain from a bit of friendly banter.
Hi Sire, I’m not sure how it works but Kristi picked me on the same post that she picked you. I think I can just link to both of you. I sure ain’t doing two of them. On behalf of the entire internet, (ya, I have that kind of authority) I would like to thank you for not sharing all the details of number seven lol
Brian D. Hawkins´s Last blog post..Will Amazon.com Punish You Because Of Your Customers?
Now that you mention it Brian, I think I did see your name there but for some reason it didn’t register until just now. No worries mate, I reckon the one post with the two links would be a first and so it is befitting that you be the one to say it.
Well i wonder what kind of jokes did you use to play on your customers and what kind of store was that? :S It seems like you had a lot to share ;)
stratosg´s Last blog post..Easily create paragraph sidenotes
Sounds like I may have a couple of posts up my sleeve then, doesn’t it stratos?
i will hold you on that… my imagination about your jokes is coming up with many things…
stratosg´s Last blog post..Easily create paragraph sidenotes
Over the years I reckon quite a lot of stuff did happen, some were fun, some not so fun. Who knows, perhaps I will share some of it with you guys.
I’m a big fan of Science Fiction and fantasy books but have never heard of Robert Heinlein before so a new author for me to look into. How does the wine you make turn and is it red or white? I have only tried wine making once from a kit, which ended up costing more than to buy the wine in the first place, it also ended up going down the sink.
We, my friends and I, usually make red wine and normally it turns out well although it does have more alcohol than the stuff you buy in the shops. I remember one of my son’s teachers in his wine course, after tasting it, saying he could run his lawnmower on it.
bet he probably could. Does it give less of a headaches the day after because of lack of chemicals or does the extra alcohol balance out the effect.
I’ve never had a headache from it yet, but then I don’t drink to excess. I recall one occasion when my neighbor drank so much he fell off the chair and last I heard he still raves about what a good brew it was.
Thanks for participating, and sharing those interesting facts. I too would like to know what kind of shenanigans you pulled on your customers with a fake gun. I can picture “put down the chips, or the stuffed koala gets it” or something to that effect. :)
~ Kristi
Kikolani´s Last blog post..7 Things for New & Dedicated Readers
Though that wasn’t quite it Kristi you’re not far off the mark.
Oddly enough, my first computer was also a Vic-20. Which shows my age too!
ray´s Last blog post..Fixing Your RSS Feed Problems in WordPress
LOL, remember the tape drive you had to use to load the programs? The 64 was better, and then I migrated to the Amiga which I still say was a great machine, but now I use the humble PC.
Hi Sire
I crack my knuckles too, not in my sleep…I don’t think. And I am not going to ask you what you wear to sleep :-)
Thanks for thinking of me. I will put on my thinking cap and will let you know when I got it.
Giovanna Garcia´s Last blog post..You are building your life.
Well Giovanna, let’s just say that I wear very little
Sure, I’d been dodging this from everyone else, but you had to be the one to get me. That’s what I get for beating you in chess, eh? Well, it’ll be some days, and I had thought about not doing it and acting like I’d miss this, but since I’ve seen it, okay, I guess I’ll do something; sniff!
Mitch´s Last blog post..SEO Is Easier With Websites Than Blogs
Serves you right Mitch for beating me four times in a row. I reckon I’m the one that should be banging my head against the wall.
Well, that’s okay for you; it’ll post on Sunday.
Mitch´s Last blog post..Spock
Hey Sire!
Wow thanks so much for the tag! Hmmm, on Evolving Wellness…you know what that means, I might have to throw in a “health” theme to this then ;)
So as for your number one, what a coincidence, I am now a teacher and giving it all up in June to be free and work as a writer, educator, speaker and consultant in whatever way my fancy takes me in…
As for number 7, good one, I guess that leaves little to the immagination ;)
And one more thing, I would say please try not to crack your knuckles, for the sake of your joints, bones, etc…
Ok, I will try to get something on this meme out in a few days!
Evita´s Last blog post..The New Shopper’s Guide To Pesticides Is Here!
I reckon a health theme would go down a treat, and as for cracking my knuckles, I used to worry about it because of the old wives tale that it would lead to arthritis, but then I saw Dr. Oz on the Oprah show saying that was a lot of BS.
Thank you so much for tagging me, Sire. I really appreciate it (NOT).
It’s not that I would have trouble thinking of 7 more things to tell people about myself, because that would be the easy part.
My problem is thinking up 7 more people to tag that have blogs. Most of the bloggers I know do not engage in such silliness and their blogs are way too serious and “important” for them to consider having such fun. (party poopers!)
So it might take me awhile to select my victims. :-P
app103´s Last blog post..What do you love?
Hey, no worries, there is plenty of time, I reckon I’ve got at least a couple of years in me yet. Perhaps you need to broaden your horizons a little to include some ‘fun’ bloggers.
I am just not sure what to write in here. My mind is just overwhelmed.
A naked, knuckle cracken, gun slinger….I might need some of your homemade wine to blackout that image that is now burned into my brain.
Thanks for sharing – I think.
Sheryl Loch´s Last blog post..Jimmy Fallon Twitter Experiment
Now, if only you could transfer that image to your computer so that you could post about it, I would be one happy naked, knuckle cracking, gun totin, wine drinkin blogger.

It is a really good thing I like to read your blog so much because white on black text is not easy for me to read. I wonder if figuring out how to get Ubuntu to use the correct driver for my monitor would clear it up? No time for that now (but if anyone knows how I’d love to hear from you).
Looks like your meme is going to take off. I just shared it at Twitter to see if I can send you all some new visitors. I have an excellent idea that will benefit everyone who participates. It is a variation of what Barbara did at Blogging without a Blog. More on that as soon as I can get it all set up.
InternetStrategist´s Last blog post..REVIEW: Mastering Google Analytics – Comments and Contents of a FREE eCourse
Really, because I have no problem at all with it? Is it just my blog or all blogs that have white on a black background?
White on black is always tougher for me to read and I believe that may be true for other people. Could be the font too. The white text is just fuzzier than normal.
The other drawback to using white on black for Web sites is they are more challenging to print out if someone wants to do that.
InternetStrategist´s Last blog post..Blog Traffic Up 54.87% in the Last 30 Days: Our Proven Traffic Improvement Strategy
On another one of my blogs, I have something that you might like, that I call “The Snailifier”, which is a bookmarklet that takes you to the Google Mobile version of any page.
Text is black on white. No colored backgrounds, no scripts, and in a lot of cases very little to no ads. All links clicked lead to mobile versions of those pages, too.
I placed it there originally for people with old slow computers that can’t handle over-scripted pages, and people on dialup that want something that will load much faster.
The only drawbacks are that forms and logins don’t work, and any functionality that relies on javascript or communicating back with the original server of the page, will be broken. That means it won’t work with sites like MySpace, Twitter, Digg, etc, and you can’t comment on blog posts without returning to the original page.
Look near the top of the sidebar, where it says “Snailify URL”: http://snailware.blogspot.com
app103´s Last blog post..7 Reasons Not to Direct Link to a Developer’s Download Files
I advertised on Craigslist to see if I could get more or faster PCs. If that works I’ll look at your site on the new one instead of this one. :-)
InternetStrategist´s Last blog post..Making Money with Your Blog – Part 2 – Evaluating Affiliate Programs
Either that or I do the gentlemanly thing and change the theme. We shall see which one happens first.
Hey is, looks like I’m a gentleman. I hope the new theme is easier on the eyes.
Your not old if your first computer was a Commodore because that would make me old also!
Michael´s Last blog post..Top “Who You Should Follow On Twitter” Lists
Well, I am 50 Michael but the wife says I act like a two year old, so where do you reckon that puts me?
Sire,
Technical question, how did you leave that “tagged” link in your comment? I can’t seem to figure out how to leave a hyperlink as I’m letting folks know that I tagged them?
The Almost Millionaire´s Last blog post..What is a meme?
It was just the normal html code that I use when I want to leave a link. The same code you use when leaving a link within a post.
If I may, Brandon, Sire actually didn’t quite do it correctly, in that, if I hadn’t learned about the post, I’d have never known about it unless I’d remembered to look at my “incoming links” in my dashboard, which I rarely do, and most people probably don’t do. On mine, which will come out on Sunday, I put a link to a post, which will show up on each person’s blog as a trackback, and I think they’ll have a better shot of noticing that.
Mitch´s Last blog post..Is The Dream A Fraud?
Actually Mitch, I went to everyone’s blog and left a comment tagging them individually. I didn’t in your case as I knew you would inadvertently read the post anyway, and you see, I was right.
Ah, so that’s what it was. Well, since I pre-created mine, I’ll just have to hope the trackback works for me.

Hi Sire
I finished :-) my meme and I tag 7 more innocent by standard :-)
Stop by my place to check it out.
Giovanna Garcia
Imperfect Action is better than No Action

You did a damn good job Giovanna, and it just goes to show that I made the right choice when selecting you.

Homemade wine and sauce? Nice. My family does the same here in the States. It’s the one thing that takes the longest to leave the culture apparently.
Stranger In A Strange Land is a classic. I grok.
Gennaro´s Last blog post..9 Top Cities, 9 Top Irish Pubs
I hope you are planning on keeping up the tradition mate. It sure is a good excuse to get together.
“I was three months away from becoming a fully qualified teacher before I chucked it in and decided to work for myself instead.”
That’s pretty intense. What made you switch so close to the end?
Kevon Edmonds´s Last blog post..Chasing the Dream: The Case Story

Ah the Vic 20 – you must be about the same age as me.
Did you have the “rat race” game – Just like pacman, but rats chasing chees, being chased by cats.
Damn I loved that game! :-)
Adam, I’m 50 years old and yes that game definitely rings a bell.
Coming rather late to this post, I found it rather difficult to follow all the nested comments. Just an observation.
Probably another of those “senior” moments ;)
Kevin
Kevin Phoenix´s Last blog post..Personal Financial Rescue Plan
Hey Kevin, don’t worry mate you will get used to it. I find it easier to follow a particular thread rather than the normal ‘@’ which usually resulted me in scrolling up and down trying to find the original comment.
Actually Sire, with your new theme, is should be easier to follow because each thread and reply has different colors, whereas before everything always remained black.
Mitch´s Last blog post..Is Alexa Relevant Again?
I know and I can change the color with a click of a mouse. Just as an example I noticed that I couldn’t see the links in the comments, so I went into the theme’s admin, clicked on the comment section then clicked in link color and changed it to blue. How easy is that? Man I love this theme.
And there you go; should make things easy for everyone, and who knows, maybe I won’t get taken to odd places anymore, nor see that funny little face anymore either. 8-)
Mitch´s Last blog post..Twitter Mosaic
Let’s hope not. As for that funny face, I’m sure I saw it around somewhere.
@#7: me neither! I love sleeping naked. No matter where I sleep if I need to wear something I feel constricted and can’t fall asleep. I love feeling the fresh breeze through the whole night.
Yep, I know that feeling.
