Be Creative, Be Innovative, Be Positive When Blogging

Do you guys remember that post I did a little while back about creating headlines that have some sort of emotional impact on your readers? No! Well that’s probably because you haven’t subscribed to my blog yet! You really should do something about that you know, otherwise you’ll never know what important interesting little bit of information you’ll miss out on.

Strangely enough, I got this email today which actually portrays how important the wording on a title can be. It’s also a pretty inspiring message and I want to share it with you.

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: “I am blind, please help.” There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy.

That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, “Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?”

The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.” I wrote: “Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it.”

Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind. Should we be surprised that the second sign was more effective?

Moral of the Story: Be thankful for what you have. Be creative. Be innovative. Think differently and positively. When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile.
Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.

The most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling…
And even more beautiful, is knowing that you are the reason behind it!!!

If you appreciate this message, please share.
You may touch someone’s heart today and forever.

You know, as bloggers I reckon we can find something a little extra in that story.

  1. All I can say is… AWESOME!

This article deserves to become one of your most popular. Retweeting, stumbling, digging, whatever else I can think of now.

  2. This article was a great read. I love the way you included the illustrations to explain the message you were trying to get across.

When you continue to practice creativity and innovation you will always continue to advance in the blogging world and even set some trends. I will certainly be sharing this article because I do appreciate the message. Nicely done.

  3. Very inspiring indeed Sire and so show to you that “words” can be as powerful as they can be provided you know how to use them. Reading “stories” like this one makes me grateful that at the very least even if it is NOT a beautiful day, I can still see it.

    1. I’m grateful every day, when I see my family around me, when I go outside and smell the fresh air and see all the wonderful things that God’s given to us and finally when I can share things I love with those who come to visit my blog.

  4. Still, I have to say that I’d be more impressed if the blind boy got off his ass and went to work instead of making people feel sorry for him.

      1. In my part of the world, the unemployment rate is high. Even very qualified professionals (and new graduates, most especially) have to really persevere in their efforts to find jobs. Those with disabilities are almost hopeless in the job-hunting area.

Thus, like you, I express my gratitude daily to my creator. I even utter a word of thanks after I sneeze. Yeah, it means a cold virus is doing his little havoc, but the sneeze felt good. :)

        1. Yeah, I think a little compassion in such a case isn’t a bad thing at all. Besides, I think the post says so much more than that. It’s not just about helping others, it’s also about looking at how you do things and thinking about what you can do to improve it.

It’s also about looking at things differently and rather than concentrating on the negative look for the positives.

  5. Hi Sire: This post has been absolutely fabulous. While I believe the intent was to stress the value of stating the same thing differently to bring in greater results, what it has additionally ended up doing for me ( and to a few other commenters above ) is to wake us up and nudged us to become more positive in our outlook on life itself. It IS difficult to remain positive amidst adversity, and this is a quiet reminder to make sure we do not forget that life is indeed beautiful. Thank you so much; you made my day.

  6. I had read it before, but enjoyed it again, Sire. Good post. Happy Xmas if I’m not in contact before it arrives.

First, I wonder how the kid was able to write the sign to begin with. :-)

Second, I like the point on how one can say the same thing by changing the words around a little bit. It’s a very effective strategy, to be sure.

Third, you might want to take a look at that second paragraph again; doesn’t read correctly. Yeah, I said it! :innocent1_tb: :lol_tb:

    1. OK, let me answer those three points for you.

      • I reckon he got some lame ass newbie blogger who has no idea how to come up with a good heading to write if for him. :tongue_wink_ee:
      • I totally agree with you! :thumbup_tb:
      • Damn, why does it always have to be the second paragraph :wallbash_tb: :lol_ee:

I know I didn’t have to answer all three points, I was just needed an excuse to play with FlexSqueeze’s new features :clap_tb:

Hey, kind of off-topic, but I notice your Adsense ads look, well, weird lately. For instance, you main box in your post only has one little link in it; weird.

  10. Sire,

That’s absolutely true, if we are not creative of blogging, we will be buried deep down -not found.

however i guess we need to have enough knowledge to be creative.

Thanks for the interesting comics, love it!

    1. I’ve learned you have to be creative to stand out from the rest Kimi. You need to find out what others are not doing and then by doing it, or doing something they’re already doing but doing it better. Do that and you’re one up on them.

  11. I got that e-mail too. I enjoyed it and figured that the helpful man is probably an advertising copywriter. Those guys can take a pond full of radioactive algea and make it soound like a vacatiuon resort. It’s just a matter of finding the positive and emphasising it. :thumbup_tb:

    Good post!

    1. A advertising copywriter? Sounds more like a politician to me :tongue_wink_ee:

  12. The story with the blind boy is also a video on youtube.
I wish I could put the link here, but I can’t check my youtube favorites because I can’t get on youtube.
    It is very inspiring.

And don’t just use this kind of creativity and positivity for writing blog posts. Use it for rephrasing your thoughts. If you phrase your thoughts in a more positive way you will start to feel more positive and happy as well.

    Great post Sire!
