Giving MyLikes The Thumbs Up

Seeing how it’s been a little over a month since my post on mylikes I thought it was about time I did an update.  The post that introduced my readers to a way to monetize Twitter was titled How The Things I Like Can Make Me Money, explained how it all worked.that post included a widget that could be used in your sidebar thereby allowing more exposure to your ‘likes’ which would in turn increase your potential for earning money.

Even though I haven’t made proper use of the widget by placing it in the sidebar I still managed to earn $12 in the short time I’ve been using mylikes, and I haven’t even been tweeting my ‘likes’ every day. Those that I have tweeted, a grand total of 24, means that I was earning about 50 cents a tweet. Considering I’ve only got about 500 followers I reckon that’s pretty good.

I know that some people will not join because they are afraid that their followers may see these ‘sponsored’ tweets as a form of spam, and to those people I assure you as long as you only tweet products or services that you feel could be of value to your followers I don’t think you will have a problem.

Something else you should consider is that you can only tweet a mylikes offer once a day and if you’re someone who tweets a lot I doubt very much that anyone will hold one tweet against you. That plus the fact that all tweets will have a ‘#ad’ tag alongside it showing your followers that the tweet is actually an ad, and if they click on it then they must have an interest in what is being offered.

One last thing, I can safely say that since using mylikes I’m pretty sure I haven’t lost a follower, and so I give mylikes the thumbs up. :thumbup_tb:

  1. Soon my friend, I don’t really want to pester my 27 followers, lol, but I will absolutely be taking advantage of it eventually.

    1. Sounds like a plan Dennis

  2. It’s a good idea to follow people whom you know are interested in the same things as you if you wish to use mylikes. just my opinion though.

    1. It’s not the people you follow that matter Julius, it’s the people that follow you that count.

  3. I’m still a little weary of trying to monetize Twitter. Granted I see people doing it every day, but perhaps it’s just not for me.. Or not yet anyways, haha! I hope you keep us posted on how this works out for you thought, and maybe I’ll end up changing my mind!
.-= Ryan Cowles@Metacom Creative Design´s last blog ..Metacom Newsletter and Invoice / Resume Redesign =-.

    1. Ryan, the way I look at it is I don’t think anyone will mind if I don’t abuse it, and seeing as how I only do one mylikes tweet a day I can’t see that upsetting anyone.

Unless something new comes up I won’t be doing any further updates. I’ve already given it a thumbs up, what more do you want? lol

      1. Haha. When it comes down to it, once a day isn’t bad at all. And like you said, if you only provide ads that are relevant, then there shouldn’t be a problem. And I do have to admit, I’ve been following you on Twitter and I haven’t been annoyed yet! I think you might have already changed my mind about monetizing Twitter, haha.
.-= Ryan Cowles@Metacom Creative Design´s last blog ..Metacom Newsletter and Invoice / Resume Redesign =-.

        1. That’s good to know Ryan, I sure would like to know if I was starting to cheese people off so I reckon I’m going to rely on you to keep an eye on my tweets :wink_ee:

  4. I had only 4 tweets {or was it five} and earned just over the minimum for a payout since joining. I don’t think I lost any followers for it. Was any of the $12 for referrals?

    1. Nope, that was all from Tweets. Imagine what I could have made if I had more followers? :wink_ee:

  5. Well, I will definitely try it out. As well I will get me more followers. This is easy money. Why not using Twitter for making some money!

  6. Good to see you don’t lose followers due to that and does they pay you yet? Good earning number. At least one can pay hosting bill easily. :)

        1. I’ll keep an eye out for you Colleen and if I find anything real estate orientated I will let you know.

    1. That’s cool Mitch, more for me :devil_tb:

  9. It’s cool to see all the different marketing techniques companies are doing. Sponsored tweets is the high tech word of mouth advertising, which is always great.

    1. Yep and as long as you tweet the stuff you think your followers will like it’s a win win situation.

  10. I use Mylikes, as well as Sponsored Tweets, and I personally don’t see anything wrong with it. Like you said, be selective on what ads you tweet (I find that I refuse more than I accept on sponsored tweets, so they have slowed down) and the extra cash is always nice :)

Sire, I appreciate you testing the waters and letting us know it’s clear. LOL. We faint-hearted ones need brave souls to explore the unknown before we take another step forward.

Like the others, I think I’ll work on getting more followers. This is one good motivation to do it now.

  14. You know what, just because you made such a good review of it, I might as well check my likes out. I don’t have a lot of twitter followers though so maybe somewhere in the future.

    1. There’s been a few people who have said that, but I reckon I can honestly say that unless you sign up for it now the majority of you will forget all about it, missing out on what could be a fruitful opportunity.

  15. Keep us up to date on Mylikes Sire.

  16. Hi Sire,

Hands up update from you is quite a recommendation. I appreciate your follow up on your first post about the MyLiles thing.

I still don’t understand exactly how it works but sponsored tweets is the bases of it so I have an idea.

I will want to try it within a couple of months just to make sure it will work for me too.

Right now I just ain’t got no time to learn the ropes of the system.

I intend to read your posts about it again when I do have some spare time and will take action right then.

    1. No worries Vance. The guys who thought this idea up actually worked for Google at one stage so you would expect it to be pretty well thought out.

  17. Sorry i’m replying a little late on this post, and even others. You know i don’t make a comment except i’ve read fully and understood what you are saying including reading others comment. Well, my slate has been filled and will be so for some months to come. So please bear with me. I’ll still make out time to read your posts and comment though, i’ll only be late

So i have read in detail about mylikes from the link to the article you provided and with all you said about it, i think it’s great and it’s definitely worth trying. Though i don’t even have the time, or just don’t think posting link in twitter yield excellent results. I believe everyone is there to promote something and with the number of tweets that people get on a daily basis, they can hardly read any. So even when i think i have more than 500 mostly targeted followers, i just i’m not crazy about twitter. But i can definitely try it with this.

But i doubt if i will get the kind of result you did, because for followers to take you seriously, you have to be consistent and i’m sorry i’m not

I’ll make out time to visit the site and read about it more and possibly sign up

I really welcome these little extra money making tips that you share every now and then. For me every dollar counts.

And oh, my commentluv is still not picking my post. I’m almost giving up on it

    1. Karo I must say I am always impressed by the quality of your comments and so the timing of it doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

As to joining I would highly recommend it especially as it’s free to join and so any money made from mylikes is pure profit.

In regards to commentluv I’ve been playing around with the url you’ve been using and I’ve found, as can be seen from this comment that links to your last post, that you should be using the following format http://bestworkathomebusinessonline.com :thumbup_tb: :smoke_tb:

      1. That’s good to hear Sire, you’ve got me hooked :smile_wp:.

Thanks so much for the help with the plugin but should i be worried that the plugin doesn’t recognize my normal url? i mean with the www. Is it possible that i will loss some traffic opportunities? :confused_wp: I mean if the plugin doesn’t recognize it,it’s possible that some platforms won’t. Is there any advice? I’ll really appreciate it
.-= Karo@Work at home business´s last blog ..Home Based Business =-.

        1. Just noticed something. I made a post on my blog today, which i was expecting the plugin to pick, but instead it brought up my previous post. :redface_wp:
.-= Karo@Work at home business´s last blog ..Home Based Business =-.

          1. That does happen Karo, it’s just because it hasn’t had time to pick up the new post yet. I wouldn’t worry about it. At least it’s working now.

        2. I’m not sure, but if you’re worried about it there is a way around it. Simply put the url that works in first and then write your comment. After you’ve finished your comment change the url to the one with the www in it and then click submit.

  18. I tried to sign up with them today, but supposedly I already had an account, and they “sent” me my password reminder three hours ago, but I haven’t seen it come through yet. :(

    1. I’ve got the exact same problem when I signed up for HootSuite from your site, I’m still waiting for an email and that was over a week ago. Left them an email and still no response so I reckon they’re just not interested in me. No probs, I’m pretty happy with TweetDeck

  19. I feel this idea would provide easy money to many of the marketing guys. But for this we must have a good list of followers I guess.

    1. Sure a lot of followers help but even a few is a good start.
