Unlocking the world to financial success requires the right tools. Lacking the proper tools makes the journey that much harder and takes that much longer

I am going to show you the tools that I use, tools that actually improve your chances of making money online. Simply scroll through to learn which tools can help increase your online income!

Choose A Professional Theme

When blogging for money the most important item on your list should be a professional theme because like it or not they're going to judge you on how your blog looks. If you're like me you will want a theme that not only looks good it has to be easy to use as well.

I use the FlexSqueeze theme because I found it can do all the things I wanted it to do. This post gives you a sample of what FlexSqueeze is capable of.

Making Money With Amazon

The reason many people join Amazon as an affiliate is because of the range of products they have available for sale. My tool of choice as an Amazon affiliate would have to be WPZon Builder!

The post Why I Love WP Zon Builder gives you a sample of what this exceptional plugin is capable of. In short the main positives would have to be the ease of use and the ability to import the customer reviews into your post.

Choosing The Right Affiliate

Most people who make money online have hit on the right affiliate to promote. This particular Post will direct you to other posts that highlight some of the ways that I have made money online!

They also say the secret to making money online is choosing the right niche. One of the niches I've chosen to add to my online income has to do with the growing Online Lottery industry.

SEO Tactics For Improving Search Engine Results

In my last post I wrote about how things were tracking with my lottery ticket site. I related how although it had only been three months it had already attained a PR3 ranking. I also mentioned how although it ranked #1 for certain keywords in Bing and Yahoo it was doing pretty dismally where Google is concerned. I failed to mention though that it had an Alexa ranking of 500,994 which I think is pretty damned good considering it’s age.

One of the things that I love about blogging and cultivating good comments is that doing so usually results in useful information. Sometimes those comments may result in another post and other times they could result in valuable information that the blogger can use. This time they actually resulted in both. Like the comment left by my mate Mitch of I’m Just sharing.

.
And only because it’s you I’m going to tell you why. I ran some stats on just your main page for that blog. First I ran the term “lottery tickets” and on your entire first page, which are all your latest blog posts, you only use that phrase 10 times out of 3,688 words. You only have one link highlighted with that term out of 197 links. That’s not going to get it done. For the term “lotto tickets”, you at least have that in your title tag, but this time you only used the phrase 4 times and only have 2 links. In other words, in the world of SEO Google has you ranked lower because you’re not using your keyword phrases enough. I didn’t have to put in the 3-word phrases because in this case the 2-word phrases were bad enough; 3-word phrases would be even worse. And there you go; you know I wouldn’t do it “for free” for anyone else but you. And now, back to the chess whipping! :thumbup_tb:Mitch Mitchell

Then there was the comment left by Marion.

.
Now the question is if you chose the keywords correctly… I checked on Adword Keyword Tool how many searches “buy online lottery tickets” have on Google. It has only 58 global searches per month with [Exact] search, so if you get #1 for this keyword in SERPs you’ll have an average of 2 per day!!!Then I verified the “online lottery tickets” keyword. It has 590 global searches per month, so if you’ll be ranked #1 for this, then you’ll have an average of 19 visitors per day.Now my advice is that you should find some more searched keywords and make SEO on them, rank your website well for them and then you’ll see that it can be possible.P.S. “online tickets” has 9900 global searches per month. It means that if you get your website #1 for this keyword, you’ll have an average of 330 visitors per day. :)

Both Mitch and Marion, who from this day forth shall be known as the M&M’s :lol_ee: both made some very good points that are keyword related. Naturally I knew that Buy Online Lotto Tickets wasn’t the best keywords to target, Market Samurai told me that, but I thought it would be the easiest option as they were in the domain name. Still, like Marion suggested the amount of searches for those keywords are minimal.

Taking their advice I decided to change my tactics by focusing on more popular search terms, like lottery tickets, and by ensuring that they appeared more often in the blog. Whereas other bloggers, including yours truly, uses the footer for placing widgets and such I thought it would be more SEO appropriate to use it to optimise the blog for those search terms. You can see what I mean by checking out my SEO optimised Footer.

Finally, there was the comment left by Nik.

.
Just some quick observations but it appears you have two H1 tags on that site, try removing one. If I were you remove the “become an affiliate one” since google is not in love with affiliates. Also the ratio of different domains vs the number of back-links is very low. You might want to spread your wings a bit. What I mean by the ratio is that you have a lot of backlinks coming from a few domains. I believe yours is 90 domains to 5000 back-links. So spread your wings and get links from a wider variety of domains. To many links from one domain could be seen as spammy.

.

At first I pointed out to Nik that they were H2 tags, because that was what I thought I inserted in the post, but as it turns out Nik was right and I was able to correct the error. So, I made some changes and I will now concentrate on increasing my backlinks making sure I spread them out over a greater range of domains.

While this post may point out some important SEO facts it points out something that is almost as important. I’m talking about the importance of leaving quality comments on a post. You just never know when your comment will lead to your blog or site being included in a post. :drunk_tb:

Social Media Should Begin At Home

Everyone knows how important comments are to a blog. They virtually breathe life into a post! When people see that a post doesn’t have many comments the first impression could well be that the post itself is inferior. This could cause them to move on without reading the post or at the very least it can give them a preconceived perception that the post is somewhat imperfect in some way.

Knowing that to be the case I have over the years conducted a personal crusade to show people how important comments really are and what they should do get more comments on their blogs. I’ve even written posts, like Teaching People The Proper Way To Comment to help commentators improve their commenting skills so they have more chance of getting their comments approved. More importantly I’ve tried to show them how leaving great comments will actually increase traffic to their blogs.

In my post How Much Do You Really Want To Cheese Off Your Readers I listed reasons why I wouldn’t comment on people’s blogs finishing off with a poll asking people to vote on what things stopped them from commenting on a blog. I think it’s time we analyzed those results.

What Stops People From Commenting!

  • Closed Comments: OK, obviously you can’t comment if you have the comments closed but the thing to be aware of is that if people can’t comment they may decide not to stop by anymore. 59% of people said selected this choice.
  • Need To Subscribe: 36% voted that they would not comment if they had to subscribe to do so.
  • Third Party Comment System: 34% voted that they would not comment on blogs that used third party comment systems. I know those people who use it say people will comment regardless but the facts speak for themselves. What really makes no sense is some of these people say it actually attracts comments and that is just crazy.
  • Poor Blog Content: 27% said that they would not comment on a blog with poor content! That alone should be incentive enough to publish the best content you know how. Make it interesting and appealing enough and you’re bound to get more comments.
  • Comment Moderation: 25% of people said the blogs who constantly moderated their comments pissed them off to such an extent they stopped commenting and if they’re not going to comment they probably won’t read it anymore.
  • Pop Ups: 25% of people found pop ups so annoying they left without commenting, and probably without reading it as well.
  • Rude Blog Owners: These are blog owners who were unnecessarily rude to some commentators. 23% said they would no longer comment on blogs that had rude owners. Message here is to be polite at all times. Show that you are the better person.
  • Being Ignored: Only 16% said that being ignored would stop them from commenting. I’m one of those 16% so if you don’t want me to comment read your blog then don’t bother replying to my comments.
  • It’s A Blogger Blog: only 16% said they wouldn’t comment on a blogger blog. I occasionally do but only if I know the blogger.

Well, that’s it for that poll, and with the end of one we have the birth of another.

Why Social Media Should Begin At Home

Isn’t it weird how so many people are so into telling others how important social media is for growing their business or building their blog but when it comes to interacting on their own blog they are somewhat lacking? :wallbash_tb: Well hopefully this and other posts will educate them somewhat by showing them how it really starts off with their own blog. Heck, it makes no sense at all to do all that interacting on social media sites to get people to visit your blog and once you get them there you fail to continue that very interaction that got them there in the first place!

And yet social media is an important part of getting people to know who you really are as well as building a sense of trust between you and those who have chosen to follow you, something that you need to continue once they come for a visit.

I feel this is a brilliant topic for another poll. In this poll you get to vote twice by telling everyone what your two favourite Social Media Sites are.

Once you’ve voted please leave a comment telling us why you chose the ones you did. You may also choose to use the social media buttons on this post to spread the word amongst your contacts because as with most polls you always get a better result when a larger representation of people take part.

WordPress Tutorials For The New User

It came to me last night that perhaps it would be a good idea to create a series of How To videos for those new bloggers. I’m sure that a lot of these already exist but perhaps mine would appeal to another group of viewers. Also I’m sure it would be a great resource for anyone who’s decided to Hire Me to set up their blogs for them.

Also, another great advantage is that this particular set of tutorials would include specific reference to FlexSqueeze and that I’m sure that once people actually see what Flexsqueeze 1.5 has to offer there is every chance that it may entice them to buy the theme.

This is the first video in the series

I’m really happy about the video especially because I produced it using my Apple MacBook Air. Man, I am so glad I purchased this Mac and I am now using it more that the PC, and that says a lot.

Since you’re here, perhaps you give me some ideas on what sort of things I should include in my video tutorials. Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated.

Blogging Like Life Is All About Choices

No matter where you go or what you do in life you are confronted with choices. You can make the right choice or you can make the wrong one. Unfortunately making the wrong choice has consequences. It will lead you down the wrong path taking you away from what you truly desire in life. However, that path will lead you to forks in the road that once again gives you more choices. Taking the right path can change your fortune whereas taking the wrong one merely increases your despair. Making the right choice isn’t always easy but then the easy choice can sometimes be the wrong one.

Blogging is no different. As bloggers we are faced with many choices.

Choices Bloggers Make

  • Do we use a free platform or do we host our own blog?
  • Do we use third party comments systems like Disqus or do we stay with the the preferred default one?
  • Do we stay nofollow or do we make the choice to reward our commentators and go dofollow
  • Do we choose to reply to as many comments as possible or do we just sit on the fence and let those comments go unreplied and for all they know unnoticed?
  • Do we use a paid theme or do we stick with a free one?
  • Do we allow keywords in the name field or should we insist on a name

Obviously bloggers are faced with many more choices than just these few and perhaps you could tell us some of the choices that you’ve had to make.

My Choice Commentluv Or FlexSqueeze

I actually had my own choice to make, one which came about when I updated to the latest FlexSqueeze theme. As you may have noticed in my last post, When Will You People Get A Damn Gravatar, commentluv was out of action. It worked fine in the last version but didn’t work in this one. There was no way I was getting rid of FlexSqueeze, not after seeing and trying all the new things Ryan has added to it. So, if I had to make a choice between the two I’m afraid CommentLuv would have been the loser and I didn’t want that to happen so I had to find a solution.

After trying the obvious things I decided to make use of Andy Bailey’s CommentLuv Support. WithinCommentLuv Suport 24 hours I got a response to the ticket, and Andy, you know I loves ya mate but most of that stuff was way over my head. It did however give me a hint; it had something to do with jquery and that meant either a plugin or one of the scripts I was running. Using Andy’s response as a guide I was able to pinpoint one offending script which was running an outdated jquery and replaced it with one that didn’t use jscript.

The next step was to disable all the plugins to see if it worked. OK, OK, maybe that should have been the first step :doh_tb: :cheese1_ee: Anyway, disabling all but the CommentLuv plugin showed that it was definitely plugin related. Then it was just a matter of enabling one plugin at a time until I found the offending one. As it turns out it was the InfoLinks plugin :guns_tb:  , so I deleted that and installed the script into the footer instead.

As you can see, all is well with the world and I was able to keep both the FlexSqueeze theme and the CommentLuv plugin but only because I decided to choose the harder path by trying to resolve the problem. :drunk_tb:

When Will You People Get A Damn Gravatar

This post is very important so I want you to read it carefully and to pay very special attention because if you don’t you’re liable to do something wrong that will get your comment deleted. First off I want to ask you a quick question. Do you know why so many bloggers insist on an actual name and not a keyword? It’s quite simple really, because when they reply to the blogger they would prefer to know who the heck they are talking to. No-one really likes to say; “Hey Cheap Web Hosting, I really loved your comment because you added so much quality to my post……..” Nope, I wouldn’t put up with that, no matter how much grovelling you do, and neither would any decent respected blogger. If they have any sense at all they would do what I do and that is to delete your comment.

This post isn’t about using a keyword instead of your real name though, but it is about something just as important, it’s about taking the time to get a Gravatar. You know, that little photo that appears next to the comments that people leave. I’m getting a little tired getting comments that do not have a registered gravatar. In fact, I am so tired of them that I’m not going to accept any comment on this post that does not have a Gravatar!

Your Gravatar is an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things like comment or post on a blog. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums, so why not on any site?

In essence your Gravatar is your brand, that being the case it is just as important as using your name instead of a keyword, and seeing how its absolutely free why wouldn’t you register a Gravatar. Before you do though you may want to consider the following.

  • Even though you may have a company logo I personally suggest
you use an actual photo of yourself as this is more likely to get people to trust you. I used to use a random graphic that I thought was pretty cute but it wasn’t until Icleavage started using a personal photo that I actually started making sales.
  • Ladies, even if you are endowed with a great set of knockers, please include your face as well, because if all I have to look at is cleavage I doubt very much that I will notice your content, and it is your content you want people to notice isn’t it?
  • This one is the most important of all, by not having a Gravatar it’s highly likely that some of your comments may come across as spam and that is the last thing that you want to happen!

So why wouldn’t you consider getting a Gravatar, especially when its free and so easy to set up. All you need remember is when signing up is you need to use the same email that you use when blog commenting because it is linked to that email. That’s it folks, so if you haven’t got one yet you had better head on over to Gravatar and get one now.
