Lucifer, the main protagonist of Paradise Lost...

Image via Wikipedia

There was an employee who throughout his employment did an OK job and was considered by his boss to be a half decent bloke. There came a time when the employee wanted to try his hand somewhere else and he handed in his notice. His boss was sorry to see him go but thanked him nevertheless and tried to make his remaining days pleasant ones.

On the final day the employee left without even saying goodbye. The boss, short a man, had to do his job only to find that he had not done it properly leaving him to clean up the mess. I tell you that the boss will only remember the mess his former employee left and will not remember all the good that he had done previously.

The moral of this story is not to stuff up your good reputation by slacking off on your last day as it may come back to bite you in the ass.

There is a lesson here for all bloggers to take heed of, that every post is important and a blogger should only submit a post if it is the best that he can produce. This is especially true for those bloggers who have committed to post at least once everyday. I say to you, that it is better to miss a day or two rather than to publish a sub standard post.

The thing is that you never know which page a visitor may land on and it may well be that one post that should never have been published. It could cost you a subscriber or at the very least increase your bounce rate. Do it often enough and your reputation as a reputable blogger is sure to suffer. So, take my advice and scrutinize every post before hitting the submit button, and if you are not completely satisfied, it is far better to delete or to save it as a draft in order to tweak it for a later date.

Just the other day I was reading a post titled 50 Social Bookmarking Sites. What Are The Top 5-10 Most Popular? The intention of the post was to get the commentators opinion on the subject, so that the author could make up his mind as to which ones to include when he installs his latest social bookmarking plugin.

I was the only one that mentioned Blog Engage and I find that quite surprising. You see, there is one thing that sets Blog Engage apart from most of the other bookmarking sites. Let me quote you an important portion of the Blog Engage FAQ.

Blog Engage, allows you to submit your Blog Article(s) that will be reviewed by all and will be promoted, based on popularity, to the main page. When a user submits a new Blog Article(s) it will be placed in the “upcoming blog ” area until it gains sufficient votes to be promoted to the main page.

The ideal of Blog Engage is to promote interaction between bloggers by “Engaging” with each other’s blogs. Interaction that builds up quality comments and interactive discussions!

Can you see the main difference? Most of the other popular sites actually frown on you submitting your own post! Some will even penalize you or cancel your account, I know because I had it done to me. Not Blog Engage as Brian, the owner, wants you to submit those posts that you think are worthy to be appraised by your blogging peers. Naturally you can also submit posts from other bloggers that you want to share with the rest of the blogosphere.

Out of all the sites that I am a member of I can honestly say that Blog Engage is my favorite and the one that I use over and above all the others put together. I have even installed the WordPress plugin so that I can display it’s voting button on all my posts.

Another important point is that Brian is constantly scrutinizing the site to make sure that all submitted content is of of good quality and that no-one spams the site. Don’t be surprised if he actually votes on your post either or if he actually visits your blog and leaves a comment as he is well known for leaving his personal touch.

Not a member yet? It’s really easy to join, just vote on this post.

A Good Argument For Tough Love vs Spanking

All through the ages people from all over the world have been arguing over ways of disciplining your children. A lot of countries have actually banned spanking the child saying that this leads to psychological damage. Yet a lot of people continue to do so quoting such authorities as the Bible that says things like ‘spare the rod and spoil the child’.

I used to get whacked when I was a kid and I even spanked my kids when I though it absolutely necessary, albeit with the palm of my hand. Perhaps if there was another method? Well it seems that there is as presented by one frustrated parent.

Most people think it improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control my kids when they have one of ‘those moments.’

One that I found effective is for me to just take the child for a car ride and talk.

Some say it’s the vibration from the car, others say it’s the time away from any distractions such as TV, Video Games, Computer, iPod, etc.

Either way, my kids usually calm down and stop misbehaving after our car ride together. Eye to eye contact helps a lot too.

I’ve included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique.

You have got to love some of the stuff you get in your emails.

I’ve Just Added The Tweet My Blog Plugin

I’ve been a member of Twitter for awhile now but being a pretty lazy blogger I rarely remember to let people know via Twitter that I have just updated my blog. This could be costing me thousands of page views. Hopefully the Tweet My Blog plugin will rectify this as every time I post to my blog it will send out a tweet to all my followers.

For those of you who are not yet following me on Twitter you can easily do so by clicking this link, and for those bloggers who haven’t yet joined perhaps you should consider doing so as Twitter is a great way to let your followers know what you are doing. Not sure what Twitter is? Technically it is a free service that lets you send a 140-character message, commonly reffered to as a ‘tweet’, directly to everyone who have chosen to follow you and you have total control over who you choose to follow and who you allow as followers.

As to who uses Twitter, almost everyone from ProBlogger Darren Rowse to the pretty girl next door, so  as you can see, it is also a great way to keep an eye on your favorite bloggers. If you really want to know how to make the best out of Twitter, you can’t go past an article posted by the guardian.co.uk.

Anyway, hopefully through the use of Tweet My Blog I will be able to transform my

Twitter Account Into A Traffic Monster & Automatically Drive A Stampede Of Traffic To Your WordPress Blog!

Walk A Mile In Another Person’s Shoes

This is a poem that I called “Why Must It be This Way?” and in writing it I tried to imagine what it must be like for an innocent girl on her first date, how she could react and hopefully how she in the end she should react. Perhaps my perspective of this is tarnished ever since I became the father of a daughter even though I do not recall ever acting in such an uncouth manner.

It sort of brings to mind the Joe South classic made famous by Elvis Presley, “Walk A Mile In My Shoes”. Perhaps if we could physically do that before making rash judgments that lead to one person hurting another, the world could start to become a better place.

Anyway without further ado I present to you Why Must It be This Way?

When you asked me out that day
I thought it too good to be true
My insides all a flutter, I said OK
Oh if I only knew what would pursue

Why did you wait so long?
Why do I feel this way?
My heart is beating like a gong
Please don’t lead me astray

You took me out that night
We had a burger fries and a shake
We talked about the things that might
Affect us and the paths we would take

I can’t believe I am with you
It’s like it’s meant to be
What would you do if you knew?
How much you meant to me

You drove to a secluded spot
You parked the car, the night so still
And in my mouth your tongue it shot
Too much, too quick, it was no thrill

Why must you go so fast?
This is all too new, I’m so scared
I want to make this last
I really thought you cared

Not satisfied your hands did grope
As you fondled my breast, I’m shocked
Too much, too soon, I could not cope
Our mouth together our lips were locked

Why must you be so rough?
It wasn’t supposed to be like this
Please, I think I’ve had enough
Why can’t we just kiss?

My mind was numb senses reeling
I pushed him away and told him NO
My breasts you bastard you kept feeling
The next step not where I wished to go

Mom was right, I’m not ready
I should have listened and stayed at home
I wish he would stop already
He’s like a beast his mouth all foam

You pull away face contorted
I did no wrong so don’t blame me
The name you used when you retorted
A light bulb moment, now I can see

No piece of meat to be used
I’m a person that needs respect
No-one’s feelings should be abused
Those sorts of guys you should reject.

If their are any young girls reading this, please remember that you should hold onto your respect and that no male is worth you losing that. The oldest line that boys will ever use is the one that goes something like this; “If you really loved me then” and the rest tapers on to you letting him cop a feel etc. until he gets what he finally wants. In truth, if he really loved you he would never ever put you into that situation.

A male’s psyche is different from a woman as for a hell of a lot of men doing the deed is all that counts. For a woman it means so much more.

I would really love to get a reaction from both males and females as to how they perceive all that I have said.
