Choose A Professional Theme

When blogging for money the most important item on your list should be a professional theme because like it or not they're going to judge you on how your blog looks. If you're like me you will want a theme that not only looks good it has to be easy to use as well.

I use the FlexSqueeze theme because I found it can do all the things I wanted it to do. This post gives you a sample of what FlexSqueeze is capable of.

Making Money With Amazon

The reason many people join Amazon as an affiliate is because of the range of products they have available for sale. My tool of choice as an Amazon affiliate would have to be WPZon Builder!

The post Why I Love WP Zon Builder gives you a sample of what this exceptional plugin is capable of. In short the main positives would have to be the ease of use and the ability to import the customer reviews into your post.

Choosing The Right Affiliate

Most people who make money online have hit on the right affiliate to promote. This particular Post will direct you to other posts that highlight some of the ways that I have made money online!

They also say the secret to making money online is choosing the right niche. One of the niches I've chosen to add to my online income has to do with the growing Online Lottery industry.

I’ve Just Added The Tweet My Blog Plugin

I’ve been a member of Twitter for awhile now but being a pretty lazy blogger I rarely remember to let people know via Twitter that I have just updated my blog. This could be costing me thousands of page views. Hopefully the Tweet My Blog plugin will rectify this as every time I post to my blog it will send out a tweet to all my followers.

For those of you who are not yet following me on Twitter you can easily do so by clicking this link, and for those bloggers who haven’t yet joined perhaps you should consider doing so as Twitter is a great way to let your followers know what you are doing. Not sure what Twitter is? Technically it is a free service that lets you send a 140-character message, commonly reffered to as a ‘tweet’, directly to everyone who have chosen to follow you and you have total control over who you choose to follow and who you allow as followers.

As to who uses Twitter, almost everyone from ProBlogger Darren Rowse to the pretty girl next door, so  as you can see, it is also a great way to keep an eye on your favorite bloggers. If you really want to know how to make the best out of Twitter, you can’t go past an article posted by the guardian.co.uk.

Anyway, hopefully through the use of Tweet My Blog I will be able to transform my

Twitter Account Into A Traffic Monster & Automatically Drive A Stampede Of Traffic To Your WordPress Blog!

Commentators, How Do I Reward Thee? Let Me Count The Ways

I reckon those of you who read my blog regularly would realize by now how I hold my commentators in high esteem and I how I love to reward them for leaving a comment. Those of you who don’t, well let me list them here for you in order that it may encourage you also to join in the discussions on this blog.

  1. Do Follow: First of all, by using the Do Follow plugin I have removed the No Follow tags and so Google will now be able to follow the link, left in the name field when you leave a comment, to your blog or site.
  2. The F Group: I am a member of the F Group, a group that promises to follow all commentators to their blog and reciprocate with a comment of their own.
  3. Brian’s Threaded Comment Plugin: This plugin makes it easier to respond to an authors comment rather than have to use the old ‘@ Name’ Crap and then scrolling up and down to see what the conversation is all about.
  4. CommentLuv: This is a neat little plugin, developed by Andy Bailey, that reward you by including a titled link to your last blog post at the end of your comment. If you register your site at commentluv you can actually choose from your last 10 posts!
  5. Top Commentators Widget: Read all about how being a regular commentator can increase your backlinks via this plugin.
  6. KeywordLuv: KeywordLuv by Stephen Cronin is the latest method that I am using to reward those who take the time to leave a comment. Everyone knows the value of keywords, well with this plugin will separate your name from your keywords in the link to your blog or website thereby giving you improved anchor text.  All you need do to to utilize this plugin is enter YourName@YourKeywords in the Name field to take advantage of it. For example, if I was to enter Sire@Wassupblog in the name field it would show up as Sire from WassupBlog.

You can thank Kristi of Kikolani fame, her latest poem The Sweetest Drug, for that last plugin as it was her comment on my Commenting Etiquette post that inspired me to install it.

Getting A High Technorati Ranking

Like most rankings Technorati ranks your blog depending on how many other blogs linked to it. If you had a good ranking you would displaying it on your blog in the hope that it would demonstrate to others that you are a blogger with some authority. As I wanted to be one of those bloggers I decided to increase my ranking and I came up with several methods that I pursued with great diligence. They worked so well that I managed top get a Technorati Authority for my Blogsire Blog of over a 100. I was quite happy with this and so I slacked off taking things easy and then I noticed my ranking was slipping.

Why? Were bloggers removing my links? Nope, nothing so sinister. It appears that Technorati only counts those links for a period of 6 months, so what was happening was that as the age of those links approached 6 months they simply dropped off and I must admit that so did my enthusiasm for wanting to keep it. Way too much work as far as I was concerned.

So, what techniques did I use?

  1. Review Exhcanges: I made it quite obvious that I would be willing to swap reviews with blogs of a similar nature.
  2. Blog Hopping: By collaborating with other blogs who are willing to join this system worked quite well and you can read all about it at the original post.
  3. Commenting On Do Follow Blogs: I noticed that these were sometimes picked up by Technorati.
  4. Joining In Memes: This would normally involve an exchange of links thereby increasing your rankings.
  5. Top Commentators Plugin: This is not one that I used previously but I have noticed that links from this plugin actually does appear on Technorati. It’s only natural to assume that were you to become one of the top commentators on blogs using that plugin that your link will be picked up by Technorati.
  6. Technorati Favorites: According to this post it seems that there unlike Technorati Authority there is no time limit to your Technorati Favorites Votes which has it’s own advantages including recognizing your blogs authority. Get to the top 100 and you may well receive an increase in your blogs readership

So, if you want to get into the ‘Favorite’ exchange just ‘Favorite’ me by clicking here leaving your favorite link in the comments and I will do the same for you.

I know that there are other methods but I leave that to you, the ever important reader, to contribute for the betterment of the blogging community.

Although there are a heap of bloggers who would love to get a higher PR, there are probably just as many who would love to get a good Alexa rating. Ages ago I discovered a way of increasing my Alexa ranking and I’ve decided to pass this information onto all those lucky enough to read this post. Before I divulge this method I think I should tell you a little about what Alexa ranking really is. Where Google Page Rank is a way of monitoring the amount of back links to your site, 0 being the worst and 10 being the best ranking, Alexa records your sites traffic. With the Alexa ranking, the lower you’re number the more heavily your site is visited. Seeing as how some advertisers see the Alexa ranking as being quite important there are many who would love to improve their current ranking.

The way to increase your Alexa ranking is to install the Alexa Toolbar! It’s via the toolbar that Alexa is able to monitor how many hits each website or blog gets as it tracks every user who has a toolbar installed. The information they collect is anonymous so they don’t know who visits what blog, they only know a visit has taken place. That means that even your visits are recorded.

I stopped using Windows Internet Explorer when I switched to Firefox and I couldn’t work out why my Alexa Ranking wasn’t increasing. As an experiment I started to use it again and to my surprise my ranking improved by leaps and bounds. I therefore concluded that it must be related to the Alexa Toolbar and so I looked for a FireFox add-on.

So if you haven’t done so yet I recommend installing this Toolbar as this will give you access to certain useful information such as the traffic trend, reach meter and traffic rank of every site you visit, and let’s not forget that you also increase your own ranking.

Joining The F Group For Comments Sake

I’ve decided that it was time to give the newly named F Group a little plug. This is the name given to a group of bloggers who are striving to increase the amount of quality comments on their blogs. To be part of the movement you have to make a commitment to yourself, that you will endeavor to  follow the commentator to their blog and to reciprocate with a comment of your own.

To deter form comment spam I urge you to set up a Comment Policy that will stipulate what sort of comments will be accepted as worthy of reciprocation. To be part of the group you will need to let others know that you belong by displaying a badge such as the one displayed in this post. That and letting them know that you are a ‘do follow’ blog should encourage them to leave a comment. The badge should link to a post within your own blog that explains to the reader the benefits of leaving a comment on your blog.

You Comment And I Will Comment On Your Blog

I would also like to reward those who take this important step to increase their blog interaction by submitting their link to the F Group page, thereby getting one of those all important one way links. I will also enter those participating bloggers to my WassupBlog’s link directory, thereby getting another all important one way link.

So far, Peter of Work At Home Ideas, is the only one that I know of who is displaying the badge and following the rules and so I have taken the liberty of entering him in the F Group Hall Of Fame, so to speak. Peter, if you email me with your details for the Link Directory at blogster@blogsire.com I will enter your blog for you, ensuring you get that one way link.

If anyone else wants to take advantage of being part of the F Group, leave a comment with a link to your blog displaying the badge and upon approval, and once you have emailed me with your details, I will place your link in the link directory and the F Group page. Before you go, just remember that the most important reason for doing this is to encourage people to leave a comment before they leave your blog.
