As you all know I like to find ways of making money online and then presenting it to my readers for them to look at. You may remember the post I did on Rotating Banner Problem Resolved By Max Banner Ads, if not you should seriously go and check it out. Anyway when choosing ads for Max Banner Ads I chose those that I thought would be most suitable for my readers. As it turns out one of them proved to be very popular and so I thought it would be a great idea for a post.
This is one of those Get Paid To Write From Home! deals and I want to say right up front that I have not actually tried it. The only reason I’m even mentioning it is because those ads have produced sales and so I figured there are those out there who think it’s a good deal. Perhaps they would love to leave a comment telling us of their experience with Real Writing Jobs!
From what I could gather the thing people would find most appealing about this site is that you can work from home doing the thing you like best, writing. As bloggers isn’t the love of writing the one thing that keeps us motivated? So, if you were to take this job opportunity on what could you expect?
- Getting paid for doing short blog posts for other bloggers.
- Getting paid for writing short articles
- Getting paid to proof read websites
It all sounds pretty good doesn’t it, but unlike most things I write about this one is not free.
Now that’s not a real problem if their claim of their claim of earning up to $315 a day is true. Now take careful note that they’re not saying you will earn $315/day, you can earn up to that amount as their FAQ’s suggest it all depends on how hard you want to work. The more you take on the greater the earning potential, as long as there are writing tasks for the taking.
The question you’re probably all asking is exactly how much is it going to cost you and the answer to that is $47 per month. There is a Special Discount For New Members though and that may be worth while for those considering it. From what I can gather it will give you a 10 day trial of their system for only $9.
You know, while writing this post I decided to give it a go, so I’ve joined using that discount voucher and it only cost me $2.95 for the 10 day trial! Expect to get an update in 10 days as to how I’m doing. I was going to tweet every time I made some money but I thought that could become a bit tiresome for my followers so I’ve decided to place something in my sidebar telling you how much I’ve earned thus far.
If anyone is currently using them I would really love a comment, as to the rest of you is this something that you could see yourself doing?
Not even 24 hours later and I’ve done my followup post. Read all about my short lived experience with writing for Real Writing Jobs.

I took a look at Real Writing Jobs about a week ago. Now that I think about it, it was probably your banner that I saw and used to go see what they are about. I have not done business with this company, but have worked with several that are very similar.
The way these sites work is that they have software that crawls a collection of job search sites, freelance websites, and other places where work for writers gets posted. They then return these results in your members’ area.
In most cases these are real writing jobs and are usually put out by website and blog owners who want cheap labor to fill their sites full of content so they can get wealthy from PPC advertising. Other examples my involve writing product reviews that again are used by webmasters who want the advertising revenue but can’t write. Some can’t even speak English.
What you need to be careful of is over-hyped promises of riches; you may have been told that you can get paid up to $125 for writing one article but that is by far the exception and definitely not the rule when it comes to working with sites like RealWritingJobs.com.
First off, the really high paying jobs require the ability to not only write exceptionally well but to be able to write on highly technical issues like medicine or physics. To make the “up to” values they state you would need to type really-really fast and have to spend NO time doing research – you need to be so expert in the field that you have intimate knowledge. Blog posts and short articles about common every day topics typically pay 1 cent per word. Many I’ve seen lately are offering only ½ cent per word and expect 10 articles of 500 words each every day for a week from each author. Read these contracts carefully, some say that if you fail to meet the quota and deadline, you don’t get paid – even for the work you DID send in.
The only such jobs board that I enjoyed working with was FlexJobs.com; they charge me $15 a month, crawl all the major jobs boards AND offer tools and utilities to help authors build their skill and improve their reputation. However, they simply LIST the jobs, it’s still up to you to apply for them.
Sites like TextBrokers.com actually do the hiring and act as brokers between writers and clients. Again the pay ranges from 1 cent to 3.5 cents per word. But you can peruse the job postings and reserve any that you feel you want to write. They charge no membership fee at all but you will have to submit samples and be accepted by their editorial board to obtain membership.
I will look forward to your evaluation of RealWritingJobs.com to see if they’re another of the same-old, same-old or truly something worth investing in.

You are pretty well on the Mark Allan. If I didn’t join I wouldn’t know how close on the mark you actually are. I’ve gone past there pages of jobs so far and all I can say is that most are not offering that much at all. I make way more on doing paid posts.
The highest one I’ve found so far was offering 1C per word which for a 500 word article would net you a whole $5. I can write a 200 word article on one of my blogs and get from $10-30. I don’t accept any tasks under $10. You may be expected to write 10 articles which would then net you $50 and some of that may be payable in fees depending on which site they’re using. At that rate you would have to write a whole lot of articles to make over $300 a day
A lot of the jobs actually come from Freelancer so you would probably be better off joining them directly. I’ll keep looking into is to see if I can actually make any money. May be a little difficult for me if all they’re offering is peanuts though because I don’t work for peanuts.
Sire recently posted…Do You Want To Outrank The Probloggers
After using FlexJobs for a couple of months I saw a strong pattern in where they were getting most of their job postings… and all of those were free to the public boards. Aggregate sites like these make searching multiple boards easier by pulling them into one place, but that is about the only benefit. I have my favorites that I check whenever I have a lul to pick up a new assignment or two. No need to pay some web site $15 (or $50) a month.
Twitter: AussieSire
I’m afraid I would have to agree with you Allan. At least they’re willing to offer a 10 trial at a minimum cost.
Sire recently posted…My Experience With Real Writing Jobs
I know a few people that write and what they do is go visit forums in their niche and they offer their services. I would say it is entirely possible to make $100+ per day. If the market is there you write say 20 articles at $5 per article and that is an easy $100 per day online just for writing.
Bookmarked!
Thanks

Honestly Bryan, $100 a day doesn’t sound all that bad but if you have to write 20 articles in order to make that much then all I can say is I hate to see the quality of those articles. I can’t see too much research going into them.
Twitter: BlogStashdotcom
I have to agree 100%. I mean even if you are a fast writer (unlike me), it will still take you a while to research about the subject.
Even if you manage to write that many articles a day with good quality, you probably won’t have any time left in the day to do anything else.
Satrap recently posted…How to Make Money Online
Twitter: AussieSire
Yep, and if you’re turning out poor quality you won’t be keeping your job for very long.
Sire recently posted…Do You Want To Outrank The Probloggers
My only suggestion would be to outsource that stuff to someone else that is a lot cheaper.
Find a client willing to pay $10 for an article, and hire someone for $5. That way – you make $5 by doing nothing.
Rinse and repeat. You may get rich someday :)
Twitter: AussieSire
If someone was going to pay me $10 for an article I’d do it myself and take the whole $10.
Sire recently posted…What Affiliates To Promote To Blog For Money
The problem is when you are actually paying for someone who writes blog posts and articles for you. Unless you are sure that the person delivers quality content, you may end up loosing more money than if you would do it by yourself, even though the rates of this person may look very affordable at first sight.
Twitter: AussieSire
I wouldn’t actually do it Andreas but there are a lot of people out there who have multiple blogs. Their only intention is to make money and so they’re willing to have someone else write the content for them. It seems they’re more interested in the search engines than they are in their readers.

The way Allan Douglas is telling it, the prospect of earning good in this area seem not very bright. But then I’m naturally pessimistic. I’m interested though to know the outcome of your venture Sire.

Sire recently posted…Do You Want To Earn Money Writing
Yo! A friend of mine is currently making a living by writing short blog posts for companies.
Believe it or not, but they’re actually willing to pay him $5/100 words. That’s how bad they are at writing and connecting with people via text.
However, one should always remember to not sell themselves for too little. That’s exactly what my friend did in the beginning, and I don’t recommend anyone doing so.
/Kim.
Twitter: AussieSire
Hi Kim,
$5 for every 100 words is a very good deal. If I had seen those sorts of jobs available I would have stuck with them longer than I did.
Sire recently posted…How To Make Money Off A Popular Post
Allan has a pretty awesome review of the site. Those earning potentials you see in the FAQ’s always make me wonder what the average is, because most places like that take the outside edges of the spectrum and advertise you could make it.
Even with the FTC laws passed in the summer of 2009, the tricky language still makes it easy to make these claims.
Why not just be realistic like Allan is?

There were some jobs that paid really high Delena but they had nothing to do with writing. Perhaps they included those jobs when coming up with their figures.
Sounds like a very good experiment Sire. One thing I would hope (and request if I may) is that perhaps you can log how much time you spend on the articles.
so we can get a Time vs Reward analysis. At the least it would really help time strapped people like me :D

Sire recently posted…To Moderate Or Not To Moderate- That Is The Question
I’ll be interested in reading your report too because this is exactly the type of thing I warn new writers about. As far as I’m concerned no one should have to pay to get access to jobs. Besides the fact that there are thousands of ads for writing jobs out there every day, there are many other ways to get writing jobs.
But I apply the same rule to this as I do to any means of making money online – if someone is promising you fast and easy money it is likely too good to be true!

Will be interesting to see exactly how the article writing works out value wise, when you look at how long each article takes to research and write compared to how much you get paid for the service. Have to say I don’t envy your 10 day trial, think there’s a good chance that update will come well before the ten days have passed ;)

Hi Sire, I know it is an off-topic comment, but this thing has been troubling me since 2 days; I see that you have the Alexa Traffic Rank Widget installed on your blog, but my question is does it really help to improve the Alexa traffic rank as most ‘experts’ say that having it on your website helps?
Akhilesh recently posted…Notepad Tricks – Some Cool Notepad tricks for Windows
Twitter: AussieSire
Well the way I look at it Akhiles is that it won’t hurt. If you consider that Alexa measures your blog’s actual traffic and it can only do that if people have their plugin installed on their browser then by putting the widget on your blog Alexa doesn’t have to rely on people having Alexa empowered browsers as it records each and every visit.

I used to write for earning as well. I must say that at times I really liked what I did, but when the pay was real low it used to be a tough job. So, one day I decided that I’d stop freelancing and start blogging full-time.
Twitter: AussieSire
Nothing wrong with freelancing if you enjoy it and it pays well. I reckon blogging gives you a whole lot more freedom, and even when you take paid reviews you get the added benefit of adding to your SERPS.
