Yep, it’s probably been nearly two years now and I’ve only just completed my first ever Squidoo Lens! If you haven’t seen it yet, perhaps you could swing on by and rate it for me. If you have a lens and would like me to reciprocate just leave a comment.
Anyway, why did I decide to finally finish the almost forgotten lens? It had a lot to do with what I was talking about in my Necessity The Mother Of Invention And How It Relates To Blogs post where I talk about how you find ways of doing something when there is a need to get something done. Those who know me know that I don’t do all that much to market this blog other than to comment on other blogs. That doesn’t mean that I don’t know how to market it, just that I’ve never had the need or desire to do it.
So, what’s changed? It’s all because of the post Quick Update On People Search Money Opportunity, an update on the original How The People Search Craze Could Put Money In Your Pocket post that describes a way of monetizing the a particular facet of the web. The need for knowledge, in particular knowing where a particular person can be found. Apparently 30% of all searches on Google and Yahoo are people search related and that’s a huge market.
I decided to try and get a portion of that market, but to do that I need to expand my marketing skills. I need people to find my site before anyone else’s and I decided that Squidoo was going to be a small part of that plan. The problem was which of the many available landing pages do I direct the traffic to, seeing as they’re all good and each one would possible target a different market.
My solution was to design my own squeeze page landing page, one that would incorporate most of the better links. Thanks to FlexSqueeze and it’s squeeze page facility I now have my own specially designed landing page. Although I will be using this page on the majority of my blogs I will only be using the one on this site as the targeted page.
I’m not sure how many of you have heard of or use Squidoo, but honestly if you haven’t got your own lens yet you could be missing out. If you check out my Squidoo Lens you will notice that I have links linking to several of my posts. If you construct it in such a way it would be a great way to market your blog. Not only will it give your posts extra link juice, there’s also the extra traffic that it will bring.

not sure I know why, but I set up my squidoo lens finally after reading your post. only stuck my feed on there for now, will explore more later to see how it can best benefit me by using it. it gets hard to keep up with all the different outlets and I have been caught up in the past in trying to be on too many of them so I am trying to limit myself…

I made a couple of lens trying to promote a niche site that did terrible but never really tried a real lens for a main site. I should add that to my list, I believe it could help.

Sire, although this is my first post here, I hope it will not be my last. I am the bearer of bad news.
Squidoo’s TOS forbids MMO type lenses. Anything that has make money, make money online or any affiliate type lens. They have gone as far as blocking weight loss lens because so many of these lens were pushing affiliate products.
Not sure how long you will be able to keep this lens before they lock it up and throw away the key.
I have had over 40 lens locked and deleted due to the fact that they were MMO lens.
I would have left a comment on your lens but you do not have a guest book up to leave a comment.

Hi Denise. They’ve obviously changed it after I joined nearly two years ago. Just my luck. Thanks for the heads up though, as it gave me time to edit the lens so that it doesn’t look like a sales page, but still has the link in place. At least that way I’ll still get the link juice.

What I will do though is create more lenses.
Lately I use squildoo lens for make linkwheel for one the SEO purpose of my client. Squidoo is really one nice web2.0 site which provide dofollow link.
Should throw a couple good links to the Squidoo page for the type of search traffic you are looking for. Squidoo has so much natural authority given how big it is and can rank every easily for terms because of it. Welcome to the Squidoo world.

OK Josh, that link didn’t go anywhere, and I’ve already got several links from the Squidoo page pointing to different posts on this blog. Is that what you meant?
I’ve visited the lens, and agree with the others that it is a nice looking.
I also read the money scams article with some interest.
Frankly, the only online venture that I know for certain will make a person a living is the one that my sister is involved with. She is an online recruiter for Linda Christas College. They provided her with training and support materials free of charge and she is making a nice bit of money every month. Enough to support her entire family. He husband can’t get over it as he says with a grin on his face. There are other recruiting openings also at the College if anyone of your acquaintance is interested. So, maybe that’s a place to look or review or whatever approach you might take.
Just a suggestion. I’d like to hear your opinion.
In the meantime, the webmaster at ToysPeriod tells me you left a comment over there. I am going to have to go read it. It is my favorite hobby shop, and I think I mentioned it here the last time I visited.

OK, first of Beth, I deleted one of your other comments because you placed a link in it pointing to a site that is completely unrelated to the post. The site is obviously your and you were milking the comment for some juice. That could be considered by some as spam and is totally unnecessary considering I’ve allowed you to use keywords in the url.
I’m afraid I don’t have an opinion regarding Linda Christas College as I’m not familiar with it, but if it’s working for your sister I reckon it’s a good thing.

Making money with niche sites is easy: content + backlinks + more backlinks + a lot more backlinks = lots and lots of cash. Just do the same thing over and over again and sit back and relax.

Making money can be a lot of things Rose but I reckon most people would agree it’s not all that easy.
Well, based on what Denise just said in her comment, your lens might not be sticking around too long, and that’s too bad because you actually have a “real” picture on there. I hope the rest of you get there to see it before it’s possibly gone.

No worries Mitch, I know how it is. Thanks to Denise I’ve edited the lens and I reckon it may just pass, especially considering there are so many other blatant MMO lenses out there.
I recall that I’ve also made a lens sometime ago (I think way before I put up my own personal blog) but has left no content in it. I’d probably check if it’s still alive. I guess I’ll also squeeze it for what backlinks it could serve me.

The biggest thing you can do is stack links on top of that squidoo lense. Stack the hell out of it!
It will gain authority pretty fast and that juice will slow to your sales page!

Sire, to answer your question to Allyn. What he is talking about is:
Write articles at different directories and send a link to your Squidoo lens.
Make an article on InfoBarrel or Hubpages and send a link to your Squidoo lens. (I mention Infobarrel because the links out are active right away.
If you have other blogs on different IPs send a link to your Squidoo lens.
It doesn’t take a lot of links back to your Squidoo lens to get a Squidoo lens PR as Squidoo already is an authority site.
Make sure you publish your Squidoo lens daily and ping it daily.
Getting all these links to your Squidoo lens is how you do link stacking.
The same thing goes when someone puts an anchored link to your site in a post. You want to stack links from other sources to that post to give that link more juice. DO Not use the same site that was linked too. You will just be diluting that link. You want links coming from different sites. The more power you throw at that post the more juice Google will give that link. This is how you build authority.

Squidoo is a free site that allows users to create free pages or lenses. Squidoo lenses can be used to promote products, ideas or just for fun. Many lens makers use them to network with others by joining their lens with others in topic-specific groups.
I also have some lenses in squidoo and I know how effective it is,specially when there is a chance to make money with squidoo and internet marketing.

Congrats to you on your Lens ! A few years ago I set up a Squidoo account, but have yet to write a lens. Not sure what my issue is…just lazy I guess. I do quite a bit of writing on HubPages – very similar to Squidoo but not as lenient when it comes to links (I heard).
