Making Money Online

Unlocking the world to financial success requires the right tools. Lacking the proper tools makes the journey that much harder and takes that much longer

I am going to show you the tools that I use, tools that actually improve your chances of making money online. Simply scroll through to learn which tools can help increase your online income!

Choose A Professional Theme

When blogging for money the most important item on your list should be a professional theme because like it or not they're going to judge you on how your blog looks. If you're like me you will want a theme that not only looks good it has to be easy to use as well.

I use the FlexSqueeze theme because I found it can do all the things I wanted it to do. This post gives you a sample of what FlexSqueeze is capable of.

Making Money With Amazon

The reason many people join Amazon as an affiliate is because of the range of products they have available for sale. My tool of choice as an Amazon affiliate would have to be WPZon Builder!

The post Why I Love WP Zon Builder gives you a sample of what this exceptional plugin is capable of. In short the main positives would have to be the ease of use and the ability to import the customer reviews into your post.

Choosing The Right Affiliate

Most people who make money online have hit on the right affiliate to promote. This particular Post will direct you to other posts that highlight some of the ways that I have made money online!

They also say the secret to making money online is choosing the right niche. One of the niches I've chosen to add to my online income has to do with the growing Online Lottery industry.

Sometimes It’s Better To Just Not Give A Shit

I’m Sire and I am a Blogaholic! That’s exactly how I began my Comment Policy page and I suppose at the time I thought it was kind of cute. The rest of that post explains the rules that commentators have to live by if they expect their comments to be published. It also talks about the a movement I started, and although it never really took off it’s one of the main reasons why this blog is so successful.

I wasn’t always a blogger. I started off as a casual in the retail business while I worked my way through teachers college. I was a semester from completing the course when I decided it wasn’t for me. There were those who tried to convince me to change my mind saying that I should just stick it out until I completed the course. But I knew it was tMood Meterhe wrong thing to do because my heart wasn’t in it and I figured I wouldn’t be doing those kids any favors if I became a teacher. I felt that all those good teachers I ever had were good because they loved what they did and all the bad ones were those whose heart just wasn’t in it and I didn’t want to be one of those.

I’ve now been on this earth for some fifty two years and one of the little gems I can pass on to those who will come after me is that there are times when it’s best to just not give a shit. One of the reasons why there is so much strife in this world is that people get so uptight over the smallest of things. Instead of taking a breath and deciding that it’s not all that big a deal and how it would be better to let things go they get angry.

Anger is like poison. It corrupts the soul and destroys reason. It’s because of anger that people say things they don’t really mean, thereby hurting the ones they love. It’s anger that clouds judgment and causes people to make the wrong choice. Anger should probably be sitting there right alongside envy.

I believe there was many a time when this attitude saved me from making a mistake, both in my business and in my personal life. I have to admit it hasn’t always been easy in the real world because when a situation hits you more often than not you have to deal with it then and there.

Things should be different in the online world and I can’t understand it when I see people getting upset over something that they’ve read. I’ve seen it happen over a bloggers review of a product and how the owner of the product didn’t agree with it. Rather than conversing with the blogger in a calm and orderly manner, trying to resolve the issue he went on the attack and was a complete ass. After reading the comments I could see that his actions was hurting his reputation and credibility, and it was all so unnecessary.

Anger Controlls Him

I was attacked on one of my blogs by a bloke who turned out to be a huge bigot and I admit at first I was pretty upset. Although I was pretty pissed I knew it would be wrong of me to reply while I was in that mood. I sat there for a long while and I thought about it and I decided that as wrong as his comment was it couldn’t really hurt me unless I let it, so I decided not to give a shit because it wasn’t worth it. He wasn’t worth it.

Once I calmed down I replied calmly trying to show him the error of his ways which seemed to only make things worse. The calmer I remained the more abusive he got. Some of his comments were so vile I had to delete them. What he failed to see was that his actions actually did his cause more harm than good and because of this people sided with me.

As bloggers, online marketers or whatever else we want to be while we are online we must always remember that we have one real advantage over those times when we’re in the real world. That advantage is time! Time to take a breath, count to 10 grab a coffee or whatever it takes to calm us down. It’s only when we’re in a calm frame of mind that we’re able to treat the situation rationally.

Water off a Duck´s BackSo, next time someone writes or says something that pisses you off, and it doesn’t matter if it’s on your blog or via one of the many social medias such as Twitter or Facebook just imagine that you’re a duck and that those words are like water falling off a ducks back. This will give you the time to gather your thoughts so that when you do write your comment it’s one that does you proud rather than one that may lead you on the road to self destruction.

Of you feel you may be missing out on reading a post it’s probably a good idea to join my list. If you Subscribe To WassupBlog’s New Posts you will never miss out on a post again. You may even get some links to some interesting posts that others will be missing out on. :wink_ee:

The Good The Bad & The Ugly of Lists & List Building

These days it doesn’t matter where you go, you always read the same thing, “The Money Is In The List!” Yep, no matter who you talk to they’ll all tell you that the only way to make it online is to have a list. Only the other day I was reading a review that some A Lister did on someone’s blog and he basically told him that he didn’t have a hope in hell of getting anyone to subscribe to his List because he wasn’t offering anything of value that would encourage them to subscribe.

Yep, it seems the only way to suck people into subscribing to your list is to give something away. The problem is that most people haven’t got anything to offer and so they put together some crappy Ebook that promises to reveal their secret to success even though the majority of the time the author is struggling to make a buck himself. The good the bad and the ugly of list building

The thing with lists is that just like you need targeted traffic to your blog to increase your chances of a sale, it’s just as important to sign the right kind of people to your list if you expect to sell them anything. Take for example a talented web designer who’s offering free templates to those who subscribe to his list. He may get hundreds of people opting in but he won’t have much success of making a sale if he then tries palming off life insurance. Once he sees that doesn’t work this failed marketer then starts sending out more emails trying to push other affiliates that he’s promoting only to find that instead of making sales his list is actually decreasing.

It’s unfortunate that the ones actually making heaps of money out of lists are the same ones who have attained Pro Blogger status because they have credibility. They will tell you that the only way your going to succeed is if you buy their Ebook, something they offer to you at a price after wetting your appetite with their freebie opt in product, and it’s that very credibility that causes people to buy it. Once they’ve bought it and they find it’s not working for them do you think they will tell others they made a mistake? Nope, instead they rave about how good it is thereby increasing the credibility of the author and hoping to make their own sales as an affiliate.

Keeping this in mind the only real and moral way to make money from a list is to get quality subscribers. This means if you’re going to give them a product, or a teaser that will lead to buying the actual product, it has to be actually worth something to them otherwise they’re not going to buy future products and you’re going to shoot down your credibility all to hell.

Unfortunately this form of list building takes a lot of time and effort to build a sizable list but the positive of this list is that although it’s a lot smaller the potential for conversions is a lot higher.

To summarize, if you’re going to build a list there is one very important thing you should keep in mind…

  • Do not go for quantity of subscribers, go for quality because the strength of the list is not in the numbers but in selecting those who are interested in what you are promoting.

In my post Why The List Hater Has His Very Own List I wrote about why I started my own list which was quite a shock for my regular readers as they knew how negative I was about having one. I don’t expect to make any money from this list but I’m hoping it will increase this blogs readership.

So if you want to join a list where you will never be spammed and will only receive an email to your inbox when a new post is published then you should definitely join mine. Subscribe To WassupBlog’s New Posts! Who knows, I may even add something personal about myself in some of those emails. I’ll certainly try to make them entertaining and informative. As an incentive to join I will select some posts from my subscribers and include them in the mail out. As the list grows I believe there will be a great potential to send traffic to my loyal subscribers.

Speaking of link luv and promotion if you have a blog that supports commentluv, keywordluv and is dofollow I suggest you head on over to Kimberly’s post Can You Help Me Find The DoFollows! Leave a comment on her blog telling her that you qualify and she will include you in her post listing all these special blogs.

Those of you who are serious about building quality opt in lists may find some of the following reading material to be quite helpful.

A Blogger’s Christmas Wish, Love And Peace To All

Hey guys it’s almost Christmas and I wanted this post to reflect a little about this most special time of the year. I was going to post a copy of a Christmas poem that I wrote on Helium but then I remembered that I did that last year. As there was no point in posting it again I though it best to write another Christmas poem, one that I hope will strike a chord with some of my readers.

Yeah, I know some of you guys aren’t into poetry but I figure there’s no reason why you shouldn’t attempt to broaden your horizons a little every once in awhile. :wink_ee: I know how Christmas can mean different things to different people and so it would be pointless for me to try and fulfill all those individual needs with this one poem, so I thought it best to portray a little of what it means to me.

Christmas comes but once a year
And to many one thing is very clear
For many it’s all about the shopping spree
Or even decorating the Christmas tree

The Christmas lights many a house adorn
Whilst a few Scrooges walk by looking forlorn
But there is more to Christmas than meets the eye
A lot more than just eating some fruit mince pie

It’s a story about a child born in a manger
Born there because his parents fled the danger
For King Herod made the decree all baby boys to die
Scared was he that the birth of Jesus meant his time was nigh

It’s a story of the love of our Father
For He Loved us so much that he’d rather
Sacrifice his Son so that all who believed
The real reason why Jesus was conceived

For He is our Savior and our teacher too
For he taught us all that we must do
To be as He was while on this Earth
For we must follow him for all we are worth

The path may not be easy that is true
But better the hardships than hell to queue
The rewards are great and so we strive
To reach the end to be truly alive

So this Christmas when loved ones are near
Remember the true reason for the Christmas cheer
It’s that we all get together to celebrate
That love is so much more important than hate

Merry Christmas !

Merry Christmas everyone. I hope you all have a great time and that it’s a special one for each and every one of you.

Why The List Hater Has His Very Own List

It’s no secret that I dislike lists, and no I’m not talking about a shopping list either. Nope, the lists that get my goat are those ones that you always come across on the Internet where you have to supply your details in order to get some crappy Ebook or something.

What I didn’t know the first time I gave my details to one of these sites was that I was inadvertently giving them permission to add me to their email list. That in itself didn’t seem so bad until I started to get all these emails trying to encourage me to invest in the REAL Ebook, the first one being just a teaser, some affiliate or some other scheme they’re promoting.

You know it was ages before I found out that you could unsubscribe from these things :doh_tb: I know stupid right? But heck they place those things way, way down at the bottom of the email and there is a whole lot of blank space between the end of the email and that unsubscribe link. :furious_tb: :guns_tb:

Annoying day

Image by the Italian voice via Flickr

It wasn’t until after I had a conversation with Kimberly on her New Comment Policy post that I decided to start my own list. You can see the link in the top of the sidebar, the one that says Sign up to be notified of new posts. I don’t expect too many people to sign up for it, especially as I’m not going to promote it or anything, but it’s there just so I can say I’m part of  the ‘list’ gang. :jittery_tb:

So, what can you expect from joining my list? Well one thing you won’t get is a whole pile of emails trying to sell you something. Nope the only time you will get an email is when I’ve posted a new post. That email will contain a link to the post with a, hopefully witty, comment by yours truly. I may once in awhile include a link to something that I’ve found to be useful, or perhaps even a joke that I’ve found particularly funny. Yes, there may be an affiliate link in there every now and I’m not going to lie to you by saying there won’t be.

In case you’re wandering I’ve decided to use the free version of MailChimp to power my list. If I ever get anyone to sign up I’ll do a post evaluating their service.

Anyway, the balls in your court now; if you feel like getting this kind of email from me just click on the link. OK, make my day, who’s going to be the first on my list.

There’s More To Helium Than Meets the Eye

I’ve been a member of Helium for some time now and although I’ve already written a couple of posts on them, check the related posts at the end of this one if you’re interested, I thought I should add something new in this one.

I suppose in a way you could call it an update, but it’s not like they’ve changed something that warranted an update, it’s just that this has just popped in my head and I decided to write about it. In case you’re not sure what Helium is, here’s an excerpt from their about page.

Helium is the face of the publishing revolution!

Helium is also a knowledge co-operative where our writers are also our editors who read and rate every article on the site.

At Helium, we believe that everyone can contribute what they know to share with millions of readers around the globe.

At Helium, we believe readers want a choice of viewpoints – not just one opinion on any subject.

At Helium, we believe publishers need an easier, more efficient way to get the content they need.

At Helium, great writing rises to the top. And great writing reaps great rewards.

  • Helium’s best writers earn cash through:
  • Upfront Payments for contributed work
  • Daily revenue share
  • Writing contests
  • Our best writers are recognized through:
  • Citizen Journalism Awards
  • Published articles through Marketplace
  • Professional journalism organizations

Not a bad ‘about’ page if I do say so myself. Although I don’t struggle looking for topics to write on my blogs I’ve still found that Helium has always provided me some inspiration when I visit there, which I do every couple of days so that I can vote on their articles. Voting on articles earns you ‘rating stars’ and these are necessary for earning an income on their site. While rating these articles you can see what others have written and more often than not they may inspire you to write on the same topic, meanwhile giving you fodder for another post.

Just today I had to vote on some poetry under the heading ‘If I Ruled The World“. That link will take you to my poem on Helium so you can see how it stacks up against the other poems on the same topic. It’s now rated 15 out of 27 but I’m hoping it will improve as time goes on.

If I ruled the world
things would change
So many rules would be unfurled
Some may consider them strange

Do gooders would think twice
Before speaking their mind
Giving ridiculous advice
Advice that should be declined

There would be no money spent on war
There are so many better uses
Ones far better than opening the door
To fighting rape and other abuses

Politicians would be treated the same
As the people they feign to rule
If they can’t handle the game
Then they are nothing but fools

Racism will cease to exist
Everyone will be treated the same
Those whose hatred will persist
Will be looked upon with shame

Ostracized by the world united
Forced to live on their own
Waiting until realization is ignited
And they no longer have to be alone

No longer will people fight for profit
While watching others starve
As they learn the wisdom of the Prophet
It’s better to give than an empire carve

Honestly I reckon you could do worse than by joining Helium and if you’re in anyway interested just let me know in the comment section and I’ll send you a personal invitation. If you do decide to join here’s a couple of tips for you.

  1. Use Keywords: This is just as important as using it in your blog posts. Not only will it help others to find it via the search engines it also helps those using Helium’s own search facility, and the more exposure you get the more potential for increasing your income. I failed to do this at the beginning and it’s probably the main reason why I’m not earning as much as I could be.
  2. Proof Read Before Posting: This is also important as once posted you can’t edit it unless you have a leapfrog or two up your sleeve. I’ve read many a post where people haven’t proof read their article and this has always worked against them when I rate their article.

That should give you a good head start so that if you do join you will be way ahead of newbies who haven’t had anyone to counsel them on the ways of Helium.
