Not everyone is in the same league
Yet I would share with all who’s here

Who’s author is really quite bonnie

Many wish that they could host

Extreme John, now he’s the man
He blogs like no-one else can
If someone said there’s a better limo ride
I’m here to tell you they damn well lied

Doug’s all about making money online
The tips he offers make his blog shine
Not all about money; there are tips as well
Many a reader on more comments did dwell

As a blogger I tend to spend more time commenting on other peoples blogs than I do writing posts on my own blogs. Knowing this to be the case I was quite surprised when I received the following comment from Brian of BlogEngage fame;

You’ve only voted for 23 articles that weren’t yours! If you write an article please include in it why your not so social. I really expected more from you sire but nothing came from it. Every time I see you you’re always saying I’ll get involved soon etc… but here we are the same place we left off.

Karma Score of 6.00 is really poor for a being a members so long.

You can see his comment and my reply on Doug’s How To Get More Comments post. Of course Brian’s comment is 100% accurate, except perhaps that statement about saying I’ll always get involved soon but never do, as I’m pretty sure I’ve only said that once in relation to BlogEngage, but then I could be wrong.

The truth is that in real life I don’t actually like socializing but I do put myself out there, more for my family than anything else. The same can also be said about my Internet life. I am a member of Facebook, Digg, StumbleUpon, Friendfeed, Twitter and some others, I think you get the drift. Even though I am a member of those sites I am not overly active in any of them, even though I keep reading that they are all essential in blog promotion.

The one place where I do love to mix is as a commentator on other blogs. Commenting is possibly the one avenue where I feel comfortable when socializing, and I don’t see myself changing that anytime soon.

So, why am I such an anti-social person? I don’t really know, I’ve always been this way and I don’t care enough to blow a wad of money on a shrink to have him, or her, give me their educated guess as to the fact.

So, Brian, if I have a karma of 6 on BlogEngage consider yourself lucky my friend because that is more likely than not higher than any other site including my real life.

Article Directories A Great SEO Tool For Blog Promotion

There wouldn’t be too many bloggers writing today who didn’t have a rudimentary idea of how to promote their blog on the web. These ideas all fit into a nice little package called SEO, or Search Engine Optimization. Some of these ideas bloggers use may include;

Commenting on other blogs, especially do-follow blogs
Submitting the blog to RSS, blog and other directories
Signature links in emails
Being generous with your link luv
Using Social Media such as Twitter, Digg, StumbleUpon etc.
Submitting Free articles
Being an active member in Forums using the blog link as a signature
Using the right keyword and phrases
Making sure that a google sitemap is active ensuring the blog is fully indexed
Supplying good content, because all of the above is useless if a blog’s content is not good enough to capture the readers interest so that they come back for more.

There are many other ways but I’ve only mentioned some of the free methods available to bloggers for the promotion of their blogs.

I would like to talk a little bit more about submitting your blog to article directories. This is pretty well an untapped resource for many bloggers. These directories are not just a resource where you can Find Free content, as submitting your own articles, complete with a link to your blog, is a great way of blog promotion, especially if you’re supplying great content. Apart from the SEO advantages, people reading the articles are very likely to visit your blog just to see what other great content you have available.

In May of this year I did a post called Wassup Blogs You Beaut Huge Link Love Fest and amongst all the links I shared was a very prominent blogger who goes by the name of Nicolas Prudhon. July Stats Up Thanks To Commission Junction

As the months keep rolling on by it seems that at least one thing remains consistant on WassupBlog and that is the monthly statistics report. This month’s stats are a bit better than usual because Commission Junction netted me a nice little commission from one of the advertisers I’m affiliated to.

Please take note that I haven’t done anything different this month from any other month that would affect the stats at all. As you can see from the results the main difference is because of the performance of Commission Junction which is the second time they netted me $100 from one sale. Now if only the rest of the affiliates would pull their finger out I could be making some serious cash.
