It’s been awhile since my last post on Market Samurai, at least 4 months, and I know you’re probably wondering where things are at. Truth be told I’ve been having a little problem with utilising its full potential. At first I thought it was because my old computer couldn’t handle the power but as it turns out they were having problems of their own.
Anyway they got it resolved and I was able to get a little more into it. As I mentioned in those other posts before Market Samurai I never really bothered about keyword research as I always figured it was a pain in the ass. When it came to deciding which keyword tools I would buy I decided to go for the one that everyone claimed to be the search engine optimisation specialist of keywords tools. I know I made the right choice too, and it’s not just because of all the positive comments I received in those posts from all the happy MS customers.
When I bought MS I had a particular blog in mind, my Sexual Aids blog, as I wanted it to get a whole lot more traffic and I couldn’t do it via the normal blog commenting route because most people don’t like links going to that sort of blog. So I thought keyword research was my best search engine optimisation strategy and Market Samurai the best keywordstool.
Using MS I discovered I was focusing on the wrong keywords so following its lead I decided a small change was necessary and so I focused my strategy on sexual aids as my keywords. While a blog’s changing content has always been a positive as far as search engines are concerned I’ve always felt it limited the SEO importance of the home page. This is because the home page is constantly changing with every new post. Keeping that in mind I included a little narrative in the header and footer including the keywords recommended by Market Samurai.
Since then those keywords, sexual aids, is now ranked #1 both in Bing and Yahoo. No such luck with Google though and the only thing I can think of is that Google places a lot more emphasis on backlinks, and like I said earlier its hard getting people to link to that particular blog. Anyway, if you’re looking for a good comment on your blog and you don’t mind linking to what is probably the only sex blog with good content :winkie: let me know in the comments and I’ll be there before you can say, ‘Sire is one heck of a horny blogger.’
As far as Market Samurai is concerned I’m still feeling my way around but the more I get into it the more I’m liking it. I may even use the domain feature to help me pick a good domain name for a niche site I have in mind. You may have noticed all the words in bold text and how some of them are spelt incorrectly, well it’s not because I’ve gone slack all of a sudden, it’s because I used Market Samurai as the keyword research tools to optimise this post to gain the best SEO advantage possible.
We all know that a lot of the time people misspell words when they do the searches and you can’t just guess what the misspelt words are. Well you could but you could be wasting your time by putting in the wrong words. MS helps you to use the right ones. Naturally you may not want to use them if you feel it will sully your professionalism, but that’s up to you.
If you’re not sure about outlaying the money to buy Market Samurai right now you’ll be happy to know they still have the trial offer. That means you can take it for a test run, as well as getting “4 Brief “How-To” Videos, Sharing How You Can Get More Visitors, with Less Effort” which they throw in as a thank you just for giving it a go.
Naturally as I learn more of the internal workings of Market Samurai I will be doing further updates and if I learn any tips and tricks I’ll be sure to share those with you.

Hi Sire
I tried the free version when it first came out. Have only heard good reports from people who continued using it. I didn’t continue once my free trial was up. Was too new to blogging at the time and knew I wouldn’t utilise it at the time.
Glad you are finding it useful for your blogging needs. Way to go Sire.

Hey Patricia, I think as far as keywords are concerned, although it’s probably best to use them at the beginning it’s never too late to start. Look at me :grin1_ee:
Thank you for sharing your honest experiences and for updating both the good and the bad in all that you do. I’ll be looking for more updates to see how MS helps you. :)

No worries Allie.
Have downloaded a trial a few days ago from the link on your site and contemplating purchasing Market Samurai for keyword research. So far I cant really see much difference between the Google keyword tool and Market Samurai, but then maybe Im doing something wrong.

Not having used the Google keyword tool I can’t make a legitimate comparison between the two. I do know that MS get’s its results from Google, both for keyword research and for analysing the keywords. I’m assuming that what it does is make the whole process easier. It also allows you to take the bad keywords out of the equation giving you a more accurate result. If it improves on Google’s tool as well as taking a lot of work out of the keyword research then I reckon it’s a pretty good investment.
Do you find the promotion tool useful?

I honestly haven’t gone that far down Khaled. I’ve had a quick look at what it offers and there are a few things I haven’t heard of. Thanks for bringing that to my attention. There may well be somethings there that I can use to promote that blog.
There is something called pingbacks that is supposed to be useful for promoting posts and there is a pretty good guide for using it on youtube.

are you kidding me? you can’t even compare it with the adwords tool. MS can filter them by the number of words, can show more than 50 keywords per page and so on… i think it’s definitely the best keyword research tool out there…

Hey Ben, I too am getting disappointed with Market Samurai. This is especially because they have changed their ‘seo competition’ feature. While in the past, they freely give you a neatly organized list of any website’s (yours or your competition’s)sources of backlinks complete with the exact anchor link they used, now they have associated this with a website where you have to sign up in order to get your own data. If you want to check your competition’s backlink sources, you need to be a paying subscriber. Makes me want to regret going for MS instead of Traffic Travis.
Sire, you can get backlinks to your sexual aids site by using Market Samurai’s SEO competition feature where you check where your competition got their backlinks. But of course, that was before MS changed that feature. :(
James Moralde recently posted…Fujitsu S1500 Automatic Photo-Document Scanner

I haven’t got to that feature yet James. It’s a shame they decided to go that route and I’m sure there is a reason for it.
I’ve just did a quick search and found this post on why they were forced to do the backlink data changes. I’m sure if things have changed that forced them to adapt then perhaps Traffic Travis will have to follow suit.
Sire recently posted…Do You Know Who Is Really Commenting On Your Blog
Ok, looks like they have no choice but to do it. Well, as far as I’m concerned, the backlink spying feature of MS is dead to me. You can’t even check your own site’s backlinks unless you know some coding and go insert some codes into your site’s mainpage code.
If Traffic Travis gets their data the same way, then yes, they’ll have to make appropriate changes too.
Twitter: AussieSire
I’m sure once they will work a way around it and once they do that feature will be fully functional once again.
Twitter: AussieSire
Just got an email from them saying that they have reactivated that feature from within MS. It seems others have complained and they’ve reacted. Good to know that they listen to their customers.

for me it also woks ok… maybe you have a virus or other problems with your PC. if it takes up too much RAM, check your hardware, might be a RAM problem… i had something like this once… every app took huge amount of RAM, even simple programs, like yahoo messenger, skype or winamp;)
I just downloaded it and it works ok. is it slower how? maybe it’s your internet connection (in case it requires to fetch adwords data, or stuff like that). anyway, it takes a lot of ram, because of that adobe air platform, which isn’t optimized yet, I think. the guys from adobe are doing a great job, but there is still a lot of room for improvement for adobe air platform

Glad your finding MS invaluable in your work! your right Google since the patent days has been relying on links as an indication of ‘value’. In G’s eyes Good content garners links.
Though some Niches with some good onsite SEO you can rank highly.
What I would recommend is go to the competition tab on MS and do a link/anchor analysis. This will

Thanks for the review on the updated MS. I’ve been looking at the software for quite some time and have been wondering if it’s really worth my money to invest in. I’ve been using both Market Samurai and Keyword Elite 2.0 for about a year or so. IMHO Keyword Elite is a far superior tool. I like that it pulls keywords from the major search engines AND from the meta tags of relevant sites. Always seems to produce a much larger list of targeted keywords than Market Samurai. I do think MS is a bit easier to learn though.

The Keyword research to find the top ranking sites in Google for a particular keyword is not really working. It shows a blank page.
Do you know any reason for it?

Honestly Rohit, I’m not the best person to ask as I’m not that technically minded and I’m still learning when it comes to Market Samurai. Your best bet is to put in a support ticket as the guys there are really good. Before I would do that though I would download the latest update as apparently there has been the following Bug Fix: “An issue causing Rank Tracker to hide all data has been fixed. No data was lost, it was simply not visible.”

I’m, not too happy about the problems MS have lately. But I do realize that most of there problems are related to services that are not under there control, like Yahoo site explorer, Google keyword tool and majestic seo. MS just collect data from there sites and sort them out. But after all, MS is not just seo and keyword research tool (best feature nevertheless). If we forget the slowness (which is more problem with Adobe air then MS)and glitch here and there, is MS still a great tool. I rather use a little buggy MS then doing all that researching by hand.
