Choose A Professional Theme

When blogging for money the most important item on your list should be a professional theme because like it or not they're going to judge you on how your blog looks. If you're like me you will want a theme that not only looks good it has to be easy to use as well.

Making Money With Amazon

The reason many people join Amazon as an affiliate is because of the range of products they have available for sale. My tool of choice as an Amazon affiliate would have to be WPZon Builder!

The post Why I Love WP Zon Builder gives you a sample of what this exceptional plugin is capable of. In short the main positives would have to be the ease of use and the ability to import the customer reviews into your post.

Choosing The Right Affiliate

Most people who make money online have hit on the right affiliate to promote. This particular Post will direct you to other posts that highlight some of the ways that I have made money online!

They also say the secret to making money online is choosing the right niche. One of the niches I've chosen to add to my online income has to do with the growing Online Lottery industry.

Learning How To Use Market Samurai

This is just going to be a short post about how far I’ve gotten with Market Samurai. Let’s just say that the answer to that is not very far, I’ve yet to fire it up, because I’ve been swamped with other things. Still having said that I have taken a bit of time to visit the Samurai Dojo.

The Dojo is the training facility where you learn all about keyword research and how to use Market Samurai. Not being the most technically minded person I’m happy to say they keep it very simple. Although they have instructional videos I much prefer to use the written video transcripts as it allows me to absorb it in my own time.

I just want to share with you something that I feel is very important when marketing your niche.

Do You Know Your Niche’s Language?

I think this is very important because the knowledge may help you to target your niche with greater success than your competitors. In the dojo they used three examples, weddings, World Of Warcraft and golf citing words that others would not normally use but would be significant to those searching for products in those niches.

Let’s use our own example to illustrate the point. Let’s say that we had a niche site that sold mag wheels. I’d say that most people would use mag wheels, hot mag wheels or sporty mag wheels as their keywords. I think it’s safe to say that Mag Wheels as a keyword would be one that most people would use and so it would be pretty hard to rank on the first page of search engines for that term. Well what if you were to use fully sic wheels? Not one of the results on the first page were from anyone using this combination of words as their keywords. So if you were to target those words it wouldn’t be relatively easy to get on the top 10!

Of course the question one has to ask is how many people would use that combination of words because it’s also important to target words that people will use because that’s the only way to get traffic.

So, for all of those of you with niche blogs, have you considered your niche’s particular language?

Testing Market Samurai’s Keyword Research Tool

There has been a particular product that I’ve seen a lot of reviews about all over the net, and I wouldn’t be in the least surprised if you’ve seen them as well. I’m talking about Market Samurai and yes that is an affiliate link that will allow you to download a free copy so you can test it for yourself.

So, even though I’ve been hearing for ages about how all ‘these first-time internet marketing “newbies” who have been using this TOP SECRET Market Samurai software to easily capture front-page rankings, traffic and sales in their first few weeks online’, why have I waited until now to purchase the software?

Well you see things are finally starting to change around here. By the end of next week I will be out of work, after being self employed for some thirty odd years. While I’m not going into details, let’s just say that the payout figure was nowhere near what I needed to retire, and while I will be taking some time off for a long deserved rest I will need to find another source of income, and I figured why not blogging?

You guys all know how, although I’ve always known about the importance of keyword research I’ve never really applied it because I believed it would spoil my blogging experience. Well what if Market Samurai can do all the hard work for me, then I would have the best of both worlds.

You may be wondering why I purchased it rather than just trialling it for seven days. Well for one thing I’m still working and I knew I didn’t have time to run it through it’s paces and the other thing is that I didn’t want to miss out on the 35% savings for getting in early. If I let the trial expire I would have paid $149 instead of $97. The other reason is that to be an affiliate you have to own the software first, and I figured why take the chance of lost sales just for the sake of a few lousy bucks.

In case you haven’t heard of Market Samurai, it’s a keyword research tool that promises the following.

  • TOP RANKINGS in Search Engines
  • Finds the most PROFITABLE KEYWORDS
  • It will show you what it will take to DOMINATE YOUR COMPETITORS…

And believe me the Internet being the size that it is there’s a whole lot of competition out there so it’s a good idea to get the edge on them whenever you can. If you’re interested in future updates you may want to subscribe to the blog. Better still why not take the free trial and join me in the journey to what I hope will be financial freedom.

Sharing Something Unique About Where You Live

Hands up all those of you who haven’t been affected by blogging in one way or another? I’m willing to bet that there are quite a lot of you out there who, like myself, originally took up blogging as a way of making money, or of promoting one site or another, but have now fallen in love with it. I have to admit that no matter what I’m doing blogging is lurking somewhere in the thought processes of my mind.

Honestly there are even times when while making love to my wife a blog post suddenly pops into my head and it’s all I can do to stop myself from climbing off of her and rushing to the computer so I can write up a new post. Shit, I know that if I do that she’s going to put my balls through the wringer, honestly kids if you don’t know what a wringer is you should ask your mom, but then if I don’t the climax is going to blow it right out of my head. It’s really a no win situation, except for the mind blowing sex part that is. :devil_tb: :thumbup_tb:

Anyway, it was about 4 a.m. while at work, I’m wearing shorts and it was about 2.5C when I had this sudden light bulb moment and this post just popped into my head. I’ve seen a lot of memes out there and it’s quite possible that someone else has already done it, but I thought it would be a great idea if we could share with each other something unique about the place where we live. It could be your home town or it could even be homeland.

Let me explain. I’ve already done a few posts about things that are unique to Australia. There was the one about an actual living tree house where a husband and wife brought up their family. Then there was the one about The Whispering Wall which is a dam with unique acoustics that allows people from each end to whisper to each other. Lastly I did a post on The Morning Glory Cloud, once again something that is unique to Australia.

OK, now I know that I get people from all over the world who pop in to read my posts and I know a whole lot of them are bloggers, who may occasionally be stuck for something to write about. Well not only will this give you something interesting to write about, it should also lead to some incoming links.  All you have to do is write a post about something unique or interesting about where you live, linking to this post and asking your readers to do the same. Drop me an email once you’ve done that including a link to your post and I will post that link on this post just under this heading.

Naturally it would be embarrassing for me me if no-one took this on so I would appreciate it if you didn’t let me down.  Naturally you should also Tweet or stumble this post to get the word out. :tongue_wink_ee:

Interesting And Unique Places Around The World

Meditation Center: Ramana who lives in Pune India has just written a post, complete with picture, of something that unique to where he lives.

San Bernardino California: Josiah’s post tells you about McDonald’s  birthplace and how the hot rods storm past Route 66 on a yearly basis. Thanks Josiah, that was really an interesting post.

Introduction To Cave Exploration: Check it out as James guides us through the Makahambus Cave which is roughly 30 minutes from the City of Golden Friendship.

Oh, yeah, something else we have that’s unique is the biggest rocking horse in the world.

Reviewing MyLikes As An Advertiser

While I’ve done a couple of posts on MyLikes as a publisher I thought I would put them through their paces as an advertiser. Out of all the blogs I own the one that has proven to be the most difficult as far as promoting it goes has always been my Top Sexual Aids blog.  The main reason for this is obviously the content of the site and while there is nothing wrong with sex as a whole people get a little funny about it when it comes to talking about ways of making it better through sexual aids.

I did think about giving Google Adsense a go but when they emailed me saying they would no longer present ads on that site I thought better about giving them money to promote it. I mean how does that work, they’re too high and mighty to run ads on there but it’s quite OK to take my money as an advertiser? Not bloody likely.

Then I remembered MyLikes and so I decided to give them a go. Setting it all up was a real snap, as you can see from the following image all that is required is a little information about your campaign.

You can even set a sample tweet to give your publishers an example of what you are looking for. I left this blank as I wanted them to use their imagination. You also want to set your cost per click and your campaign budget. At first I tried  5 cents per click bu this created very little interest so I raised the stakes to 15 cent per click, which worked a whole lot better.

Another thing you may want to take note of is the section where it says ‘In what geographical locations do you want clicks from?’ I chose that I would only accept click from the US because I figured this was the best way to get more click per buck. This means that although I’m getting traffic from the rest of the world I’m only paying for those who live in the States. At least that’s how I think it works.

So, how did it all go. Let’s look at Google Analytic for the answer.

You can see where the campaign cut in, the apex peaked at 84 visits which is great because I was only getting a couple of visits a day if lucky. Once the campaign ended I was still getting about 10-20 visits a day. What was really surprising is that spike near the end where it got to almost 500 visits for the day. I can only assume that one of those Tweets got the attention of a Twitterer with a huge following who passed it on causing it to go viral.

Overall I am very pleased with the way MyLikes performed and I would highlight the fact that the possibility of your post going viral, and the ease of use makes it, in my opinion, vastly superior to Adsense. At the moment traffic is still pretty high, so much so that at the writing of this post it’s ranked #7 on Cool Blog Links, and that itself is pretty cool, not to mention the click through rate on the products/affiliates I have on that blog.

If you’re already a MyLikes member all you have to do is click on the Advertise link at the top of your page. If you’re not a member it would be a good idea to join because it’s a double edged sword that works in your favor. The first razor sharp edge slices open the purse strings leaving it wide open for your Twitter earnings to fall in and the second opens your site up exposing it to the greater market that is waiting for you.

Cool Blog Links Top 10 Coolest Blogs

Once upon a time a there was a man with a dream, and that dream was to bring to life a site that would one day link to all the coolest blogs in the blogosphere. That dream, in part came true on December 12th 2008 when Cool Blog Links came to life.  That man just happened to be yours truly and in almost 18 months it’s member base has grown to a whole 19! Yes you have heard right my treasure dream site has 19 members. OK, who the hell is that laughing in that background? Obviously not a member. Could someone please show that person the door, Mitch I reckon you can escort that low life out.

Yes, our member base is low but that doesn’t matter because our members are the best of the best and it’s only a matter of time before we will be beating them back with a stick. :tongue_rolleye_ee:

Seriously folks even with a relatively small member base Cool Blog Links has still obtained a PR3 ranking. As in the past I have decided to reward the top 10 members, that is those members that are currently ranking in the top 10 at the time of writing this post. The first such post was published on March 29th 2009 and the second on November 11th 2009.

As you would expect the top 10 blogs change as time goes by and so without further ado I would like to present the latest top 10 cool blogs.

  1. Tech18.com: Although a relatively new comer this blog has shot to the top.  It’s latest post, HTML5: What? Why? How and When discusses the enhancements to HTML that will may or may not be the bees knees in HTML? See what Sunil Jain has to say about it all.
  2. So, You Want To Be A Banquet Manager: Was the top dog for quite some time but is now running second. This blog is full of entertaining stories about what being a banquet manager is all about. It’s latest post, Hey Sales Chick – Breakfast is Only For An Hour and a Half! is just a sample of the interesting things that can happen when working in the hospitality industry.
  3. I’m Just Sharing: Yep, my good mate Mitch has shot to no.3 overtaking his good mate in the process. His blog covers many topics and is always a great read. It seems that one of his latest posts, My Gripe With WordPress.com Blogs outlays some of their short comings.
  4. Work From Home Business Blog: Peter Lee has been in the top 10 since day one and that’s not at all surprising seeing how he’s always writing great content in his quest to keep his readers up to date such as helping those who Wanna Know What Google Sees In Your Blog’s Home Page?
  5. The Shadows Of My Mind: If my memory serves me Lindsay is a fellow Aussie blogger and his blog also covers a wide range of topics. His post on Final Fantasy VIII – First Impressions also talks about his first encounter with the latest 3D movies.
  6. What A Load Of Bullshit:  Yep this is one of mine and it does really well in the SERPS.
  7. Wassup Blog: Yeah, there’s no need to tell you anything about this blog :drunk_tb:
  8. Scenic Adelaide: Yep another of my blogs. Imagine that, I have three blogs in the top 10. Not happy with that? The why not join and try to knock me off my perch.?
  9. Anne On Life: Anne is the one of two women to make it to the top 10. Way to go Anne. Anne can be hormonal at times as she admits in her post Every Child Needs Love, but then what woman isn’t? Only kidding ladies, you know I loves ya all.
  10. Expressive World:  Another lovely female blogger, Ana, owns this site and her blog is all about expression. She loves to post beautiful photos each one accompanied by something meaningful. I particularly like the Your Beauty In This World.

I’ve decided to make this post sticky for awhile so that those listed in this post will get the most benefit from being on the front page of a PR4 blog. Naturally I am hoping that this post will attract more members and there are advantages other than be listed on future Top 10 updates such as being listed on a PR 3 site, not to mention the added traffic that Cool Blog Links will send your way. I’ve just checked my Google Analytic and I was surprised to find that it is the number one source of traffic to this blog, no.2 being Twitter.
