Is Chitika Better Than Google Adsense?
The answer to this question will probably differ from blogger to blogger and so I can only divulge my actual experience over the last couple of months. If you recall my previous post, Chitika Has Proven That Their Ads Truly Work, where I was giving my opinion on Chitika as an extra avenue for monetizing you blog, I only had a months worth of data to go on. What surprised me was that in the first month they actually matched the revenue that I earned from Google!
After checking my earnings over the last month I noticed that Google went down by 50% but Chitika went up by 50%! Without divulging the actual amounts let me give you an example of the breakdown.
Month 1 Month 2
Google $10 $5
Chitika $10 $15
This shows that Chitika has actually outperformed Google and that my actual earnings had doubled over those normally taken by relying on Google Alone. So, is it better? Certainly the answer this month would have to be yes, but only time will tell whether or not it can continue to do so.

I had almost forgotten about the Chitika thing, even though I have an email saved from the first time you mentioned it to me. Man, so much stuff, so little time,…

Yeah, I know the feeling. To tell the truth I am really thrilled about Chitika. I’ve heard of people who lose their adsense account through no fault of their own, at least if that happens to me I have a backup plan.

I’ll tell you the truth, Sire, I had a moment late last year when I thought I’d be ready to give up Adsense, when I was having some problems on BP with it (I got a notice saying something alluding to something illegal, and tracked it to there), but then thought some more and realized that, no, I’m really not ready to give it up. Yeah, I guess I’d find another way, but if I don’t have to then I’m perfectly happy having it around.

The thing is that you don’t need to give it up, as you can run both on your blogs without any drama at all.

So far ive made .02 cents from Chikita.. Although I have only run there ads for less then a week.

Google has been good to me.. average 10-20 a month. CJ is starting to pick up for me lately. Always surprised to log in and see more $ but as you said.. things take time.

Hi Sire,
Thanks for the report on how Adsense and Chitika are doing for you.
It’s been a long time since I looked at Chitika, and when I did their product ads just weren’t a good fit for any of my sites.
I just went to Chitika and I still had a publisher account, so I looked into the pro ads and really liked what I saw.
I just added them to the right column of my blog and we’ll see how it works over the rest of the year.
I like how it just shows the referral button if someone doesn’t come from a search engine, and shows the full ad when they do. That’s pretty cool.
Thanks, again.

Yeah and it only works for those in the US so if you get a visit from someone in another country it won’t show either. I’ve got that one on my blogs as I get a lot of US visitors.

Dumb question time….what exactly does it do?

Hey Dennis, basically all it does is sit there on your blog making you money. How does that sound. My Chitika ad sits right under the poll on the left column and I stick one under every post.

Sire, just asking, but do you have a plugin for Chitika, or are you throwing those ads in there?

Seeing how I am the perpetual lazy blogger I reckon I can safely say that I use a plugin, and I have just noticed they have some other goodies there as well.

Oh very cool, thanks for the link! :-)

As an Aussie blogger with a lot of general traffic Chitika is doing very well for me, but I agree that US traffic will probably generate a slightly higher income.

Great post, I had never heard of Chitika before, but saw it in action on Sire’s site and was directed over here. I will certainly look into it!

No worries Jeremy and I figured if I was going to direct you to a post about Chitika, I may as well point you to one of mine

I never had much success with Chitika, but have done well with Adsense. It all depends on the site, other advertising methods, and the visitors. I could see it working better on a blog where you discuss gadgets or the like…

It’s working pretty well for me and I don’t have too much to do with gadgets. Did you use Chitika Premium at all?
[Reply]
I did. They contacted me and asked me to try it again and was really turned off by their new system.
