Why You’re Not Getting Sales On Your Blog

I’ve often wondered about this and I’ve even tried to compare blogs to real word businesses in order to find an answer. Let’s consider a couple of real world businesses to see where some differences may lie. The first one that comes to mind, probably because I’ve been associated with this type of business for most of my life, is the supermarket or corner deli. As long as their premises are neat, tidy and welcoming and their staffs attitude is professional and friendly they’re likely to convert almost every person that comes into their store into sales. The main reason for this is people who come into this type of store are looking for something that they need then and there.

Now lets look at a store that sells TV’s, Hi-Fi systems and the like. They may find it a little harder to convert because not everyone that walks into their store is ready to buy a product then and there. Many are window shopping or even looking for the right product at the right price. However, it is possible to convert these casual shoppers as long as you have the properly trained staff. Staff that are able to approach the prospects without scaring them off. Who are able to get out of the prospects what it is they are looking for and then convince them that they are not only able to offer the best deal but the best after sales service as well. Done correctly, even if the prospect leaves the store many will come back, especially if they do not receive the same service elsewhere, to complete the sale. I know this to be a fact because it’s happened many times while I was working in such a store.

Knowing Who Your Customers Are

In the above examples, as in other such businesses in the real world, they have the advantage in that people walking into their stores know what they’re selling and more importantly are probably wanting to buy something from them, if not now at a later date. This is generally not the case for our blog visitors, especially if the blogger has been using the wrong keywords to attract prospective customers.

Are You Using The Wrong Keywords?

This is something every good blogger must ask themselves. How often have you left in disgust because you landed on a site that had absolutely nothing to do with what you were searching for. While some may blame Google for it the problem usually lies with

the site owner for using the wrong keywords. Their mistake was all they were interested in was traffic rather than getting a lower amount of targeted traffic which has more chance of converting. While traffic may be good for lowering your Alexa ranking its pretty useless unless the people who land on your site are actually looking for the products you have on offer. Traffic that isn’t targeted can be likened to customers who rush into a store just to get out of the rain. They may look around while there but they’re not likely to buy anything and once the rain stops they will continue their journey to the store which has what they’re looking for and are therefore more likely to make a sale.

I have to admit that before Market Samurai I never used to worry about keywords because it was all to hard and I know now what a great mistake that was. It’s better to do some keyword research than to not worry about it at all because otherwise you’re not getting the right traffic reducing any chance at converting traffic into sales.

Knowing Your Audience

An important question to ask yourself is who exactly is reading your blog. This is

because if you know who your readers are then you have more of a chance at selecting the right products to sell to them. The real reason many bloggers are failing when it comes to marketing is because they’re pushing the wrong products to the wrong people.

Say for example you know that your audience consist mainly of teenagers then you would want to provide products that would interest them. This could be anything from ways of treating acne to the latest iPhone. Find the right products and then you’re finally on a winner.

Take this blog for example, it’s not a niche blog and yet it still provides me an income. Most of my readers are bloggers and therefore most of my money comes from selling blogging related products. My biggest seller to date has been the FlexSqueeze theme and other products include the plugins like CommentLuv Premium and even Andy’s latest IM Graphics plugin. The reason for my success with these two plugins is getting in early and being able to offer them at a discounted price. I’m sure that those who purchased the plugins from me in the early days also offered it to their readers thereby recouping their costs and perhaps even making a profit.

Just so you know those images you see in this post are all thanks to Andy’s latest updates to his IM Graphics plugin and if you act quickly you may still get it at the introductory price. My last post not only explains how it works it also shows you.

So, if you can find out who your audience is you will have a better idea at what products you can market to them Having a niche blog makes the job a lot easier but niche blogs can be boring resulting in poor posts and therefore poor conversions.

The question for many of us is how do you work out who your audience is? The obvious answer is by interacting with your commentators. I’m afraid that alone may not be enough and so I ask you, my loyal and knowledgable readers, how to we learn what category or people are reading our blogs so we can successfully market to them?

Andy’s IM Graphics Plugin Review

I have gotten a lot of emails from people who say that although they love the FlexSqueeze theme the fact that they’ve just purchased a professional theme of their own prevents them from outlaying anymore money on another one. Even so they wish their theme had the ability to incorporate professionally designed images right into their posts or sales / landing pages and, pretty please, is there a plugin or something that would allow them to have at least that portion of flexibility that FlexSqueeze has. Unfortunately I’ve had to disappoint them all by answering in the negative, until now.

Rather than emailing them all with the good news, an impossible feat as I’ve deleted most of their emails, I though the next best thing is to write a post about a plugin I’ve just purchased that will allow them to do just that. Why buy it when FlexSqueeze already has the feature built in? Well two reasons really, the first being I had to get my hands on it to give it a proper review and the second is that I got it at a really good price and you can too if you act quickly!

Is The IM Graphics Plugin For You?

Before I tell you about the IM Graphics plugin I want you to know that the person behind this plugin in none other than Andy Bailey the man behind the CommentLuv plugin and so you can be assured of it’s quality and know that Andy is always there to help when and if it is needed.

In case you’re not aware the IM part stands for Internet Marketers and this plugins is best suited for those of you who are planning to sell stuff on the net. Where most people go wrong when designing their landing pages or writing posts with the intent to sell is that the end result looks so unprofessional and that alone may be the reason why their conversion rates are so low. The problem is that they don’t have the resources to pay for the images required nor the graphical expertise to design their own and that’s where Andy’s IM Graphics Plugin comes in.

I just entered that image with two clicks of the mouse and it’s these sorts of images that will attract peoples attention and help them to focus on what you’re saying. Now I

I’m not kidding, you have less than a week to get this plugin at the ridiculously low price of $27. That’s a whole lot better than having to pay $97 which is what the plugin will cost you if you miss out on this great deal. I know how many people are kicking themselves today because they missed out on getting the premium CommentLuv plugin and the special price and ended up paying full tote odds for it!

The Price Includes Professional Images

That’s right, not only do you get the plugin for 27 bucks, Andy has also thrown in a whole pile of quality images to get you going. Watch my video just to get an inkling of some of the images included or follow the link to he IM Graphics plugin page to get an even better idea. The best thing is that you also get the PSD images which will allow you to edit them with complete ease with PhotoShop.

Having said that, I wanted access to even more images and so I paid $49 to get my hands on the Ultimate Squeeze Page Vector Pack which gives me over 250 images

which are also completely editable. Have you ever noticed when you try to enlarge and image or manipulate it in some way how the quality deteriorates dramatically? Well it won’t happen with vector graphics! Like the page says “The Vector Graphics Pack not only contains the layered vector files for each image, but it also contains a fully commented HTML file with all the HTML and CSS needed to quickly create your own professional squeeze pages. Simply copy and paste the code into your sales page and add your content!” This means that even if you’re not a FlexSqueeze owner, if you have access to a HTML editor then there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to creat your own sales page.

Anyway, I’ve uploaded those files to the plugins image directory so I can show you how it easily manages all your file directories of images.

If there is anything lacking it would be this. Andy, if you’re reading this it would be great if you could incorporate the facility to add a link to an image so that it would link to the product or whatever is being offered. Until then if anyone needs help with doing it manually I’ve included it in my video.

As far as ratings go I give the IM Graphics plugin a rating of 4 out of 5 stars. If Andy was to include that nifty little feature then I would gladly change it to a 5 star rating.As to the graphics pack, that’s a great deal having it included with the plugin but I wanted something more and so I bought the Ultimate Squeeze Page Vector Pack and it’s great that the plugin allowed me to incorporate those images into it.

This Has To Be The Best WordPress Comment System

I know there are a lot of people out there who are looking for that special WordPress comment system, one that will make their blog stand out from the rest. I know this because the post I wrote, What Is The Best Comment System For WordPress Blogs, generated a lot of interest, both in comments and in the amount of traffic it gets from the search engines. In that post and in others I’ve always maintained that the default system is the best and I’ve always bagged other comment systems like Disqus, Livefyre and Intense Debate, until now!

The biggest negative those other comment systems have is the extra hoops they put their commentators through just to leave a comment. This one bad point so outweighs any positive features that it’s pointless installing them. I know bloggers who use them will swear by them but if they’re that good why do most of them revert to the default system?

And The Best WordPress Comment System Is?

If you’re going to install any plugin you want to ensure there are benefits to either you or your commentators. If it’s beneficial to both of you then you’re on a real winner. This is especially true when it comes to your comment system as it plays such an integral part to a your blog. Considering its importance I thought I would never install a new comment system as I didn’t think you could improve perfection. How wrong I was!

From all the emails I’ve been getting I know that many of you have noticed something different about the comment system I’m no using. Well, you can stop tearing your hair out because this post will finally reveal all. You’re going to want to read it because without the knowledge contained within you’ll find it extremely difficult to find the right one.

I’ll give you a tip though, it was developed by MailChimp! Yep, the one I use as my autoresponder. I believe this to be important because as a well renowned company they’re not going to put their name on an inferior product. You’ll see their logo on the setup page so it also acts as a great advertisement. I’ve put a bit of a video together for you so I can show you how good this comment system really is.

As you can see I haven’t gone all out in the video as I like to keep my videos short and simple. The video shows you how the comment system works and also how to get the plugin via your WordPress dashboard. If you want a more detailed video as well as a more in depth review you should head on over to Kimberly’s blog and read her post WP Social Plugin For WordPress. If it wasn’t for this post who knows how long before I would, if at all, come across this rather unique comment system. Yep, I continue to call it that even though the guys who put it together refer to it as a Social plugin.

Kimberly has run a few tests and has found it to be compatible with Commentluv, Commentluv Premium, ReplyMe, KeywordLuv/KeywordName and Subscribe To Comments. Unfortunately it doesn’t work with my Smiley plugin which is cool as I’ve found another to take it’s place.

You should also note that your comments will no longer be displayed in the way you were used to as Social uses it’s own method of displaying comments, one that I am pretty happy with. Another positive aspect of this plugin is that you can set it to automatically Tweet your post as well as posting an excerpt to your FaceBook once you have published your post. That’s great for people like me who constantly forget to ~~market~~ promote their posts.

Finally, A Plugin That Improves The Quality Of Your Comments

It looks like Andy Bailey has been at it again. For those of you who are new to blogging Andy Bailey is the wonder behind the Commentluv plugin, a plugin that is so popular hundreds of thousands of bloggers use it. Something else you may not know is that Andy recently released the CommentLuv Premium version. Being a premium version Andy has filled it with heaps of extras to make it worth the price.

I’m not going to go through all of the plugin’s attributes because I’ve already listed them in my post CommentLuv Premium Adding To Revenue Stream. What’s that, how can it add to your revenue stream? Quite simple really as it is a lot easier to sell something to your reader if they see that you’re actually using the product yourself.

CommentLuv Now Improving Your Comments

The thing with Andy is that he is never satisfied with the end product and he is always tinkering with it to make it better. When developing the premium version of the plugin he wanted to ensure that it rewarded the blogger as well as the commentator. With his latest update Andy’s revamped the GASP portion of the plugin.

For those of you who don’t know GASP helps reduce your comment spam as it virtually kills off all robot spam. With this latest update it

now also helps to reduce the human spam. Here is the plugin’s extra feature;

You had some more options added to GASP to allow more advanced heuristics. You can now specify the minimum amount of words

required in a comment and the minimum time a user has to be on the page before leaving a comment. You can also set GASP to warn the user why their comment is not being accepted. You will also have to enter your username and password again to activate this new version (for security reasons). You can also show icons next to the last blog post link if the user clicked any of the social enticement buttons. I know there are a lot of bloggers out there who do not use plugin because they’re afraid that it will attract too many spam comments to their blog as people try to get that extra link back to their sites. Well, that may be true for the original plugin, it’s definitely not true for the premium version, especially not now.

Think about it! What is the most common spam comment you get? It’s the nice post or some other generic comment that is quick and easy to leave and adds nothing of value to your post. I can now set the plugin so that they now have to sit and think about what they’re writing if they want their comment to be accepted.

The other common mistake that spammers make is not reading your post. They now have to spend a predetermined time on the post before their comment is accepted. Heck, if they have to do that they may as well read the post

Of course there will be many who won’t want to take that extra time or put in the extra effort to leave a good comment and so they will just move on to the next blog, hopefully not a CommentLuv Premium blog , but so what? You don’t want those sorts of comments and by moving on they’re just saving you the time of having to delete it or worse still, stressing over whether or not you should delete it.

So, there you have it, CommentLuv Premium can now improve the type of comments you get.

A Recap Of 2011 And Best Wishes For 2012

The year is almost up and I feel it’s time for a little reflection on all that has transpired over the last 365 days. I started the year with my post Are Your Goals For 2011 Achievable?, the first of 115 posts for the year. That particular post outlined why I believed so many people were failing in their objectives to making an online income and what they should do to maximize their online income potential.

I don’t think anyone would argue that one of the reasons WordPress is a popular blogging platform is because of all the hard work those remarkable guys put into developing plugins that not only make our life as bloggers easier but also help us to add to out blogging income.

Put A Firewall Up To Protect Your Blog introduced you guys to another essential plugin, one that secures your blog. That post also outlines why I felt I had to have that plugin.
Five Best WordPress Plugins For Affiliate Marketers lists what I believe to be 5 essential plugins for anyone wanting to be successful in affiliate marketing.
Making Money With Amazon Is It Possible introduced my readers to a free plugin that would increase their Amazon revenue.

OK, there were other plugins mentioned throughout the year, including several posts on CommentLuv Premium but I reckon those were the main ones. I also expect there to be more next year as I come across other interesting plugins. The problem I will come across then will be which plugins to let go.

How I Made Money In 2011

As my regulars know, I’m the type of blogger that loves to share with his readers my experiences, both good and bad, with online money making ventures.There have been several throughout the year of which these are just a few.

What Affiliates To Promote To Blog For Money gives you those affiliates that I promote successfully on this as well as some of my other blogs.
Put Money In Your Pocket And Generate Traffic For Your Blog introduced you all to Zaparena but unfortunately that particular site, as outlined in this post, is no more.
Be Prepared To Spend Money To Make Money pretty well outlines how it wasn’t until I started investing in my online business that I actually started making money from the products I was promoting.

Naturally there was a lot of other posts, 114 to be exact, that I could link to but that would be a little over the top. Suffice it to say that they covered everything from jokes, poems, inspirational posts to ways of making money online. I’m sure that my topics are so varied that I have managed to secure a dedicated following as well as why my list membership continues to grow.

I’ve also produced more YouTube videos and I’m planning to utilise YouTube as another avenue for making money in 2012. Speaking of YouTube I would really appreciate if you could take the time to give this particular video a little plug, naturally only if you think it is worth it.

All in all I am more than happy with the way things have gone this year, especially with my latest venture, Buy Online Lottery Tickets, and I look forward to 2012 as being a year that holds many possibilities. Of course things will be really different if I win one of the lotteries outlined in this post. I thought what better way to start off the new year than by winning some money which is why I purchased a ticket from a Brazilian, Spanish and Aussie lottery. The size of the jackpot didn’t interest me as much as the fact that they will all be drawn on December 31st.

As this will be the last post for the year I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and that all your wishes and plans for 2012 come to fruition.

Also, if you’re going to leave a comment I hope it has some content and is more than just good post or Happy New Year as these will just be deleted.

How To Really Improve Your Bounce Rates

First off I want to give credit where credit is due and in this case it goes to a post my mate Mitch wrote called Too Many Tags And Categories? That particular post, one that I recommend you read, refers to a blog Mitch had read where the blogger claims to have reduced his bounce rate to 2% The thing about that bloggers post that caught Mitch’s attention was when the blogger mentioned that smaller tags and tag clouds were beneficial because it allowed the reader to focus on what the blog is really about. I’m assuming that having a huge amount of tags would confuse the reader causing him to leave without searching any further.

Will Tags Decrease Your Bounce Rate?

The question is whether or not having a tag cloud decreases your bounce rate? Personally I feel that they are next to useless and the space would be better used for something else. I know that I have one on my Buy Lottery Tickets Online site but that’s only because I like the way it behaves more than anything else.

The only way to get a true result to that question is to run this poll. As you well know the more people that take part in any given poll the more accurate the result and so I urge you to get the word out.

How To Improve Your Bounce Rate

So, how do you improve your bounce rate? First let’s say that the way the bounce rate of any given site is calculated is related to the amount of time someone spends on your blog and whether or not they choose to explore it by reading some of your other posts.

Select Your Keywords Carefully: Sure I said that tag clouds were next to useless but let’s not forget that the real reason for choosing your ~~tags~~ keywords carefully is for their SEO benefit. Keywords are one of the best ways of letting the search engine know what you’re writing about. Therefore you want to make sure that you select keywords that relate exactly to what you’re writing about otherwise people will be bouncing like crazy.
Great Content:This is a no brainer and I’m going to include good grammar, introduction and heading in this point. Get all them right and people will take the time to read your post increasing the time on your blog and decreasing your bounce rate. Who knows, they may even want to look around your blog to see what other gems you have to offer.
Interlinking Great For SEO:You may have read before how linking between your posts is great for SEO, well that’s not all as it’s also great for reducing your bounce rate, especially if you’re linking to related content. Sure there are plugins that will do this for you but they normally appear at the end of the post but it’s so much better to do it from within the post itself as it’s more likely to grab their attention.
Related Posts Plugin:Sometimes you may find it a bit difficult to link from within a post and that is when a related post plugin will help. I usually use Microkid’s Related Posts plugin as it allows me to search for the right posts to link to. I am however trialling nrelate Related Plugin as it has some unique qualities which I will touch on later in this post.
Open Links In Another Page:I’ve read some posts that actually recommend the opposite but that never made sense to me. They reckon if you do that it records another visit when they return to your blog. The question is, will they return to your blog? That’s an awful big chance you’re taking if you go that route. It’s so much better to open all links in another page.
Entice Your Readers To Comment:This is important for many reasons. The most important reason is it makes your posts more interactive but just as important is that if they’re going to take the time to comment they will inadvertently stay on your blog longer improving your bounce rate. You could also go the extra mile by using a plugin that allows them to edit comments because there are a lot of people who take pride in their comments and will take the time and appreciate the opportunity to fix any mistakes.
Make Good Use Of YouTube:If you can find a video that adds to your content then I recommend you include it in a post. If you can’t find one then that’s good too because it gives you the opportunity to make your own video, one that others may find useful enough to include in their posts. Whenever I include a video I will use the ‘more’ tag so that it’s not displayed on the front page so as to not slow down the page load speed.

nrelate Related Plugin

I only learned of this plugin yesterday when I was contacted by someone affiliated with it. I have to admit that I wasn’t all that interested because I already have a related post plugin, but I thought I would do the right thing and give it a try. I must say I am impressed, so much so that I’m going to keep them both. Here’s a few reasons why I like it.

Upon installing the plugin will take a couple of hours before appearing as it indexes your blog so that it has more of an idea when searching for related posts.
It uses thumbnails to link to your related posts. Everyone knows that people are more likely to click on an interesting image than just a boring old link so to me this is a big plus. It pulls the image from the post and if the post does not have an image it will use a default one that you can upload. I’m thinking of making a Sire recommends this post image using cleavage to get their intention
Once installed it finds related posts for all your posts unlike Microkids which only works on those posts where you remembered to use it. There are so many posts where I’ve forgotten to make use of it resulting in lost potential.
Another cool feature is you can configure it to search your blogroll for related content. This is great for those who have more than one blog or have the tendency to link to certain blogs in their blogroll.
It’s very configurable including giving you the opportunity to make money by availing yourself of their advertiser network. You can see the plugin in action at the end of this and every post on this blog. The thumbnails appear after the ‘You may also like -‘, also totally configurable. The fourth thumbnail is the one belonging to the advertiser. Naturally if you don’t want to use this feature you don’t have to.

Why I Bought The Ajax Edit Comment Plugin

G’day guys! welcome back to WassupBlog. This post is all about introducing you to the paid version of Ajax Edit Comments. Many of you have probably come across this plugin in your travels and I’m sure you appreciate how it allows you the opportunity to correct your comment once you’ve published it. In my last post I told everyone how you have to be prepared to Be Prepared To Spend Money To Make Money. Most of you would agree that the best way to make money pushing any particular affiliate is if you actually own or have tried the product. This is because people are more likely to believe what you have to say if they see you suing the product. There is no point me trying to sell a MacBook Air to someone if they see me using a PC! If on the other hand they see me using a MacBook Air and I can demonstrate to them all the features it has they are more likely to buy one from me.

The products that I actively promote on this blog are products that I use, such as my theme, Market Samurai as well as other products. This is and always will remain a DoFollow blog and you won’t have to do anything extra to get a DoFollow link
KeyWord Name is still enabled without having to do anything extra to use it

So, you see, the only thing that has changed is you can’t choose from your last 10 posts anymore as it will only display your last post. However, if you feel that any post is good enough for a Tweet or something, selecting that option will free up all 10 posts. I know that a lot of the time people mean to give the post a tweet but forget to do so, I’ve done that myself on many an occasion. This will act as a little reminder. If you don’t feel it is good enough then don’t! You still get all the other benefits.
