OK, I am normally a patient sort of bloke but this “You Comment I Follow” bullshit is really pissing me off. I reckon that although there may be some bloggers that are doing the right thing most of them just display the badge to con people into leaving a comment. Out of all the comments I have left on so called ‘You Comment I Follow’ blogs there was only one blogger that had the decency to follow me back to my blog and actually leave me a comment. That blogger was David Rader whose post was actually sending the whole thing up anyway. David I commend you on your post U Comment I Follow Parody Badges for it certainly is a mockery of the movement.
Still I concede that there is merit in the idea, it’s just too bad that bloggers are not following it diligently. I see no reason why I shouldn’t try to take the ‘You Comment I Follow’ movement one step further. I promise that if you comment on one of my posts, not only will I follow you to your blog but I will comment on one of your posts. Now I concede that may well have been the intention of the original movement but apart from those like David very few are following it to to the point of leaving a comment. Maybe they are following, maybe they are getting lost along the way, but whatever they are bloody doing it’s not culminating in a comment. So as far as I am concerned it’s out with the old movement and in with the new.

I had to read this twice to understand what you were talking about, as this is the first time I’ve ever seen it. I think I’ll stick with CommentLuv. :-)
Now, you have me worried Mitch as I feel that I didn’t explain myself properly. As much as I love commentluv it doesn’t guarantee that someone will return the favor by commenting in return, something that I do anyway to show that I appreciate that they took the time to comment. I was simply trying to promote this trait in others. BTW, I notice that commentluv didn’t pick up your last post?
Oh Great, now I have guilt. Man.
Love the new site, honey. Very cool.

No need for the guilt trip Christine, I don’t think you display the badge on your site anyway. Or do you? I think I shall check it out

Only on one of them, but I really do try to live up to it. I don’t always succeed, but I do try. :)

At least you honestly make the effort to try. I’ve had some friends struggle with it and give up entirely. Good for you.
Trying makes all the difference and I know how truly busy you are, which is why I really appreciate your comments.
I followed your comment from ultimate blogging experience dot com.
Sire, as flashy as your website is, I prefer simplicity, and it takes bloody hell long to load all the pictures. Definitely not hating, just hope my opinion helps.
I think if your site is simpler, and with a marketable logo, you have what it takes to take off.
Anyways, I’ve been running my site with a team for about a week, and we are so sad to see sooo few comments. I know how exciting it is to see comments because your ultimate goal is to build a community like I am.
Well, best of luck to you and I hope you achieve what your originally created your blog for. Take care Sire!
Thanks for your comment HTC, and I suppose it is all a matter of preference and I love all the bells and whistles. There is an option where I can have a static banner but that just doesn’t do it for me. If you site is new then all I can say is give it time and once people get to know you are there things should pick up.

You may be misunderstand the meaning of “U Comment, I Follow.” Most blogs will attach a ‘rel=”nofollow”‘ attribute to the link in the comment, meaning that Google and other won’t count it for SEO purposes. It does not have anything to do with the blog owner commenting on your blog.
Oh, I understand completely David, I am just saying that it is a major drawback. Perhaps for other people’s benefit it should be ‘You comment Google follow’. I like my idea a whole lot better as not only do you know you are commenting on a blog that supports ‘dofollow’ but there is a good chance that the blogger will return the favor.
Hi ! ^_^
My name is Piter Kokoniz. Just want to tell, that I like your blog very much!
And want to ask you: is this blog your hobby?
Sorry for my bad english:)
Tnx!
Your Piter
Yep hobby, favorite pastime, it’s all good. Oh, just so you know you’ve been ‘de-linked’ as the links on that site led to other porn sites that I do not want to be affiliated with.
I totally agree with you mate, this is pissing me off as well.
Along with that some people, although they claim to be using the dofollow plugin, have installed the SEO comments plugin..
you should check this plugin out.. its total bullsh!t
this plugin makes a new page on the owners blog where we left the comment and direct there via our link.
Im sick of losers who think they can get away with this

Why would I want to do that if it’s total BS?
Anyway, all you can do is do what you believe to be right and not worry about anybody else.
I happened to visit a blog that has the ‘You Comment I Follow’ badge, but it does’t have the dofollow attribute. tsk tsk tsk.
Also I need some help. I have a blog on Blogger. How can I make it a Dofollow blog? Making it Dofollow is away of showing you readers you gratitude.
I’m sorry I can’t help you Sam as I don’t know too much about Blogger blogs.
Do any of you notice a lot more spam type comments (i.e “Good post”)? I am considering using the plugin, but really don’t want 300 comments saying “nice read” or “thanks”. I’m sure comment count will go up, but will comment quality go down drastically? Thanks!

Check out my comments and I think you will have your answer in regards to quality. Sure I have to delete some but that’s part of being a good blogger.
I hadn’t heard of this until I read it here. I think it’s a great concept if people manage to follow through with it 8/
It does require commitment but I am proof it pays off.
Maybe you’re right, but it will be a straaaaining job to comment everyone who comments you imo!

R.C. Vliegtuig
True, but it’s worth the effort.
