May Statistics Down But Time Moves On

No matter what happens in life there is always one thing that you can rely on. The passage of time. It doesn’t matter how you try to prolong those times, to savor a particular moment in your life, you can’t. For a little while you are immersed in that sweet moment in time and then all you are left with are fleeting memories.

The thing is that although time is always on the move, what you do with it is a variable that may change what is about to happen. Well, all I can say is I don’t know what the hell I did last month, but whatever it was, it didn’t improve my stats at all.

  • Adsense: $26.33
  • Voxsant: $0.35
  • Kontera: $0.49
  • Clix Galore: $0.21
  • Chitika: $2.97
  • Infolinks: $1.44
  • Advertisers: $4
  • E-Junkie: $39
  • Paid Posts $55

Total: $129.79

So, there you go, my earnings are down, and I reckon that it’s partly to do with the amount of visitors that have passed through. Looking at overall page impression, April impressions being 20,163 and May impressions dropping to 10,729, it just goes to show that your earnings are directly related to how many visitors you can cajole to your sites. Actually I don’t think I did all that bad, as even though impressions dropped almost by half, my earnings only fell by 25%.

So, as time goes on all I need to do now is see what next month will bring. Perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised.

  1. How are you promoting your site? Do you rely strictly on SEO, or do you do something else too?

    1. Other than commenting on other blogs I don’t actively promote it at all. Considering that I think I am doing quite well.

      1. Yep, and if I had the time I would do a hell of a lot more. Commenting is a lot more fun and cheaper than paying for SEO :cool2_tb:

  2. Did you post less that you did the month before? I find it strange that you would loose half of your traffic in a month?

Mikael´s Last blog post..How To Check Fake Pagerank On Websites – A Tool Review

    1. Perhaps I should have stated that these figures are not for this blog alone, but for all my sites. I’m pretty sure I included that bit of information on my other posts but forgot to do so on this one. I’m not all that fussed. I know people change their habits, and even though the page views were down by half the revenue didn’t decrease by the same amount so I would assume that if the traffic was the same the revenue would have been so much better. That’s what you call looking for the silver lining in the cloud.

  3. Sire perhaps you need to balance out your writing and marketing time. To ensure all your posts get better rankings, it is a good idea to go out and build some links yourself. This can be anything…directory submissions, submitting articles to article directories, commenting on other people’s blogs, etc.

    1. There is that rub Jeremy, apart from actively commenting on blogs when I get the chance I don’t do any marketing.

  4. Looking at your blog design and affialite links I thought you might be making in thousand dollar/month atleast.
Don’t worry I’m sure your Income will take a great peak once your affiliate sales will improve all of a sudden. :)

Harsh Agrawal´s Last blog post..How to form a community out of your blog?

  5. Thanks Harsh, and who know what lies for me around the corner. Thanks for your kind words.

  6. I read that most Adsense types of earnings will come from search engine traffic. I’d guess that the conversion of search engine traffic to loyal readers is a good thing for the affiliate marketing plans, but less for the other ads.

An analysis of what happened in May vs. April that was different between all of your sites would be interesting. I know for me, I have seen a bit less traffic this month because I haven’t been commenting as much around the blogosphere. But that is purely traffic – I don’t do much in earnings either way.

    1. Hey Kristi, thanks for brightening up my blog with your presence. You know, 20 years ago I would have been scratching my head wondering what went wrong and checking the stats closely to see what I could do to improve things, and if this was a business blog or one where I was dependent on the income it generated, I would still be inclined to go that route.

Truth be told, while I love the extra income, if I had to run around chasing stats and stuff trying to garner information to improve my earning capacity via my blogs all the fun would go out of it, and if I wasn’t enjoying it I reckon I would just walk away. Nope, I ain’t going that route.

  7. Many bloggers would love to make 100+ bucks a month. Keep up the good work, I for one enjoy what you’re doing with your blog.

Dan´s Last blog post..Another Twitter Follower Tool

    1. Thanks Dan, I ain’t complaining mate, just reporting the stats. It’s interesting to see the see sawing effect each month and one can only hope that with time the swings will be higher rather than lower. Either way, as long as I continue to enjoy what I do the dollar effect is bonus rather than a necessity.

  8. Well it’s better than nothing Sire ;) And sometimes you just don’t do good no matter what. I think you should take a look at the content you posted and the context of it. Maybe you posted more on the X subject rather than the Z which lead less visitors here? I don’t have any solid proof but i have a feeling that this month your posts where a bit different… I think you should take a look ;)

stratosg´s Last blog post..Member Of The Month: May

    1. Thanks for the tip stratos, but I’m not complaining and I am happy with my posting regime. If I had to start going back and analyzing what I did differently, in order to change things, it would make blogging more of a chore rather than an enjoyable experience.

      1. i am not saying you *should* make the changes i am saying that it might be because of it. but one thing is for sure: you should be having fun!

stratosg´s Last blog post..Member Of The Month: May

  9. Sad that earnings are down but at least you still over the $100 mark. I finally got my network on track again and clear the $200 mark.

I hope we both do good this month.

Deneil Merritt´s Last blog post..Obsessive Compulsive Disorder – Pulling Out Hair

    1. Good on ya Deneil, I hope that you will always be ahead of me in earnings as it will make the chase all the sweeter. :laugh_tb:

      1. Sounds like a plan my friend.

Deneil Merritt´s Last blog post..Obsessive Compulsive Disorder – Pulling Out Hair

        1. Cool, and naturally as I inch closer to you you have to stay in front to make me work harder in the chase. Don’t you let me get in front because I’ll just slack off if you do.

          1. No problems, I am already over $100 for this month.

Deneil Merritt´s Last blog post..Obsessive Compulsive Disorder – Pulling Out Hair

          2. Now your just showing off :guns_tb: :lol_ee:

  10. I always enjoy reading other people money making statistics.
Although it all adds up Ive heard of other bloggers removing kontera due to it interfering with usability, and outweighing benefits that could be gained focusing on your other programs.
What site do you use for the paid posts?

Network 21´s Last blog post..Amway Product Comparison

    1. I can’t see that kontera interferes with usability at all, that and apart from placing a code on the blog it doesn’t require any resource to generate income.

As for the blogs I do paid posts on, the main ones are Blogsire and Well Blog Me.

  11. Some nice stats. I have more and more people use infolinks now. My earnings from infolinks is also low like yours.

Just to let you know that I switch dofollow on and off from time to time. I hear that G can penalize you and so I switch the whole time.
George Serradinho´s Last blog post..4 Free eBooks for you to download

  12. Yeah, I only use infolinks on a couple of blogs and while the earnings are low, it all adds up.

  13. Yes i agree with you. It’s time to move on.

    Thank You..

  14. Don’t worry Sire there will be next months, other months and so on:D

Rick´s Last blog post..Damage Docx2txt Retrieves Corrupted Word Documents

  15. Tomorrow must be better. You did better than mine, at least. Have you ever used or considered SEO services? Do not look bad on me. I’m not SEO guy or agency. I’m just curious.

Manop´s Last blog post..Refurbished Canon PowerShot Cameras on Sale

    1. Nope and can’t see me using their services anytime soon either. Perhaps if this was a business blog I would consider it, but its not so I won’t. :wink_ee:

  16. the main reason for the break down is the social acceptance of sexual immorality and fornication. if you asked 100 people between the ages of 15 and 35 if they thought having premarital sex, masturbation, and pornography was wrong and evil how many would say yes? so if you look at the onset of the “sexual revolution” in the 20th century and the ever increasing consequences of that mindset in the later generations it becomes clear.

    1. I’m sure Mr Fencing must have meant to put this comment under the penis extension post.

      1. Quite possible, but I’ve had to ‘de-link’ him for not following commenting guide lines.

  17. Wow I beat out Sire for adsense last month. There is hope for me after all.

    1. Hey Ned, how far off was I from beating you last month? Don’t tell me I have another person I have to keep tabs of lol.

      1. Sire,

Less than $1 and that was probably my best month. I am only referring to Adsense because that is all I have right now.

By the way I think Google just did a PR update. My site had dropped to a 2 and I just noticed it is back to a 3. Have you noticed any changes on your sites?

        1. Nope, all as it was before, except for maybe Cool Blog Links which is a PR2
