Friday Funnies #4 Fracking Water And The Kid From Eromanga

It’s finally Friday, I’m stuffed, I have to work tomorrow but I love you guys too much not to continue with the Friday Funnies series.  :tongue_laugh_ee: Once again I have a joke and a video that I hope will amuse you no end.

You’ve probably heard that people who are country bred are stronger, fitter and more able to show up the city folk. I’m sure the country folk would love you to believe that and the city folk would turn up their nose at the idea. True or not it leads us to the first of this Friday’s funnies.

The Kid From Eromanga Joins The Army

Text of a letter from a kid from Eromanga to Mum and Dad. (For Those of you not in the know, Eromanga is a small town, west of Quilpie in the far south west of Queensland )

Dear Mum & Dad,

I am well. Hope youse are too. Tell me big brothers Doug and Phil that the Army is better than workin’ on the station – tell them to get in bloody quick smart before the jobs are all gone! I wuz a bit slow in settling down at first, because ya don’t hafta get outta bed until 6am. But I like sleeping in now, cuz all ya gotta do before brekky is make ya bed and shine ya boots and clean ya uniform. No bloody horses to get in, no calves to feed, no troughs to clean – nothin’!! Ya haz gotta shower though, but its not so bad, coz there’s lotsa hot water and even a light to see what ya doing!

At brekky ya get cereal, fruit and eggs but there’s no kangaroo steaks or goanna stew like wot Mum makes. You don’t get fed again until noon and by that time all the city boys are buggered because we’ve been on a ‘route march’ – geez its only just like walking to the windmill in the bullock paddock!!

This one will kill me brothers Doug and Phil with laughter. I keep getting medals for shootin’ – dunno why. The bullseye is as big as a bloody dingo’s arse and it don’t move and it’s not firing back at ya like the Johnsons did when our big scrubber bull got into their prize cows before the Ekka last year! All ya gotta do is make yourself comfortable and hit the target – it’s a piece of piss!! You don’t even load your own cartridges, they comes in little boxes, and ya don’t have to steady yourself against the rollbar of the roo shooting truck when you reload!

Sometimes ya gotta wrestle with the city boys and I gotta be real careful coz they break easy – it’s not like fighting with Doug and Phil and Jack and Boori and Steve and Muzza all at once like we do at home after the muster.

Turns out I’m not a bad boxer either and it looks like I’m the best the platoon’s got, and I’ve only been beaten by this one bloke from the Engineers – he’s 6 foot 5 and 15 stone and three pick handles across the shoulders and as ya know I’m only 5 foot 7 and eight stone wringin’ wet, but I fought him till the other blokes carried me off to the boozer.

I can’t complain about the Army – tell the boys to get in quick before word gets around how bloody good it is.

Your loving daughter,

Susan

Coal Seam Gas Fracking My Water

Before seeing this video I didn’t realize that there even was such a thing as fracking or that there was some environmental concerns where fracking was concerned. I just thought I’d share that little tidbit with you before you watch the video.

That’s all folks. Be sure to come back for a shot of next weeks Friday Funnies.

  1. I liked the first one; a great twist at the end. Sounds a little like some “Southern” jokes I’ve heard here. Still, I didn’t see it coming.

    1. So did I Allan. It had me smiling most of the way through it and the punch line was definitely worth the wait.

  2. Get tongue in cheek commentary on the whole issue of ‘Cluster Fracking’ Very Funny spin on a serious subject.

    1. Glad you liked it Suzy

  3. Even if this country kid turned soldier is a girl after all, I still think most of what she said is true. Like when ‘city boys break easy’. Wow, these kids from the outbacks must be darn sturdy. You’d have to if you handle livestock every day. :)

    1. I’m sure that living a hard life where you have to work very hard to survive will breed a different type of person James.

  4. I didnt really enjoy the Joke this week as much as i have the other recent friday funnies but must say the video cheered me up.”The correct term is a cluster frack” hahahahaha love it cheers for the smile.

  5. Very good Sire. Army’s in good hands. LOL. The diet and conditions were certainly easier than back home ,I would say. Can’t say I would have enjoyed the kangaroo steaks all the same. Another good installment of your Friday funnies, Sire. Couldn’t view the video because my grandkids used up my broadband and I don’t get anymre until the 28 Feb.

    1. Yeah, my kids used to use up all my broadband too until I upgraded. I now have a terabyte and I’m pretty sure they won’t be able to use all that. :wink_ee:

As for kangaroo steaks, you should give them a go, they taste nice and are good for you too

Susan! Okay, that one threw me off, as I wasn’t expecting it, and if I weren’t sitting in the library I’d have laughed out loud. I’ve seen the video before. Funny one this week.

Heck, CommentLuv hates me today; oh well…

    1. Now, if you did laugh out loud, even though you’re in the library, that’s when I know you really, really loved the joke.

  10. Those fracken drillers are always fracken up this fracken country! ;-)
Fracken frack! My fracken comments are not even fracken long enough, what the frack!

    1. Yep, looks like that comment length feature of Commentluv Premium is working then Kirk :laugh_tb:

Oh, btw – when I leave a comment the commentluv does this status bar thing and then an error appears: Error. Parsing JSON Request failed.

        1. Thanks for that Kirk, I’ll look into that the first chance I get.

  11. hahahaha fracking, at first i thought it was a serious news cast, but then the excesive fracking showed me that it was some kind of spoof. Anyway, nice one! :))

    1. Glad you liked it Gabi.

  12. Can’t say I’ve ever heard of fracking either; at least, not outside the confines of Battle Star Galactica. I enjoyed the first joke; very witty.
