scary Halloween poem

Hey guys, I hope you enjoy my scary Halloween poem, but first, a little introduction.

Even though I’m not a Halloween fan, I know there are a lot of Halloween fans out there. A while back, I wrote a post called A Poem For Halloween The Night Of Frights. As it turns out, that particular post brings in quite a bit of traffic every year around Halloween. Now I wonder why that is? 😛 That specific poem had a twist to it, and because it was so long ago I thought it was only fitting that I should post another today’s Scary Halloween Poem!

My Scary Halloween Poem

Screams Of Halloween

It’s Halloween, the night of fright
Which child will go missing tonight?
Do they know on whose door they knock?
For imagined treats, perhaps a shock!

Dark and scary, they venture still
Smiling pumpkins upon window sill
Dares’t they knock upon the door?
Knowing not who knocked before

Did they get the treats they sought?
Or perhaps some dreadful evil wrought
Upon young flesh sweet and innocent
So hungry for fresh souls to torment

Looking around, eerie sounds abound
Is that the baying of the devil’s hound?
Jack-O-Lantern’s smile or evil grin
A little fear brings goosebumps to skin

Though breath comes fast, still they knock
Door creakily opens as though to mock
Candles light a path to their treats
Will they enter or quickly retreat?

Temptation too much for them to bear
They venture slowly in to claim their share
The door swings shut they whirl around
Demons, ghosts and ghouls did abound

Passersby heard their terrified screams
Their flesh did crawl as from their darkest dreams
But walk on by past the house obscene
After all, are not screams part of Halloween?

After posting this, I thought that you might like to hear me give you a personal rendition and so I made a video and uploaded it to YouTube. I tried to give it a scary sound, but I’m not sure that I succeeded 😀

Well, that’s it, my scary friends. Did you enjoy it? Did it make your skin crawl? Which poem did you like best, the one from the other post or this one? If you enjoyed the video, please take the time to head on over to YouTube so you can give it the thumbs up. If you do I won’t have to haunt you 👻

If you liked it you know what to do, write me a comment telling me what you liked about it, but most of all share it with your friends on social media. Please give it a Tweet, share it with your Facebook friends. You know you want to, before the ghouls come to get you. 😈

My Poem For Halloween The Night Of Frights

I decided to write a Poem For Halloween the night of frights because Halloween is all about kids dressing up as ghosts, witches, Frankenstein and anything else that may be related to scaring people and then going about the trick or treat routine. Halloween is about kids who knock on doors begging for a treat, and generally, people would give them a sweet or something for their efforts. A lot of folks even decorate their homes for Halloween to give it a scary look.

Keeping in line with the Halloween theme, I thought I would post a poem about a scary night when you’re home alone. It may well fall on the night of Halloween itself with all the trick or treating going on, and it’s time to watch a spooky movie. I have to admit though that this time I just had to end the poem with a bit of a twist.

Home Alone On Halloween

Poem For Halloween The Night Of Frights
Created with the Graphics Creator

Home alone on a dark, windy night
Going to watch horror movies to get a fright
Stick a film in the DVD player
Got me some chips, and a dip for flavour.

Turned the lights out and settled down
Sitting on the lounge in my nightgown.
The movie’s scary I’m crouching low.
When’s the scary part coming, I don’t know.

A screeching sound scares me out of my mind.
I jump right up leaving my skin behind.
It’s only a moment before my skin comes back,
Hitting my body with a blood-curdling crack.

I go into the kitchen for the carving knife
I need a weapon in case I meet some strife
I creep into the lounge, the movie still playing
When suddenly there’s some screeching baying

All of a sudden my heart’s in my throat
I can’t breathe I’m starting to choke
With some effort I push it down
I must find out what’s making that sound

I creep into the master bedroom
It’s dark and scary, will I meet my doom
A sound of water from the bathroom I hear
Is there a ghoulish fiend lurking near

The screeching starts, I can not bear it
I must stop it before my mind it splits
I raise the knife its blade a gleaming
I must stop that damn awful screaming.

I open the door just a crack
To see the fiend, I must attack
My jaw drops, eyes open wide in shock
My wife is back she beat the clock

That awful sound was her singing
That grating sound my ears a ringing
The horror movie that I had found
Would be much better if it used that sound.
