I’ve got to admit I’ve always been a gadget man because I love having technological stuff around me. When the digital watches first came into being I just had to have me one and from memory the first ever digital watch I bought was a Casio. Since then I’ve always owned a digital watch and the more technical they were the better.

I’ve had calculator watches and one that kept track of phone numbers and personal details. Heck, my latest digital watch doubles as a TV / Video remote control. Man, I love this watch partly because it’s so useful and partly because it’s a great conversation starter, not to mention that it allows me to play practical jokes on people. I had heaps of fun at work changing the stations, adjusting the volume and turning the TV on and off at work. You should have seen the look on the face of the person who was actually holding the TV remote

However, as much as I love my digital watch I also have a gold Seiko watch because there’s many a time when a cheap digital watch just won’t do. For one thing they’re pretty lousy as a dress watch and they’re not about to impress the ladies much either.

I know that most people use their cell phones as time pieces but I could never understand why. It’s so much easier to look at your wrist watch than it is to fish out a mobile phone. Heck, if I’m with a group of people I’m always the first one to provide the time when someone asks for it, the others haven’t even had the time to take their phones out of their pocket. And if you’re a women, by the time you find your phone in that bag full of crap, well forget about it, the time’s already passed.

As for what type of watch I would like to have it wouldn’t be a Rolex, not unless I had money to burn that is! Nope. I reckon a Bulova Precisionist Watches would be more my style. I kinda like those watches with all the dials, similar to the one in the photo on the right.

I’ve actually found that dress watches also make great gifts and have always bought one for those special occasions such as graduations and those important birthdays like a 21st or something. The reason for this is because I’ve found that a good watch will always hold some form of sentimental value, especially if you have it engraved, and every time the person looks at it they’ll remember the person who gave it to them. Heck, do you remember when I mentioned my Seiko, well my wife gave me that when we got engaged and it is my most precious gift.

One of the main advantages of having access to the Internet has always been the ability to search online for products and services. It also allows us to buy and sell things online whereas before we were limited to printed media or having to place ads on local bulletin board.

The obvious advantage of going online, whether to buy or sell products, is twofold. The first is that you instantly get access to a huge market and the second is its so easy get or find you product or service online. As an example lets look at selling your car online. In the old days of being restricted purely to news papers and such you were very limited to the amount of information in your ad because they would charge you per word and forget using a photo as that alone would cost you an arm and a leg. Sure you could place an ad on the local bulletin board that could include a photo and as much text as you like but then you’re limiting yourself to local passerby therefore limiting your market.

So in reality, even though it wasn’t all that cost effective, your best option used to be the various print media and they used to be great in their day but unfortunately do not have as wide a distribution as what’s available online.

So, let’s say you want to sell your car online the question is How to sell your car online? Naturally that would depend on what site you choose to sell your car. The one I’m using as an example in this post is an English company and I’m using them as their method of selling your car is rather unique. You start off by entering you car registration, if you don’t have one you simply give them a description of the car. Once they have your rego it enters their database and within moments you get an offer! I found that you can get an instant offer online for car pretty amazing

If you accept their offer they will transfer the money to your account and the car remains in your possession until you have received confirmation from you bank that the money has been deposited. Once you’re happy that the money is where you want it you just tell them where to pick up the car, whether at home or work and they will pick your car up for free.

I found that you could sell your car online, without even having to place an ad, pretty bloody amazing.

So, tell me, have you ever seen such a service before. Have you ever sold a car online and if so what was your experience. For my non English readers, does such an online service exist in your country. If you having anything to ad please feel free to leave a comment.

OK, I’ve been getting a whole lot of email since the post I did called Buying Eyeglasses Online Can Save You Heaps asking me if I had ever bought eyeglasses from Zenni and I have to in all honesty say that I haven’t but only because I had just recently spent over $500 for a pair of prescription sunglasses as well as my normal glasses. Why two sets? Well, basically because they were offering a buy one get one free deal so I thought what the heck as long as they’re going to throw one in for free. Too bad really, because I could have saved a packet if I had at least tried Zenni out.

Why Are Zenni So Cheap?

This is something I’ve asked myself before and the only reason I could come up with is because they cut out the middle man. I did manage to find this bit of information though;

Using the latest modern materials, manufacturing and marketing systems we bring our product direct from our factories to you. No middlemen, no retail overhead, and practically no advertising budget,(we leave it to you, our satisfied customers to spread the word), we do not pay for or sell expensive, or even inexpensive, brand names, but only our own manufactured brand ZENNI. Eyeglasses are definitely a personal fashion and style item, and to that end we strive to provide a fashionable and stylish product. More importantly, we feel prescription eyeglasses are a health item necessity for most wearers, and to that end we take considerable pride in being able to bring to all a very high quality product of great durability, safety and comfort at truly reasonable and affordable prices.

It just goes to show that Word Of Mouth Is A Very Powerful Advertising Weapon! As true as that is word of mouth only works if you have a product that is so good others are willing to their friends what a great experience they had from either buying a product or using a service.

As bloggers we all know how hard it is to get to where we want to be and then once we’re there how hard it is to stay there. That is true for any online company which is why Zenni would have to constantly reinvent their eyeglasses design so they can maintain a hold on their market. Apparently, being the holiday season and all the guys at Zenni have release some Holiday Themed Zenni Optical Frames!

I’ve included just two of over 3000 prescription glasses that you can choose from online. Heck, if you have some time to kill you may as well check out their range, even if you’re not ready to buy any just yet and just for the fun of it why not let us know which one is your favourite by leaving a comment.

Would I purchase glasses from them? At those prices I would definitely give them a shot but that won’t be for a couple of years yet. Tell you what though, if the guys down there are willing to give me a free pair just so I can tell you of my actual experience with them I will certainly take them up on it.

Having only just bought my glasses I can only imagine the gifts I could have bought for the loved ones. Man, I could even have gone to a well deserved weekend away with the family. Now that would really be something.

I have worn glasses for some 34 years but in reality I’ve probably needed them for over 40 years, so why didn’t I get them earlier? Because glasses in those days were damn ugly and I didn’t wanted to be taunted by my peers by being called four eyes and other derogatory names. I remember memorizing the letters in the eye chart ensuring that I would get enough right so as to not have to wear glasses.

I always made sure that I sat at the very front of the class just to make sure that I could read the blackboard. It was until I went to teachers college and I found I could not get close enough to see the board that I decided to get my first eyeglasses and even then they were not the best but necessity finally overcame vanity.

Over the years eyeglasses have become a lot more fashionable but for the main they have remained fairly expensive unless you wanted to buy those cheap ugly ones that are so bad you wouldn’t even wear them on Halloween. Most of the expense come about when you buy brand name eyeglasses which can cost you an absolute fortune. I remember that the glasses I purchased before the one I am wearing now cost me close to $700! This time around I bought prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses for under $500. That is a huge savings. Then I find out that you can go online to sites such as Zenni Optical for way, way less than that.

Apparently these guys can offer eyeglasses at such a low price because rather than offer branded names or other expensive brands is because they only sell their own manufactured brand ZENNI Eyeglasses. Now I’m sure that these guys realize people want to look great whilst wearing eyeglasses and to achieve that end they would have a large range of styles for their customers to choose from. I hope those guys don’t mind but I linked to this image just to show you one of many designs they have on offer. What really shocked me was that they were under $10 and that I could click on a button and it see what it would look like on an online image.

Anyway, all I’m saying is that if you’re in the market for eyeglasses you may want to go online to see hat’s on offer and see exactly how much you can save. Take note though that as these are prescription eyeglasses you will need to have your prescription handy to ensure you get the right ones.

As I have never purchased eyeglasses online before I would really be interested to hear from anyone who has.

OK, maybe we did have those opportunities but it wasn’t so easily available as it is today. Take for example photo developing. In the old days we used to snap a whole lot of photos not even sure until after we got them developed if they turned out or not. Today we take them with our digital cameras and we can see instantly how they’re going to turn out.

Now many of us will print those photos at home not realizing that most of the time they will fade with age because our equipment is no where as sophisticated as the professionals. Then of course there may come a time when we want custom posters, perhaps of a landscape that we particularly love or even of that special holiday snapshot that we want to blow up and place on a feature wall.

These days all you have to do is upload your photo of choice to an online poster printing site and wait for them to complete your job. There are probably a lot of sites that can do this for you but I’m sure that not all of them display their custom poster printing jobs online for their potential customers to see. I’m not even sure if they all offer an overnight poster printing service or a 100% guarantee that they will print the poster to your satisfaction or refund your money.

I have to completely honest with you, I haven’t tried PosterBrain yet but when the time comes and I need some posters done I’ll be sure to give them a try.

It doesn’t matter where you look on the Net these days almost everyone is trying to get your attention in the hope that they can sell you something. More often than not you will land on a site that promises you the world, saying if you subscribe to them or purchase their product you never have to worry about money again. Yeah, right I learned many years ago from my parents that it doesn’t matter how much money you make, it’s all wasted if you do not know how save. Those who learn how to save their money are the ones that manage to put money away for their retirement or even to invest in their future. Others for some reason have no idea how to save money and even when they get a raise or come across some spare cash they manage to spirit it all away.

Our current economic situation is putting a lot of pressure on everyone but if they merely changed the way they do things they could do a lot better with what they have and possibly even save enough to put it away for a rainy day. Here are a few tips on how to save money.

Tips On How To Save Money

Don’t Follow Trends: Honestly, do you have to have the latest mobile phone or gadget just because someone you know has bought one. I never buy anything new unless whatever I’m using has broken down and that has probably saved me thousands of dollars.

Pay Only For What You Need: When buying anything from a toaster to a car don’t be sucked in by all the bells and whistles that you will probably never need. The more accessories something has the more it’s going to cost you and if you’re not really going to use it all you’re really going to do is throw your money away.

Shop Around: Never every buy the first thing you see in the first store that you walk into. You could be paying top dollar when another store may be offering the same product for a whole lot less.

Go Online:Shopping online can save you heaps of money. You’ve probably heard of Clark Howard who happens to be a money expert who advises people how to save money. His latest book, “Living Large in Lean Times” talks about many ways of saving money, including buying your prescription sunglasses online! He knows doing so will save people a whole heap of money. I even watched a CNN video where he gave Zenni Optical the thumbs as he knew how much money a person could save by utilizing their services

Ask For Discount: Honestly, how hard is it to ask someone, ‘Is that the best you can do?’ It doesn’t hurt to ask for discount, the worst thing that could happen is that they will say no. On the other hand they could say yes and you will come away with extra money in your pocket.

I could go on and on but I am sure you understand what I’m getting at. It’s all about getting the biggest bang out of every dollar you earn. If you were to work out how much money you actually saved by watching how you spend your money and if you put that money away instead of spending it your account would have loads of money instead of always being empty. Over time you can make that money work for you.

Having our website or blog hacked by some lowlife scum would have to be one of our greatest fears. There are many ways that they could do this including placing malicious code on the blog, linking to sites of disrepute or horror of horrors corrupting the database causing us to lose everything. All that hard work gone to waste! There is something that is so much worse though and unfortunately the Internet has increased this problem astronomically. Of course I am talking about identity theft and this problem is so huge that an industry has grown around identity theft protection. While I’ve talked so much about this on one of my other blogs those posts can only serve as a warning to others. Unfortunately warnings may not be enough and perhaps for some people it would probably be best to be more proactive by taking advantage of sites such as IdentityHawk. Almost anyone is at risk of identity theft especially those who spend a lot of time on the internet. Unfortunately for the average person you have no way of knowing if you have been compromised until its too late. According to the guys at IdentityHawk they offer service that differs from others in that where others inform you after you’ve been targeted they can prevent it from ever happening. There are certain things that you can do to prevent identity theft and these include.

Do not throw anything in the bin that has personal information, especially things like bank statements and bills etc. Paper shredders are quite cheap these days and having one would be a great investment.

Do not give any personal information over the phone. There are many scam artists out there pretending to be someone they’re not just to trick you into telling them your details.

Make sure when using ATM machines that no-one is looking over your shoulders.

Do not sell or give away your old computer before wiping everything on it.

Do not fall prey to emails that tell you some account or other has been compromised and that you have to log on via the link in the email to confirm your details. These emails are known as phishing emails and their purpose is to solicit your personal information from you.

There are a lot of things that you can and should do to protect your identity, both online and offline and I would love it if you would share with us some of the steps you have taken to protect your identity!

If I was to ask you what the one thing was that every webmaster or blogger craved for I wonder what your answer would be. WOW! You won’t believe this but I just had this mental image of a whole lot of you screaming “Money! We want to line our pockets with money!” I have to admit I understand where you’re coming from, but you all know that’s not going to happen unless you have a whole heap of traffic. It doesn’t matter how good your blog or website is, without traffic its lying dead in the water, or in this case, cyberspace.

So, where do we get this traffic from? Well, when you consider that almost 80% of surfers use one of the major search engines to find what their looking for, the main one being Google, then it’s obvious that you want to achieve top google rankings, and by top I mean you want your site to be in the top ten because that’s where most people commence their search from.

The problem that most people have is they don’t know how to achieve this, a task which is made all the more difficult by the search engines changing algorithm. What they need is a SEO company that will do all the work for them. Now there are a lot out there that will beat their chest saying to the world that they offer the best SEM services (Search Engine Marketing) out there so it’s no easy task to find the right one for you. But then we all know that life was not meant to be easy so it will be up to you to do the research.

You can ask around to see what SEO companies other webmasters or bloggers are using, and you can also use the search engines to see who they recommend. Once you’ve narrowed it down to a select few you will need to have a chat with them and it’s then that you need to ask all the right questions. John F Kennedy once said “ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.” Well in this case you need to ask the particular SEO firm what they can do for you. It may even include the construction of some Ecommerce website design or something entirely different. You will certainly want to ask how they intend to get you in the top 10 of the search engines and you may even request that apart from your main site you also want your FaceBook Fan page and YouTube videos to appear there. Why not, the more exposure you get on the first page of Google the better, right?

You may even ask to see some of the work they’ve done for other clients and if they are as good as they say they will be more than happy to accommodate you. As always doing the homework fist will ensure that you make the right choice and making the right choice is the first step on your path to lining those pockets of yours with cash.

One of the many good things about the Internet is that, sometimes with a little bit of effort, you can find almost anything you’re looking for. Just say for example you were a little tired of some of your furniture, because you felt it no longer suited your decor. I mean we’ve all been to other people’s homes and have seen furniture that just didn’t fit. Maybe it’s the style, or perhaps it’s just the color.

What if you like quality wooden furniture but you don’t like the natural timber colors because it just doesn’t fit in. Do you give up? Nope, you go to the Internet and you do a search, let’s say for White Painted Furniture.

OK, we forget about the first two results because they’re paid adverts, and the next one is useless to us because we don’t want to paint what we have, we want new quality furniture. That leaves us with newenglandlifestyle.com, so we click on that link and where does it take us?

We land on a professionally designed website professing to offer their potential customers an exclusive range of white painted wood furniture. Exactly what we were looking for but this stuff is inspired by New England and designed in West Sussex, UK. Sounds even better doesn’t it.

So you do a little exploring and you find they do actually have some exquisite pieces of furniture, everything from white living room furniture to white tables. They even have traditional oak furniture. So you start to get a little excited until you find out that it’s based in England, and you figure damn, I don’t think they’re going to ship it to Australia. Oh well, there’s one consolation I suppose, at least those Yanks are going to miss out as well.

As bloggers we hear quite a bit about marketing strategies, largely because most bloggers have something to market, if not their blog then it’s a product, an affiliate or even a service. As you would know there are many ways that people may use to get their product or service where it can be seen by others in the hope that they will eventually become customers.

Just the other day I was approached by a charming Aussie lass who asked if I would kindly help to promote her very unique marketing strategy. Seeing as how I’m not one to turn a pretty lady down I surprised myself by saying I would but only after I had a look at what she was offering. She kindly pointed me in the right direction and after giving it the once over I decided that I would succumb to her charms, and it’s to this end that I offer you, what I believe to be a very interesting sponsored post.

Are you considering using discount marketing as part of your business’s advertising strategy?

You must ensure that this form of promotional marketing is appropriate for your business’s brand image. It is also vital to plan whether your business can withstand the costs of this venture.

Any business considering a discount marketing strategy should take these tips into account.

1. Market a discount as another form of advertising.

Consider what incentive will work best for your particular consumer base: discount coupons, contests or free samples. Choose an advertising vehicle like direct mail, email or in-store that will not exceed your promotional budget.

2. Offer only what your business can afford.

Determine your reason for promotion and consider if you planning to discount an item as a loss leader to gain a larger consumer base. Ensure that you set your budget early on.

3. Set the target market.

By knowing exactly who your customers are, you can maintain control by offering an appropriate discount. You must know where and when your consumers will use your discount.

4. Ensure that all ground staff are aware of the discount!

Consumers will have an extremely negative experience if your staff doesn’t know what’s going on. This will turn them off your business. Ensure that staff also knows about the exact terms of expiry for your discount.

5. Keep testing!

Set specific goals and keep track of the feedback you are getting from your discount. If it is unsatisfactory, the discount is either not attractive enough or it is improperly targeting the consumer base.

“To learn more about local business marketing to sign up to Myzerr.com and start promoting your business online today!”
